The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of roof-top plans on output power of photovoltaic system mounted on apartment buildings. Roof-top plans of apartment buildings depends on the shape of the roof-top, the type of water supply and the forms and arrangement of the apartment buildings. As a result of shading analysis with various rooftop plans, the area that are not shaded in day time was very small. Therefore, we decided a space that can receive solar radiation for more than 5 hours even if the shadows occur as a standard. As a result of simulation of annual power generation, the generation amount when the panels were mounted on a space where were decided as standard was higher than that the panel were mounted on roof-top not considering shading.

Recently the application of a thermally activated building system (TABS) integrating with the HVAC system in the office has been proposed for energy efficient heating and cooling system. The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of indoor thermal environment and the heat dissipation characteristics of TABS according to the cooling operating condition of TABS in the office building. For this, a 2D transient heat transfer program (Bistra) was used to simulate the cooling operation of TABS integrated with HVAC system in office building. The result shows that intermittent nighttime operation using night-time electricity has the little difference of indoor thermal environment compared to the continuous TABS operation. In comparison of the water temperature control methods of TABS, it is preferable to change the set-point temperature intermittently compared to the outdoor reset control with respect to the daily surface temperature distribution, initial cost and maintenance.
음영조건을 고려한 공동주택 옥상 태양광모듈의 배치계획 평가 연구

During the initial design stage of apartment complex, the photovoltaic(PV) system has been considered as an alternative of renewable energy system and planned to install at the rooftop floor level in general. The electric power generation characteristics can be influenced by the block layout, building orientation and roof top structure because of azimuth angle, tilt angle, and partial shading. This study aims to investigate power generation characteristics of photovoltaic system in apartment buildings by considering the partial shading conditions due to the block layout, building orientation and roof-top structures. For the photovoltaic module arrangement planning in rooftop floor level, shading areas were firstly analyzed due to the adjacent building structure. And the annual and seasonal power generation of PV system were analyzed through the PVsyst simulation results. The results show that shading period at the roof top surface can be increased due to the parapet and water tank. Initial design power capacity can be decreased by considering the daily insolation period and distance between PV modules through the shading simulation. As the number of PV modules decreases, the annual power generation can be decreased. However annual power generation per unit area of PV modules can be increased and performance ratio can be increased above 80%. Also the power generation of PV system can be critically affected by building orientation and the performance ratio can be drastically decreased in east-oriented buildings due to the shading problems caused by adjacent structures at roof top level such as parapet and water tank.

In order to decrease energy consumption of heating and cooling in building, Thermally Activated Building System(TABS) is provided due to energy efficient performance and reduction of peak load. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cooling performance of TABS with Dedicated Outdoor Air system(DOAS) in Korea climate. DOAS coupled with a parallel sensible cooling could be promising because TABS handles sensible heat load only. Compared to Air Handling Unit system(AHU), DOAS allows for 22.3% more use of cooling performance of TABS. The integration of DOAS and TABS increases the potential for building energy saving.
국내 여름철 기후조건에서 DOAS와 TABS 통합시스템 냉방운전시 실내온열환경 및 운전특성 평가

To reduce the energy consumption of HVAC system in buildings, thermally activated building system(TABS) has been applied to low energy building because of energy efficient performance and reduction of peak load. DOAS coupled with a parallel sensible cooling could be promising because TABS handles sensible heat load only. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the indoor thermal environment and cooling operation characteristic of TABS with dedicated outdoor air system(DOAS) in Korea climate. Indoor thermal environment and operation characteristic of TABS integrated with DOAS are investigated at different TABS operation schedules and climate conditions by simulation tests. The result shows that the DOAS is more suitable for hot and humid climates. And also it show that the potential of intermittent operation of TABS.
