Over the last 10 years, significant changes have taken place in the world of container shipping. The size and the speed of the quay-side crane have been increased considerably. As a result, the stiffness of a crane is decreased and the sway oscillation of cargo may become violent. The purpose of this paper is to determine the design force caused by the sway oscillation of the cargo, lifted by four ropes, with an initial fleet angle, and the governing equations of the lifting system for an anti-sway control system design.

The authors in this manuscript aimed to provide a practical importance of the differential diagnosis of intracranial brain tumor with emphasis on non-neoplastic abnormalities such as cytotoxic edema of the penumbra zone in strokes. The well known SOLs are cerebral ischemic, inflammatory and dysplastic lesions, which intraaxially imitate glioma and other neurogenic tumors. Brain tumor is the one of common intracranial space-occupying lesions (SOLs) on the diagnostic images. However, many non-neoplastic lesions may be indistinguishable from tumors. Especially, early mortality used to be caused by space-occupying hyperacute ischemic stroke, brain edema and herniations. For the retrospective analysis, the authors reviewed the patient charts, the emergency brain Computerized Tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), clinical stroke history. From Jan. 2003 to Dec. 2003, we managed total 61 acute strokes in ICU. Even though we operated six decompressive craniotomies, nine stereotactic craniotomies including two procedures of brain biopsy and three extraventricular drainage procedures, three patients (4.91%) were finally expired out from the induced herniation and medullary failure by those aggressive strokes. 43 patients (70.5%) were recovered good from stroke attack. 15 patients (24.6%) were improved with residual neurologic deficits. In conclusion, aside from growing efforts of the radiologist to make the early diagnostic impression, the authors suggest that urgent neurosurgical explorations with the pathologic diagnostic decision should be requested to decrease the fatality.

This study was conducted to examine the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of Bulgogi seasoning sauce added with Angelica gigas Nakai extract and salted liquid of Prunus mume. Increasing the amount of salted liquid of Prunus mume in the Bulgogi sauce added with Angelica gigas Nakai extract made its pH and brix decreased. And the lightness(L) value of the samples ranged from 22.50 to 23.43, and the redness(a) and yellowness(b) increased. For the textural characteristics of Bulgogi meat, the addition of salted liquid of Prunus mume decreased its hardness. In the sensory evaluation, Bulgogi added with 10% of salted liquid of Prunus mume made excellent scores in texture, taste and overall preference. Therefore, this results suggest that 10% of salted liquid of Prunus mume and Angelica gigas Nakai extract should be applied to Bulgogi sauce in order to satisfy its preference and functionality. For the changes of total viable cells of Bulgogi seasoning sauce by the storage period, increased amount of salted liquid of Prunus mume showed their number lower than that of the control.

Objectives: To address most probable and suitable method for designing clinical trial intervening Traditional Korean Herbal Medicine on hwa-byung. Study Design: A systematic review of research studies of complementary and/or alternative medical(CAM) treatment of depression, and of domestic clinical trials of Traditional Korean Medicine, and of Chinese clinical trials of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Methods: Randomized, controlled trials(RCTs) of treatment of depression intervening herbal medicine were searched through MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and CNKI databases. Also, domestic RCTs intervening Traditional Korean Herbal Medicine were searched through Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal and Korean studies Information Service System(KISS). Studies were evaluated using Jadad scale and self-designed tool for this study. Results: Thirty four RCT studies(10 from MEDLINE, 16 from CNKI, 8 domestic studies) of herbal medicine met inclusion criteria. Mean Jadad score of studies published in English was 2.8±0.79, in Chinese 1.94±0.77, and in Korean 2.75±0.71. Twenty one percent of studies included pattern differentiation in their inclusion criteria. Twenty nine percent of studies used combined treatment of herbal and conventional medicine. Among studies on depression, 9% included Complementary Medical assessing tools. Conclusions: There is shortage of domestic clinical trial involving herbal medicine. In China, studies tend to focus on investigating effect of Combined treatment of herbal and conventional medicine on depression. Clinical trial(s) of hwa-byung should provide good internal validity by describing methodology for randomization, double-blinding, and attrition. Also, specific guideline for clinical trial, including Traditional Korean Medical aspects across inclusion criteria, and assessing tools is needed.
Construction and integration of soybean RFLP genetic linkage maps

Two F₂ soybean (Glycine max L.) populations, Suwon 157 x Danbaekkong’ and ‘Pureunkong’ x ‘Jinpumkong 2’, were evaluated with restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers to construct RFLP genetic linkage maps. For the Suwon 157 and Danbaekkong population, 107 F₂-derived lines were scored for segregation at 97 RFLP loci. Molecular-marker analysis with Mapmaker computer program revealed that the genetic map consisted of 72 RFLP loci which converged into 18 linkage groups and covered more than 600 centimorgan (cM). For the Pureunkong and Jinpumkong 2 population, 100 F₂-derived lines were evaluated for segregation at 92 loci. The genetic linkage map of these 74 loci covered about 700 cM and converged into 20 linkage groups. Two idependent maps were integrated with Joinmap computer package on the basis of 35 RFLP markers which were common to both maps. The integrated map covered about 950 cM with 124 markers classified into 24 linkage groups. As four parental soybean genotypes from both populations have been used to make traditional soybean food products such as tofu, sobean milk, and soybean sprouts, this integrated map will provide useful information on the map position of genes which are associated with special food processing traits in soybean.
