To measure tire rolling resistance, majority of the industry uses two methods, ISO 28580 and SAE J1269. Differences of test procedures between them result in tradeoffs in measurement time and coverage. ISO 28580 requires 2 hours per tire measurement and it only can represent resistance under limited driving condition. on the other hands SAE J1269 requires 4 hours per tire but can represent resistances under various axial loads and pressures. Thus there has been a requirement to estimate various resistances by using simpler resistances. This study describes an optimized method to estimate tire resistance measured on SAE J1269 by using tire resistance measured on ISO 28580. This paper suggests building linear regression models between ISO 28580 and SAE J1269 on several areas separated by axial loads and tire pressures. The suggested method showed R2 of 0.9 and mean absolute error of 0.1.

Hyundai Motor Company(HMC) developed a 12 meter long low floor fuel cell hybrid bus(FCB). For the main electric power source. the 160㎾ PEM fuel cell system. which generates only water vapor as a byproduct, was developed. As the weight of the bus is much heavier than that of passenger vehicle and the urban transit bus should decelerate and accelerate again at every bus stop. ultra-capacitor was developed as a secondary power source to maximize the amount of energy which captured during regenerative braking. The HMC’s FCB is the world first fuel cell bus that is hybridized with ultra-capacitor. A 240㎾ induction motor and an inverter were developed since they provide lower cost than PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) and relatively high efficiency when the power rating is high. For the hydrogen storage system, type 2 high pressure tanks are used and they could carry 40 ㎏ of hydrogen and offer 300 ㎞ of driving range. HMC developed fuel cell system controller, vehicle controller, and hybrid controller, thus the bus can be driven in the near optimum conditions to improve the driving range. Four more FCB’s will be manufactured and driven on the road under the Korean govemment(MOCIE) funded fuel cell vehicle fleet program until 2009.

Cardiovascular risk factors are associated with cognitive impairments. However, the effects of cardiovascular risk factors on the topography of cortical thinning have not yet been studied in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the topography of cortical thinning related to cardiovascular risk factors and the relationships among cardiovascular risk factors, white matter hyperintensities (WMH), and cortical atrophy. Participants included 226 patients with Alzheimer disease or subcortical vascular dementia and 135 patients with amnestic MCI or subcortical vascular MCI. We automatically measured the volume of WMH and cortical thickness. Hypertension was associated with cortical thinning in the frontal and perisylvian regions, and cortical thinning related to diabetes mellitus (DM) occurred in the frontal region. In path analyses, hypertension accounted for 0.04 of the frontal thinning with the mediation of WMH and 0.16 without the mediation of WMH. In case of DM, it accounted for 0.02 of the frontal thinning with the mediation of WMH and 0.13 without the mediation of WMH. Hypertension and DM predominantly affected frontal thinning both with and without the mediation of WMH, where the effects without the mediation of WMH were greater than those with the mediation of WMH.
The effects of circadian disturbances induced by night shifts on the mouse peripheral tissues

We have examined the effect of circadian disturbances induced by night shifts (NSs) on the phenotypes of the tibiae and abdominal adipose tissues (ADTs) in a mouse model by using in vivo micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). We found that the volumes of total and visceral ADTs in the night-shifted group of mice were significantly larger (69 and 92%, respectively) than those in the control. The mean polar moment of inertia, cross-sectional thickness, and bone mineral density of the cortical bone in the night-shifted group of mice were less (13, 5, and 3%, respectively) than those in the control. Moreover, the volume and the thickness of growth plates (GPs) of the tibiae in the night-shifted mice were significantly smaller (22 and 20%, respectively) than those in the control. Taken together, our results indicate that disturbances in the mouse circadian rhythms induced by NSs affect the morphological characteristics of cortical bone, the volume and the thickness of GPs, and the volume of ADTs.
Cortical thickness in single- versus multiple-domain amnestic mild cognitive impairment

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) can be classified into single domain (S-aMCI) and multiple domain (M-aMCI) subtypes. However, there have been no studies that specifically investigate the structural differences that support this classification. In an attempt to compare regional cortical thickness in two subtypes of aMCI, we aimed to map the distribution of cortical thinning using a surface based cortical analysis of magnetic resonance imaging. The cortical thickness across the entire brain was measured in 9 patients with S-aMCI, 22 patients with M-aMCI, and 61 normal healthy subjects. Differences in the patterns of cortical thinning between S-aMCI and M-aMCI were assessed using ANCOVA on a vertex-by-vertex basis, and statistical maps of differences in cortical thickness between the groups were constructed using a surface model. Relative to controls, S-aMCI patients showed cortical thinning in the left medial temporal lobe, and M-aMCI patients showed cortical thinning in the left medial temporal lobe, precuneus, and anterior and inferior basal temporal, insular, and temporal association cortices. When the two MCI groups were directly compared, M-aMCI patients showed cortical thinning in left precuneus. Our studies suggest that M-aMCI is a transitional state between S-aMCI and Alzheimer's disease, and that the cortical thinning is evidence that the precuneus is responsible for the multiple cognitive impairments in M-aMCI.</P>
Evaluation of ST2 and NT-proBNP as cardiac biomarkers in dogs with heartworm disease

This study compared serum concentrations of suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) between healthy and heartworm- infected dogs. Eighteen heartworm-infected dogs and five healthy dogs were included in the study. Dogs were diagnosed and categorized by history, clinical signs, and blood assay, thoracic radiography, echocardiography, and commercial ELISA kit results. Serum samples were sent to the IDEXX reference laboratory for NT-proBNP measurement. ST2 was examined by using a canine interleukin 33 receptor ELISA kit with the quantitative sandwich ELISA method. The severely infected group showed significant elevation of NT-proBNP concentration over those of the control (P=0.03) and mildly infected (P=0.04) group. There were no significant difference in ST2 concentrations among the three groups. The usefulness of NT-proBNP as a cardiac biomarker in dogs with severe heartworm disease was confirmed by the results of this study. Further investigations to assess ST2 as a cardiac biomarker are warranted.
Temporal Changes of Psychosocial Status in Neuroblastoma Survivors Over Time

Objectives The survival rate of all childhood cancers has been increasing, and latent effects on childhood cancer survivors have been gaining researchers attention. It has been shown that childhood cancer survivors experience social maladaptation and a decreased quality of life. Although neuroblastoma is one of the most common solid cancers in childhood, there are few reports on psychosocial status in neuroblastoma survivors. The purpose of this study was to investigate temporal changes in psychosocial status in neuroblastoma survivors. Methods This study was conducted by undertaking retrospective chart reviews of neuroblastoma survivors that were treated between January 1997 and February 2016 at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Korea. Among the 54 survivors identified, data for 28 patients who underwent psychological evaluation before and after treatment completion were selected for further analysis. We compared intelligence score, Korea- Child Behavior Checklist (K- CBCL), and Korean Personality Rating Scale for Children (K- PRC) scores before and after treatment completion. Time derivatives for each variable were calculated to identify temporal changes in scores. Results After treatment completion, K- CBCL scores for total competence (t=−2.34, p=0.044), somatic complaints (t=−2.43, p=0.022), and thought problems (t=−3.03, p=0.006) were higher than the scores prior to treatment. Familial relationship in K- PRC was significantly improved after treatment (t=2.11, p=0.045). Time derivatives of the significant K- CBCL subscales, except for the withdrawal and externalizing symptom scores, showed a tendency to increase with time. Conclusion Although familial relationship and social competence improved after treatment, the levels of somatic complaints and thought problems increased following neuroblastoma treatment.
