UNBOUNDEDNESS OF THE TRILINEAR HILBERT TRANSFORM UNDER THE CRITICAL INDEX

        Komori-Furuya, Yasuo Korean Mathematical Society 2021 대한수학회지 Vol.58 No.5

Demeter [1] and Kuk and Lee [5] proved the unboundedness of the trilinear Hilbert transforms Ha,b,c under the critical index 1/2 for some parameters a, b and c. We show the unboundedness of Ha,b,c for any parameters.

Molecular Mechanism of Runx2-Dependent Bone Development

Komori, Toshihisa Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2020 Molecules and cells Vol.43 No.2

Runx2 is an essential transcription factor for skeletal development. It is expressed in multipotent mesenchymal cells, osteoblast-lineage cells, and chondrocytes. Runx2 plays a major role in chondrocyte maturation, and Runx3 is partly involved. Runx2 regulates chondrocyte proliferation by directly regulating Ihh expression. It also determines whether chondrocytes become those that form transient cartilage or permanent cartilage, and functions in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. Runx2 is essential for osteoblast differentiation and is required for the proliferation of osteoprogenitors. Ihh is required for Runx2 expression in osteoprogenitors, and hedgehog signaling and Runx2 induce the differentiation of osteoprogenitors to preosteoblasts in endochondral bone. Runx2 induces Sp7 expression, and Runx2, Sp7, and canonical Wnt signaling are required for the differentiation of preosteoblasts to immature osteoblasts. It also induces the proliferation of osteoprogenitors by directly regulating the expression of Fgfr2 and Fgfr3. Furthermore, Runx2 induces the proliferation of mesenchymal cells and their commitment into osteoblast-lineage cells through the induction of hedgehog (Gli1, Ptch1, Ihh), Fgf (Fgfr2, Fgfr3), Wnt (Tcf7, Wnt10b), and Pthlh (Pth1r) signaling pathway gene expression in calvaria, and more than a half-dosage of Runx2 is required for their expression. This is a major cause of cleidocranial dysplasia, which is caused by heterozygous mutation of RUNX2. Cbfb, which is a co-transcription factor that forms a heterodimer with Runx2, enhances DNA binding of Runx2 and stabilizes Runx2 protein by inhibiting its ubiquitination. Thus, Runx2/Cbfb regulates the proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes and osteoblast-lineage cells by activating multiple signaling pathways and via their reciprocal regulation.

      • Translation and Formation of Style in the Modern Japanese Novel

KOMORI, Yoichi 이화여자대학교 이화인문과학원 2013 탈경계인문학 Vol.6 No.3

This paper examines the role of translation in modern Japanese literature. The formation of the modern novel in Meiji Japan is deeply connected to the style of translation. The uniqueness of modern Japanese literature is revealed when the personhood of aspects other than personal pronouns within the language are intentionally emphasized. The emphasis on personhood was influenced during the Meiji Period among intellectuals of the culture and style of translation. Morita Shiken, who is called the king of translation, clearly called attention to the new contemporary texts and readers. The direction of his stylistic revolution became much clearer after he took clues from translated novels. He rejected the conventional stereotypical expressions used when describing a condition or object. Shiken’s experimental style cooperates with Futabatei Shimei’s translations creating territory for expressions and also draws a clear line with the style of novels in the past. Through its concern with the individuality of the textual world, the limitations, and individuality of the characters, the modern novel was able to acquire the structure of narrative. The central focus of the translation work in modern Japan and also in other East Asian country was the establishment of a space for new writing. The superficial difference between styles that tried to combine the written word with the spoken or the slang with the elegant, the classical Chinese style, or the imitation of the classical style was not important. The common understanding of expression concealed behind these superficial differences is that we should comprehend the dynamic movement in the border expressions of this age.

Automatic Adaptive Space Segmentation for Reinforcement Learning

Komori, Yuki,Notsu, Akira,Honda, Katsuhiro,Ichihashi, Hidetomo Korean Institute of Intelligent Systems 2012 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.12 No.1

We tested a single pendulum simulation and observed the influence of several situation space segmentation types in reinforcement learning processes in order to propose a new adaptive automation for situation space segmentation. Its segmentation is performed by the Contraction Algorithm and the Cell Division Approach. Also, its automation is performed by "entropy," which is defined on action values’ distributions. Simulation results were shown to demonstrate the influence and adaptability of the proposed method.

The New Dynamics of East Asian Regional Economy: Japanese and Chinese Strategies in Asia

        ( Yasumasa Komori ) 인하대학교 국제관계연구소 2006 Pacific Focus Vol.21 No.23

The Japan-led flying-geese pattern of economic development has become obsolete as an accurate description of the pattern of economic relations in East Asia. Meanwhile, the rise of China as the world`s production platform has become the most significant factor in transforming the East Asian regional economy. Although the Asian financial crisis served as a major catalyst for the emergence of ASEAN+3, the China factor looms increasingly important in the subsequent development of East Asian regionalism. Despite its enhanced position in the region, however, China`s new role in East Asia is clearly different from the role that Japan played at the zenith of its economic prosperity. While Japan`s economic engagement in Asia was based on economic penetration by Japanese multilateral firms, China`s rapid growth is still predicated upon foreign capital and technology. China`s strength lies in its ability to open up its economy for trade and investment. In trade negotiations with ASEAN, China has taken the lead, surpassing Japan, a country constrained by domestic politics. However, Japan remains an important partner for ASEAN countries, not only in providing financial and developmental assistance, but also in hedging against China`s dominance.

      • Proposal and Use of a Void Model for the Simulation of Ductile Fracture Behavior in Material Forming

        Kazutake Komori 한국소성가공학회 2010 기타자료 Vol.2010 No.6

In this study, a ductile fracture model derived from a microscopic point of view is proposed and is proved to be effective in the simulation of material forming. First, a method of predicting ductile fracture is proposed using a model from a microscopic point of view. The relationship between the void volume fraction and the strain to fracture calculated from the model, agrees well with the relationship obtained from the Thomason’s model of internal necking. Next, a new computer program, based on a conventional computer program for the finite-element method, with which the behavior of crack growth after ductile fracture can be analyzed, has been proposed. The condition whereby a material is divided into two materials upon material forming has been simulated by the proposed ductile fracture model and the proposed new computer program. Finally, the simulation of ductile fracture behavior in material forming is performed, and the validity of our proposed model is clarified by comparing the analytical results with the experimental results.

Mouse Models for the Evaluation of Osteocyte Functions

        Toshihisa Komori 대한골대사학회 2014 대한골대사학회지 Vol.21 No.1

Osteocytes establish an extensive intracellular and extracellular communication systemvia gap junction-coupled cell processes and canaliculi, through which cell processes passthroughout bone, and the communication system is extended to osteoblasts on thebone surface. To examine the osteocyte function, several mouse models were estab-lished. To ablate osteocytes, osteocytes death was induced by diphtheria toxin. However, any types of osteocyte death result in necrosis, because dying osteocytes are not phago-cytosed by scavengers. After the rupture of cytoplasmic membrane, immunostimulatorymolecules are released from lacunae to bone surface through canaliculi, and stimulatemacrophages. The stimulated macrophages produce interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, and tumornecrosis factor-alpha (TNF- α), which are the most important proinflammatory cytokinestriggering inflammatory bone loss. Therefore, the osteocyte ablation results in necrosis-induced severe osteoporosis. In conditional knockout mice of gap junction protein al-pha-1 (GJA1), which encodes connexin 43 in Gap junction, using dentin matrix protein 1(DMP1) Cre transgenic mice, osteocyte apoptosis and enhanced bone resorption occur, because extracellular communication is intact. Overexpression of Bcl-2 in osteoblasts us-ing 2.3 kb collagen type I alpha1 (COL1A1) promoter causes osteocyte apoptosis due tothe severe reduction in the number of osteocyte processes, resulting in the disruption ofboth intracellular and extracellular communication systems. This mouse model unrav-eled osteocyte functions. Osteocytes negatively regulate bone mass by stimulating os-teoclastogenesis and inhibiting osteoblast function in physiological condition. Osteo-cytes are responsible for bone loss in unloaded condition, and osteocytes augment theirfunctions by further stimulating osteoclastogenesis and further inhibiting osteoblastfunction, at least partly, through the upregulation of receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) in osteoblasts and Sost in osteocytes in unloaded condition.

Recent progress in Large Helical Device experiments

        Akio Komori,T. Shimozuma,T. Ido,T. Kobuchi,T. Seki,T. Ozaki,T. Fujita,T. Watari,T. Akiyama,T. Tokuzawa,T. Uda,T. Minami,Y. Nakamura,Y. Torii,Y. Sakamoto,Y. Takeiri,Y. Nagayama,Y. Oka,Y. Narushima,Y. Y 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.III

In the Large Helical Device (LHD), some reactor-oriented experiments, i.e. high beta, high ion temperature, steady state operation, have produced remarkable progress in recent experimental campaigns. By optimizing the rotational transform, an average beta value of 4.3 %, which is the highest on record for helical devices, was achieved. The ICRF sustained steady-state discharges for more than 30 minutes, these were also successfully performed with the aid of the magnetic axis swing technique for the reduction of the heat load to the plasma-facing component. In the discharge, the total input energy to the plasma reached 1.3 GJ, which also established a new record.1
