The fabrication of high performance supercapacitor electrodes has been greatly investigated for future high power storage applications. In this present work, chromium oxide-cobalt oxide based nanocomposite (Cr2O3–Co3O4 NC) was synthesized using the hydrothermal approach. Moreover, the cyclic voltammetry (CV) study reveals the Cr2O3–Co3O4 NC delivers a high specific capacitance of 619.4 F/g at 10 mV/s. The electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) of Cr2O3–Co3O4 NC possess the solution resistance (Rs) and charge transfer resistance (Rct) of 0.68 Ω and 0.03 Ω respectively. The Galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) analysis demonstrated the prolonged charge-discharge time and good rate capability of the Cr2O3–Co3O4 NC. The cyclic stability of Cr2O3–Co3O4 NC delivers superior capacitive retention of 83% even after 2000 cycles. The asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device based on Cr2O3–Co3O4//AC yielded an energy density of 4.3 Wh/kg at the corresponding power density of 200 W/kg. Furthermore, the ASC delivers superior cyclic stability of 74.8% even after 1000 consecutive charge-discharge cycles.

The diverse populations reportedly suffer from obesity on a global scale, and inconclusive evidence has indicated that both environmental and genetic factors are associated with obesity development. Therefore, a need exists to examine potential therapeutic or prophylactic molecules for obesity treatment. Prebiotics with non-digestible oligosaccharides (NDOs) have the potential to treat obesity. A limited number of prebiotic NDOs have demonstrated their ability as a convincing therapeutic solution to encounter obesity through various mechanisms, viz., stimulating beneficial microorganisms, reducing the population of pathogenic microorganisms, and also improving lipid metabolism and glucose homeostasis. NDOs include pectic-oligosaccharides, fructo-oligosaccharides, xylo-oligosaccharides, isomalto-oligosaccharides, manno-oligosaccharides and other oligosaccharides which significantly influence the overall human health by different mechanisms. This review provides the treatment of obesity benefits by incorporating these prebiotic NDOs, according to established scientific research, which shows their good effects extend beyond the colon.
Application of a Lateral Misalignments Detection Mechanism for Roadway Powered Electric Vehicle

Wireless power transfer (WPT) is emerging as an eminent means of the electric vehicle charging system. A perfectly aligned transmitter–receiver set of WPT system vintages a quick and autonomous charging of the vehicle. However, practically, misalignment is inevitable, and a minor deviation between the transmitter–receiver makes a diff erential fall in the desired output power. So, the system requires a proper mechanism to detect and correct these misalignments. In this paper, an experimental study on lateral misalignments is performed at diff erent ground clearances. Of the many detection techniques present, a 10bit R-2R ladder based lateral misalignment detection mechanism is proposed, and the signifi cant results are presented. This mechanism is a digital-to-analog converter, which induces multiple combinations of outputs. These outputs signify the precise position of the vehicle in the charging lane. Further, an interactive driver assistance system is suggested to attain the desired output power by instructing the EV driver to proceed for perfect alignment. This system eff ectively communicates the data such as state of alignment, measurement of speed, percentage of state-of-charge, and control over the charging process.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A single-phase white-light-emitting phosphor, K<SUB>3</SUB>ZnB<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB>:Dy<SUP>3+</SUP>, has been synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was used to determine the monoclinic crystal structure of phosphors. The surface states, B 1s, O 1s, K 2p, Zn 2p, and Dy 3d of the phosphor was quantified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) revealed double absorption edges at 3.27 and 5.46 eV for K<SUB>3</SUB>ZnB<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB> matrix. The formation of defect-levels, zinc interstitials ( Z <SUB> n i </SUB> ) , zinc vacancies ( <SUB> V Z n </SUB> ) , oxygen antisites ( <SUB> O Z n </SUB> ) and oxygen vacancies ( <SUB> V O </SUB> ) in K<SUB>3</SUB>ZnB<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB>:Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> phosphors were identified by photoluminescent (PL) spectroscopy. The emissions at 405 nm (violet-I), 434 nm (violet-II), and 467 nm (blue) are due to intra-band transitions of ( F X → <SUB> V Z n </SUB> ) , ( Z <SUB> n i </SUB> → <SUB> V Z n </SUB> ) and ( Z <SUB> n i </SUB> → <SUB> O Z n </SUB> ) of the host, respectively. Similarly, the emission at 517 nm (green) corresponds to the transition from free excitons to the oxygen vacancies in the host ( F X → <SUB> V O </SUB> ) . The emissions at 575 and 665 nm are assigned to the <I>f-f</I> transitions of Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> ions within the host matrix. An energy level diagram is proposed to describe the host emission and possible energy transfer from the host to dopant ions in the single-phase phosphor. The phosphor shows good thermal stability with activation energy of 0.52 eV. Objective: Posterior fossa decompression is the treatment of choice in type 1 Chiari malformation (CM-1) without bony instability. Although surgical fixation has been recommended by a few authors recently, comparative studies to evaluate these treatment strategies using objective outcome tools are lacking. Methods: Seventy-three patients with pure CM-1 (posterior fossa bony decompression [PFBD], n=21; posterior fossa bony and dural decompression [PFBDD], n=40; and posterior fixation [PF], n=12) underwent a postoperative outcome assessment using Chicago Chiari Outcome Score (CCOS). Logistic regression analysis detected predictors of an unfavorable outcome. Results: Minimally symptomatic patients generally underwent a PFBD while most of the clinically severe patients underwent a PFBDD (p=0.049). The mean CCOS score at discharge was highest in the PF (12.0±1.41) and lowest in PFBDD group (10.98±1.73, p=0.087). Patients with minimal preoperative clinical disease severity (adjusted odds ratio [AOR], 4.58; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.29–16.31) and PFBDD (AOR, 7.56; 95% CI, 1.70–33.68) represented risks for an unfavorable short-term postoperative outcome. Though long-term outcomes (CCOS) did not differ among the 3 groups (p=0.615), PFBD group showed the best long-term improvements (mean follow-up CCOS, 13.71±0.95), PFBDD group improved to a comparable degree despite a poorer short-term outcome while PF had the lowest scores. Late deteriorations (n=3, 4.1%) occurred in the PFBDD group. Conclusion: Minimally symptomatic patients and PFBDD predict a poor short-term postoperative outcome. PFBD appears to be a durable procedure while PFBDD group is marred by complications and late deteriorations. PF does not provide any better results than posterior fossa decompression alone in the long run.
Exploration of Heat Stress-Responsive Markers in Understanding Trait Associations in Wheat

Heat stress (HS) is detrimental to wheat production and productivity globally. To combat HS, several genetic, molecular, and genomic approaches have been employed in the past. Analyzing the physiochemical mechanisms and the important regulatory genes involved is the key to develop HS tolerant plants. In the present work, a total of 243 novel simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers developed from stress-associated genes identified through RNA-seq were used for understanding marker–trait associations. 37 SSRs were found to be clearly polymorphic and among these, 28 SSR loci were significantly associated with component traits of HS tolerance. The polymorphic SSRs were validated for diversity analysis on a subset of 85 genotypes. The genotypes were grouped into four clusters representing diverse and similar alleles imparting HS tolerance in Indian and exotic genotypes. Additionally, 28 genes selected for the expression analysis confirmed that 15 genes were induced under HS in the thermotolerant WH1021 and Raj3765 and repressed in thermosusceptible HD2009 cultivar. Hence, the information on traits associated with candidate genes and the SSR markers overlying on the gene will enhance our understanding of thermotolerance mechanism operating in wheat and will help the breeders in the precise development of heat-tolerant genotypes through marker-assisted selection (MAS).

Helicoverpa armigera is an important pest infesting a number of crops of high commercial value leading to huge economic losses globally. RNA interference (RNAi) is a potent tool for the control of insect pests and towards this objective, transgenic tomato expressing dsRNA of Juvenile hormone acid methyl transferase (JHAMT) gene of H. armigera was developed. The H. armigera larvae fed on HaJHAMT tomato leaves led to a severe (90%) down regulation of the cognate gene expression thus adversely affected the feeding and metamorphosis. Reduction in larval and pupal weight and inability to undergo complete metamorphosis were observed that led to larval-pupal intermediates and subsequently affected the eclosion. Thus, JH down regulation is an attractive target due to specificity to insects and its important role in insect growth and development to engineer insect resistance in crops using RNAi.
