<B>ABSTRACT</B><P>Phenazine production was engineered in <I>Rhizobium etli</I> USDA9032 by the introduction of the <I>phz</I> locus of <I>Pseudomonas chlororaphis</I> O6. Phenazine-producing <I>R. etli</I> was able to inhibit the growth of <I>Botrytis cinerea</I> and <I>Fusarium oxysporum</I> in vitro. Black bean inoculated with phenazine-producing <I>R. etli</I> produced brownish Fix<SUP>−</SUP> nodules.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Crosslinked metal oxide containing nanocomposite membranes, in which the filler also acts as crosslinker, were prepared by blending polybenzimidazole (PBI-OO) and phenylsulfonated TiO<SUB>2</SUB> particles (s-TiO<SUB>2</SUB>). Thermal curing changes the ionically crosslinked system into a covalently crosslinked system. The synthesized s-TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles were analyzed by thermal gravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The covalently crosslinked nanocomposite membranes (c-sTiO<SUB>2</SUB>-PBI-OO) were doped with phosphoric acid (PA) for high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell (HT-PEMFC) application. The membrane properties, such as PA uptake, dimensional change, gel content, proton conductivity, mechanical property, and single cell performance were evaluated and compared with the properties of acid-doped c-PBI-OO. PA doped 6-c-sTiO<SUB>2</SUB>-PBI-OO (6 wt% sTiO<SUB>2</SUB>) showed the highest uptake of 392 wt%, and a proton conductivity at 160 °C of 98 mS cm<SUP>−1</SUP>. In the fuel cell, a peak power density of 356 mW cm<SUP>−2</SUP> was obtained, which is 76% higher than that of a c-PBI-OO based system (202 mW cm<SUP>−2</SUP>). Fixed divisor of a multivariate polynomial and generalized factorials in several variables

We define new generalized factorials in several variables over an arbitrary subset $\underline{S} \subseteq R^n,$ where $R$ is a Dedekind domain and $n$ is a positive integer. We then study the properties of the fixed divisor $d(\underline{S},f)$ of a multivariate polynomial $f \in R[x_1,x_2, \ldots, x_n]$. We generalize the results of Polya, Bhargava, Gunji \& McQuillan and strengthen that of Evrard, all of which relate the fixed divisor to generalized factorials of $\underline{S}$. We also express $d(\underline{S},f)$ in terms of the images $f(\underline{a})$ of finitely many elements $\underline{a} \in R^n$, generalizing a result of Hensel, and in terms of the coefficients of $f$ under explicit bases.

The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic situation forced the scientific community to explore all the possibilities from various fields, and so far we have seen a lot of surprises, eureka moments and disappointments. One of the approaches from the cellular therapists was exploiting the immunomodulatory and regenerative potential of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), more so of MSC-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs)—particularly exosomes, in order to alleviate the cytokine storm and regenerate the damaged lung tissues. Unlike MSCs, the EVs are easier to store, deliver, and are previously shown to be as effective as MSCs, yet less immunogenic. These features attracted the attention of many and thus led to a tremendous increase in publications, clinical trials and patent applications. This review presents the current landscape of the field and highlights some interesting findings on MSC-derived EVs in the context of COVID-19, including in silico, in vitro, in vivo and case reports. The data strongly suggests the potential of MSC-derived EVs as a therapeutic regime for the management of acute lung injury and associated complications in COVID-19 and beyond.

In this study, poly(methyl orange) (PMO) was synthesized by electrodeposition onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE), and the resulting structure was examined for the determination of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). Cyclic voltammetry revealed that the PMO-modified GCE (PMO/GCE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of 4-NP in a 0.5-M phosphate buffer solution. In contrast, the bare GCE showed no oxidation peak. Interestingly, PMO/GCE exhibited an oxidation peak at approximate 0.93 V, and the background current was higher than that of the bare GCE. Furthermore, the developed electrochemical sensor exhibited a linear relationship with the 4-NP concentration from 600 nM to 10 mM, and the limit of detection was 170 nM (signal/noise ¼ 3). The sensor demonstrated excellent selectivity, good stability, and reproducibility. It was applied to the determination of 4-NP in water samples by the standard addition method and gave recoveries of 99.2e100.9%.

Antibodies raised against the purified p-subunit of $\beta$-conglycinin were used in immunohistochemical studies to monitor the pattern of $\beta$-conglycinin mobilization in the cotyledons during soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] seed germination. Western blot analysis revealed that the break down of the $\beta$-subunit of $\beta$-conglycinin commenced as early as 2 days after seed imbibition (DAI). Concurrent with the degradation of the $\beta$-subunit of $\beta$-conglycinin, accumulation of 48, 28, and 26 kD proteolytic intermediates was observed from 2 to 6 DAI. Western blot analysis also revealed that the acidic subunit of glycinin was mobilized earlier than the basic subunit. The basic glycinin subunit was subjected to proteolysis within 2 DAI resulting in the appearance of an intermediate product approximately 2 kD smaller than the native basic glycinin subunit. In contrast to the major seed storage proteins, lipoxygenase was subjected to limited proteolysis and was detected even after 8 DAI. The first sign of $\beta$-conglycinin breakdown was observed near the vascular strands and proceeded from the vascular strands towards the epidermis. Protein A-gold localization studies using thin sections of soybean cotyledons and antibodies raised against the $\beta$-subunit of $\beta$-conglycinin revealed intense labeling over protein bodies. A pronounced decrease in the protein A-gold labeling intensity over protein bodies was observed at later stages of seed germination. The protein bodies, which were converted into a large central vacuole by 8 DAI, contained very little 7S protein as evidenced by sparse protein A-gold labeling in the vacuoles.
Existence of solutions of quasilinear integrodifferential evolution equations in Banach spaces

We prove the local existence of classical solutions of quasilinear integrodifferential equations in Banach spaces. The results are obtained by using fractional powers of operators and the Schauder fixed-point theorem. An example is provided to illustrate the theory. Some reliability properties of extropy for residual and past lifetime random variables

In the present paper, we study the residual extropy using distribution function and quantile function approaches. We also investigate extropy in past lifetime in both approaches. Some characterizations and ageing properties of these extropy measures are proposed. Different stochastic orders based on the residual and past lifetime extropy are also presented.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Here, we report the characterization of four calcium-independent cell adhesion molecules, viz- <I>nectin-1, 2, 3</I> and <I>4</I> from seven-band grouper <I>Hyporthodus septemfasciatus</I> a high valued marine finfish susceptible for nervous necrosis virus (NNV) infection. Structural analysis of the nectin molecules revealed an N-terminal V domain, two constant C2 domains, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail. All the nectin molecules except <I>nectin-4</I> shared a C-terminal interaction motif (E/AxYV). Phylogenetic analysis revealed a close relationship between seven-band grouper nectins and zebrafish nectins. Also, nectins ubiquitously expressed in all the tissues of healthy fish with higher transcript abundance in the brain, gill and anterior kidney. Significant up-regulation of <I>nectin-4</I> expression was observed in the brain of NNV challenged fish followed by the gill and kidney. Further, docking simulations of nectins with NNV capsid proteins revealed a strong interaction with nectin-1 and nectin-4. Our findings suggest that nectins might have a possible role to play in NNV neuropathogenesis. The present observations provide potential clues for further elucidating the involvement of nectins in NNV pathogenesis and could help in the development of new antiviral therapeutics inhibiting the NNV entry to the cell.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Four nectin genes were identified and characterized from sevenband grouper, <I>Hyporthodus septemfasciatus.</I> </LI> <LI> The molecules belonged to immunoglobulin super family with distinct V-domain, two C2 domain, a transmembrane helix and C-terminal interaction motif </LI> <LI> Highest temporal expression and fold change after NNV challenge was observed for nectin-4 in brain </LI> <LI> Docking simulations demonstrated significant positive interaction of NNV coat proteins with grouper nectins. </LI> </UL> </P>
