Adaptive Modulation with Diversity Combining Based on Output-Threshold MRC

<P>In this paper, we propose a combined adaptive modulation transmission and output threshold MRC diversity reception scheme for high spectral and power efficiency wireless transceiver design. The modulation constellation size and the number of combined diversity paths are jointly determined to achieve the highest spectral efficiency but with low combining complexity, given the fading channel conditions and the required error rate performance. We derive the statistics of the resulting output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and then use it to analyze the proposed system (i) performance in terms of outage probability and average bit error rate, (ii) complexity in terms of the average number of path estimation and the average number of combined paths, and (iii) spectral efficiency. Some selected numerical examples are finally presented and discussed to illustrate the tradeoff offered by this scheme.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Deactivated waste activated carbon due to the deposition of boron in the exhaust gas from an incinerator was regenerated by the treatment with surfactant, HCl, and NH<SUB>3</SUB>. The catalysts were characterized using BET surface area, ICP, XPS and FT-IR spectra. Sequential treatment with surfactant and HCl removed the adsorbed boron very effectively. NH<SUB>3</SUB> treatment increased the number of functional nitrogen groups in regenerated sample. For NH<SUB>3</SUB> selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO, sequential treatments with surfactant, HCl, and NH<SUB>3</SUB> showed the highest DeNOx activity, attributed to the increased metal removal efficiency, specific surface area and amount of nitrogen functional groups on the surface.</P>

The bacterial culture was performed as described by Naylor and Guttmann(1967): immediately after taking the specimen the urine was poured on a dip-slide coated with CLED(cystine-Lactose-electrolyte-Deficient) on one side and with MacConkey agar on the other(Uricult). The dip-slides were kept in an incubator overnight and read the following day. We performed a comparative study of standard loop and dip-slide methods. The results obtained from 659 cases of urines were as follows; 1) Standard loop methods. 18hrs at 37℃-Negative 87.1%, doubtful 10.9% and positive 2.0%. 2) Dip-slide URICULT, 18hrs at 15∼20℃-Negative 88.5%, doubtful 9.5% and positive 2.0%. 3) Dip-slide URICULT, 18hrs at l5∼20hrs℃ and 24hrs at 37℃-Negative 88.5%, doubtful 9.5% and positive 2.0%.

Intravenous injection of Peucedani Japonici Radix Extract (PJE) regularly elicited the dose-related lowering of blood pressure in the rabbits anesthetized with urethane, and then did not show the cumulative effect and the tachyphylaxis. The hypotensive action induced by PJE was inhibited by pretreatment with atropine or bethanidine, but potentiated slightly by preteatment with physostigmine. The hypotensive action induced by PJE was not influenced by propranolol, phentolamine, chlorisondamine or diphenhydramine. Above results suggest that the PJE produces the hypoensive action by dual action, that are muscarinic action and inhibition of adrenergic activation.

조기직장암의 내시경적 치료 : Piecemeal polypectomy and strip biopsy resection technique 부분 용종절제술 및 박리생검술

The incidence of colorectal cancer has been increased gradually and it was about 6.9% of all malignancies in Korea. Early diagnosis was recognized as the most important factor influencing the prognosis of colorectal cancer and the incidence of early colorectal cancer was increasing. Thus great change was observed in the treatment of early colorectal cancer, endoscopic therapy as well as curative surgical resection is being accepted. We report a case of effective and safe endoscopic therapy for early rectal cancer in 5S-year-old male patient. He presented with rectal prolapse and bleeding of a year's duration. A large polypoid mass with fine nodular surface and thick, short stalk was seen in the rectum at 4cm above the anal verge during flexible sigmoidoscopy. After the histologic examination of specimen obtained by bite biopsy, CT scan of pelvic cavity and ultrasonogram of abdomen, the tumor was removed safe and completely by 2 sessions of piecemeal polypectomies and strip biopsy. He has been well without symptoms and signs of recurrence of rectal cancer for 20 months.
