Novel Tunable Peace-Logo Planar Metamaterial Unit-Cell for Millimeter-Wave Applications

        Farzad Khajeh‐Khalili,Mohammad AminHonarvar 한국전자통신연구원 2018 ETRI Journal Vol.40 No.3

A novel class of planar metamaterial unit‐cells consisting of a peace logo pattern is presented. A significant advantage of the proposed peace‐logo planar metamaterial (PLPM) unit‐cell over existing designs is its tunability, simplicity, and compatibility with microstrip structures. The theoretical analysis is founded on the famous transmission‐line theory for the metamaterial concept. Then, the tunable dual‐band two‐sided PLPM (TSPLPM) unit‐cell is designed by printing a similar PLPM pattern at the bottom of the substrate. The influence of the bottom PLPM pattern on the resonance frequencies of the unit‐cell was analyzed by performing numerical simulations using CST Microwave Studio 2017 and HFSSv15 simulators. The results of the numerical simulations demonstrated that the proposed TSPLPM has the ability to control the resonance frequencies over 50 GHz–75 GHz for millimeter‐wave applications.

Identification and Characterization of a Putative Baculoviral Transcriptional Factor IE-1 from Choristoneura fumiferana Granulovirus

( Kianoush Khajeh Reshidan ),( Nasha Nassoury ),( Abderrazzak Merzouki ),( Claude Guertin ) 생화학분자생물학회 2002 BMB Reports Vol.35 No.6

A gene that encodes a protein homologue to baculoviral IE-1 was identified and sequenced in the genome of the Choristoneura fumiferana granulovirus (ChfuGV). The gene has an 1278 nucleotide (nt) open-reading frame (ORF) that encodes 426 amino acids with an estimated molecular weight of 50.33 kDa. At the nucleotide level, several cis-acting regulatory elements were detected within the promoter region of the ie-1 gene of ChfuGV along with other studied granuloviruses (GVs). Two putative CCAAT elements were detected within the noncoding leader region of this gene; one was located on the opposite strand at -92 and the other at -420 nt from the putative start triplet. Two baculoviral late promoter motifs (TAAG) were also detected within the promoter region of the ie-1 gene of ChfuGV. A single polyadenylation signal, AATAAA, was located 18nt downstream of the putative translational stop codon of ie-1 from ChfuGV. At the protein level, the amino acid sequence data that was derived from the nucleotide sequence in ChfuGV IE-1 was compared to those of the Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV), Xestia c-nigrum granulovirus (XcGV) and Plutella xylosteila granulovirus (PxGV). The C-terminal regions of the granuloviral IE-1 sequences appeared to be more conserved when compared to the N-terminal regions. A domain, similar to the basic helix-loop-helix like (bHLH-like) domain in NPVs, was detected at the C-terminal region of IE-1 from ChfuGV (residues 387 to 414). A phylogenetic tree for baculoviral IE-1 was constructed using a maximum parsimony analysis, A phylogenetic estimation demonstrates that ChfuGV IE-1 is most closely related to that of CpGV.

Choristoneura fumiferana Granulovirus p74 Protein, a Highly Conserved Baculoviral Envelope Protein

        ( Kianoush Khajeh Rashidan ),( Nasha Nassoury ),( Samia Tazi ),( Paresa N. Giannopoulos ),( Claude Guertin ) 생화학분자생물학회 2003 BMB Reports Vol.36 No.5

A gene that encodes a homologue to baculoviral p74, an envelope-associated viral structural protein, has been identified and sequenced on the genome of Choristoneura fumiferana granulovirus (ChfuGV). A part of the ChfuGV p74 gene was located on an 8.9 kb BamHI subgenomic fragment using different sets of degenerated primers. These were designed using the results of the protein sequencing of a major 74kDa structural protein that is associated with the occlusion-derived virus (ODV). The gene has a 1992 nucleotide (nt) open-reading frame (OW) that encodes a protein with 663 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 74,812 Da. Comparative studies revealed the presence of two major conserved regions in the ChfuGV p74 protein. This study also shows that all of the p74 proteins contain two putative transmembrane domains at their C-terminal segments. At the nucleotide sequence level, two late promoter motifs (TAAG and GTAAG) were located upstream of the first ATG of the p74 gene. The gene contained a canonical poly(A) signal, AATAAA, at its 3` non-translated region. A phylogenetic tree for baculoviral p74 was constructed using a maximum parsimony analysis. The phylogenetic estimation demonstrated that ChfuGV p74 is related the closest to those of Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV) and Phthorimaea operculella granulovirus (PhopGV).

Variation of the auditory system in the Indian Gerbil, Tatera indica Hardwicke, 1807, (Muridae, Rodentia) from the east of Iran

        Asghar Khajeh,Zeinolabedin Mohammadi,Fatemeh Ghorbani,Javad Meshkani 국립중앙과학관 2019 Journal of Asia-Pacific Biodiversity Vol.12 No.2

The Indian Gerbil (Tatera indica) is one of the most successful species in the east of Iran regarding the population size and distributional range. Many factors are effective in the success of this species, but the tympanic bulla and external ear with a special role in increasing sensitivity could be very important. In this study, these two characters were examined in 108 skulls of the adult Indian Gerbil from different localities in the east of Iran. The results of this study show an increasing trend in the volume of tympanic bulla and length of external ear from higher to the lower latitudes in accordance with Allen's rule. This increase is significant in the southeast Iran population. The increase of the body size in the Indian Gerbil was also documented from the northeast toward the southeast Iran. The negative correlation between the body size and latitude implies thermoregulatory response of the Indian Gerbil to the cold climate of the northeast Iran. It can also reflect food scarcity in desert areas of the southeast Iran comparing with the northeast areas inhabiting by the Indian Gerbil. This study proposed that an increase in auditory sensitivity would be advantageous for the gerbil's ability to escape predation, to mate, and to compete for resources.

        ( Kianoush Khajeh Rashidan ),( Nasha Nassoury ),( Paresa N. Giannopoulos ),( Claude Guertin ) 생화학분자생물학회 2002 BMB Reports Vol.35 No.6

A gene that encodes a homologue to baculoviral ODVP-6E/ODV-E56, a baculoviral envelope-associated viral structural protein, has been identified and sequenced on the genome of Choristoneura fumiferana granulovirus(ChfuGV). The ChfuGV odvp-6e/odv-e56 gene was located on an 11-kb BamHI subgenomic fragment using different sets of degenerated primers, which were designed using the results of the protein sequencing of a major 39 kDa structural protein that is associated with the occlusion-derived virus (ODV). The gene has a 1062 nucleotide (nt) open-reading frame (ORF) that encodes a protein with 353 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 38.5 kDa. The amino acid sequence data that was derived from the nucleotide sequence in ChfuGV was compared to those of other baculoviruses. ChfuGV ODVP-6E/ODV-E56, along with other baculoviral ODVP-6E/ODV-E56 proteins, all contained two putative transmembrane domains at their C-terminus. Several putative N- and O-glycosylation, N-myristoylation, and phosphorylation sites were detected in the ChfuGV ODVP-6E/ODV-E56 protein. A similar pattern was detected when a hydrophobicity-plots comparison was performed on ChfuGV ODVP-6E/ODV-E56 with other baculoviral homologue proteins. At the nucleotide level, a late promoter motif (CTAAG) was located at -14 nt upstream to the start codon of the ChfuGV odvp-6e/odv-e56 gene. A slight variant of the polyadenylation signal, AATAAT, was detected at the position +10 nt that is downstream from the termination signal. A phylogenetic tree for baculoviral ODVP-6E/ODV-E56 was constructed using a maximum parsimony analysis. The phylogenetic estimation demonstrated that ChfuGV ODVP-6E/ODV-E56 is most closely related to those of Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV) and Plutella xylostella granulovirus (PxGV).

      • Fashion set design with an emphasis on fabric composition using the interactive genetic algorithm

        Mahnaz Khajeh,Pedram Payvandy,Seyyed Javad Derakhshan 한국의류학회 2016 Fashion and Textiles Vol.3 No.1

Today, with increasing development of digital technologies and their use to promote and accelerate artistic production trends as well as decreasing utilization of manual and traditional methods, the use of computers has had a special place in fashion design. The present research seeks to design a fashion system utilizing a set of fabric patterns through the interactive genetic algorithm to produce artistic creativity and a set of clothes designs. First, clothes components, including top, crown, skirt, blouse, sleeve and shoes, and fabric patterns proportionate to each clothes component are designed and coded separately. This system combines clothes components and fabric pattern set, using the interactive genetic algorithm and laws based on fashion design. Then, fitness of the designs created is determined by the user and next generations are produced by this fitness and evolution principles so fashion design trend is performed by the user’s opinion. The results of evolutions indicate system efficiency in fashion set design using a fabric pattern set at the least cost and shortest time according to user tastes.

Identification, Characterization and Phylogenic Analysis of Conserved Genes within the p74 Gene Region of Choristoneura fumiferana Granulovirus Genome

        ( Kianoush Khajeh Rashidan ),( Nasha Nassoury ),( Paresa N. Giannopoulos ),( Yves Mauffette ),( Claude Guertin ) 생화학분자생물학회 2004 BMB Reports Vol.37 No.6

The genes located within the p74 gene region of the Choristoneura fumiferana granulovirus (ChfuGV) were identified by sequencing an 8.9 kb BamHI restriction fragment on the ChfuGV genome. The global guanine-cytosine (GC) content of this region of the genome was 33.02%. This paper presents the ORFs within the p74 gene region along with their transcriptional orientations. This region contains a total of 15 open reading frames (ORFs). Among those, 8 ORFs were found to be homologues to the baculoviral ORFs: Cf-i-p , Cf-ⅵ, Cf-ⅶ, Cf-ⅷ (ubiquitin), Cf-xi (pp3l), Cf-xⅱ (lef-ll), Cf-xⅲ (sod) and Cf-xv-p (p74). To date, no specific function has been assigned to the ORFs: Cf-i, Cf-ⅱ, Cf-ⅲ, Cf-ⅳ, Cf-v, Cf-ⅵ, Cf-ⅶ, Cf-ⅸ and Cf-x. The most noticeable ORFs located in this region of the ChfuGV genome were ubiquitin, lef-11, sod, fibrillin and p74. The phylogenetic trees (constructed using conceptual products of major conserved ORFs) and gene arrangement in this region were used to further examine the classification of the members of the granulovirus genus. Comparative studies demonstrated that ChfuGV along with the Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV), Phthorimaea operculella granulovirus (PhopGV), Adoxophyes orana granulovirus (AoGV) and Cryptophlebia leucotreta granulovirus (CIGV) share a high degree of amino acids sequence and gene arrangement preservation within the studied region. Theses results support a previous report, which classified a granuloviruses into 2 distinct groups : Group I: ChfuGV, CpV, PhopGV and AoGV and Group Ⅱ: Xestia c-nigrum granulovirus (XcGV) and Plutella xylostella granulovirus (PxGV). The phlogenetic and gene arrangement studies also placed CIGV as a novel member of the Group I granuloviruses.
