<P><B>Highlights</B></P><P>► SiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles were used as an additive to silicone rubber. ► Dynamic viscoelastic properties of the silicone rubber changed significantly. ► The modulus of elasticity is increased, while the loss factor is decreased. ► The new method of measurements enabled determination of the dynamic Poisson's ratio.</P> <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Measurements have been carried out to investigate the change of dynamic viscoelastic properties of silicone rubber with the admixture of small amount SiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles. A novel measurement method for the dynamic viscoelastic properties including the modulus of elasticity, the loss factor and the Poisson's ratio is employed. It was found that an admixture of rather small amount of SiO2 nanoparticles can substantially affect the viscoelastic properties of the silicone rubber. It is observed that the modulus of elasticity is increased, while the loss factor and the Poisson's ratio are reduced.</P>
Explaining Mens and Womens Participation in Household Labor

The present study examined the extent to which Israeli men and women participate in three domains of household labor: domestic tasks, technical household maintenance, and running errands. In an attempt to understand the sources of the division of household labor in each of these domains, we examined the validity of three theoretical perspectives: relative resources theory, gender role ideology theory, and family systems theory. The sample consisted of 429 employed Jewish Israeli parents (213 men, and 216 women) with at least one child living at home. Spousal earning patterns and occupational prestige patterns contributed to explaining participation in household labor among men but not among women. Feminine gender role ideology contributed significantly to explaining men’s participation in domestic tasks. Contrary to expectations, the higher the men’s assessments of marital quality were, the less they participated in domestic tasks, whereas the women’s experience of high marital quality was related to less participation in technical household maintenance.
Explaining Egalitarianism in Gender-Role Attitudes

The present study examined differences in egalitarianism in gender-role attitudes in Israel according to participants’ sex, sexual orientation, and background variables. Egalitarianism in gender-role attitudes was examined in three domains: work, family, and interpersonal relations. Matching the homosexual to the heterosexual participants according to basic demographic variables yielded a final sample of 228 (97 men and 131 women). Of these, 114 were homosexual and 114 were heterosexual. The findings indicated that women’s gender-role attitudes were more egalitarian than those of men and that the attitudes of homosexuals were more egalitarian than those of heterosexuals in all three domains. It was further found that differences between men and women were smaller among the homosexuals than among the heterosexuals in the work domain. The contribution of most of the background variables, except for the variables age and status of intimate relationships (living or not living with a partner), to explaining egalitarianism in gender-role attitudes was similar among homosexuals and heterosexuals as well as among men and women.
Magnetically Soft Nanomaterials Obtained by Devitrification of Metallic Glasses

Magnetically soft nanomaterials obtained by controlled crystallisation of metallic glasses are the newest group of materials for inductive components. In particular, research is carried out in the field of alloys for high temperature applications. This kind of materials must meet two basic requirements: good magnetic properties and stability of properties and structure. In the present work the magnetic properties and structure of Fe-Co-Hf-Zr-Cu-B (HITPERM-type) alloys were investigated, as well as their stability. Differential thermal analysis, (DTA), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), magnetometry (VSM) and quasistatic hysteresis loop recording were used to characterise structure and properties of the alloys investigated. Optimisation against properties and their stability was performed, resulting in formulation of chemical composition of the optimum alloy, as well as its heat treatment.
