The high photocatalytic activity of environmentally benign Keggin-type polyoxometalate (POM) was introducedinto polyethersulfone (PES) membrane to promote membrane anti-fouling and self-cleaning functionality. NeatPES and POM/PES hybrid membranes were synthesized via phase inversion method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) andattenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy proved the success of synthesizingKeggin-type POM. The traits of the membranes were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ATRFTIR,contact angle measurement, porosity and porometer. The hydrophilicity of all the POM/PES hybrid membraneswas enhanced and resulted in the reduction of contact angle of the membrane (52.21±0.1101o, 45.11±0.6657o and50.30±0.1054o) for 0.025, 0.05 and 0.1wt% POM/PES hybrid membranes, respectively, compared to that of the neatPES membrane (57.30±0.0817o). Additionally, all the POM/PES hybrid membranes showed excellent anti-fouling andself-cleaning characteristics as compared to that of the neat PES membrane. 0.05 wt% POM/PES hybrid membraneoutstood all the other membranes, which marks the HA rejection at 77.12% and was able to achieve flux recovery ratio(FRR) of 111.34% with temporal superhydrophilicity effect in just merely 150 seconds at 254 nm UV irradiation.

<P>Receptor-interacting protein kinase-3 (RIP3 or RIPK3) is an essential part of the cellular machinery that executes 'programmed' or 'regulated' necrosis. Here we show that programmed necrosis is activated in response to many chemotherapeutic agents and contributes to chemotherapy-induced cell death. However, we show that RIP3 expression is often silenced in cancer cells due to genomic methylation near its transcriptional start site, thus RIP3-dependent activation of MLKL and downstream programmed necrosis during chemotherapeutic death is largely repressed. Nevertheless, treatment with hypomethylating agents restores RIP3 expression, and thereby promotes sensitivity to chemotherapeutics in a RIP3-dependent manner. RIP3 expression is reduced in tumors compared to normal tissue in 85% of breast cancer patients, suggesting that RIP3 deficiency is positively selected during tumor growth/development. Since hypomethylating agents are reasonably well-tolerated in patients, we propose that RIP3-deficient cancer patients may benefit from receiving hypomethylating agents to induce RIP3 expression prior to treatment with conventional chemotherapeutics.</P>
교정치료 초기에 사용되는 4가지 호선의 초기 치료효과를 비교하기 위한 전향적 임상 실험 연구

본 연구의 목적은 교정치료 초기에 사용되는 스테인레스스틸, 다가닥철선, 초탄성 NiTi, 열활동성 NiTi 재료로 이루어진 총 4가지 호선의 초기 치료효과를 비교하기 위하여 시행되어으며, 실험의 설계는 전향적 임상 실험(prospective randomized clinical trial)으로서 브라질 리오데자네이로 주립 치과대학에 내원한 45명의 고정식 교정장치 환자를 대상으로 시행되었다. 각 호선의 재료는 환자의 치열에 무작위로 배당되었는데 스테인레스스틸은 26명,다가닥철선은 22명,초탄성NiTi는 22명, 열활동성NiTi는 20명에게 할당되었고.8주후에 모형을 다시 제작한 후 3차원 디지털 영상 장비를 이용하여 모형의 치관에 설정된 해부학적 지표의 변화를 측정하였는데 치료전 및 치료후 치열불규칙지수(Dental Irregularlty Index)의 차이로 초기 교정치료 효과를 비교하였다. 분산분석을 시행하여 불규칙지수의 변화를 살펴본 결과 호선의 재료에 따른 초기 치료 효과는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical performance of 4 types of orthodontic wires, indicated for initial tooth alignment: stainless steel, multistranded steel, superelastic and thermoactivated nickel-titanium. A prospective randomized clinical trial was conducted on a sample of 45 patients, at the Dental School of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fixed appliances were fitted and study casts were obtained from each patient. Randomly, the wires were allocated as follows: 26dental arches for superelastic NiTi wires, 22 for stainless steel, 22 for multistranded and 20 for thermoactivated archwires. After 8 weeks, the archwires were removed and impressions for study casts were taken again. Using a 3D digitization technique of defined anatomical points on the study cast crowns, a Dental irregularity Index (Dll) was created for each study cast. The difference between Dll before and after the archwire insertion expressed the aligning effect of the wires. ANOVA tests were employed to evaluate the anatomical point approximation (positive Dll) and separation (negative Dll), for each area of the dental arches: upper and lower whole arch and anterior arch. Results showed no significant difference between the different archwires.

LGR5<SUP>+</SUP> stem cells reside at crypt bottoms, intermingled with Paneth cells that provide Wnt, Notch and epidermal growth factor signals. Here we find that the related RNF43 and ZNRF3 transmembrane E3 ubiquitin ligases are uniquely expressed in LGR5<SUP>+</SUP> stem cells. Simultaneous deletion of the two genes encoding these proteins in the intestinal epithelium of mice induces rapidly growing adenomas containing high numbers of Paneth and LGR5<SUP>+</SUP> stem cells. In vitro, growth of organoids derived from these adenomas is arrested when Wnt secretion is inhibited, indicating a dependence of the adenoma stem cells on Wnt produced by adenoma Paneth cells. In the HEK293T human cancer cell line, expression of RNF43 blocks Wnt responses and targets surface-expressed frizzled receptors to lysosomes. In the RNF43-mutant colorectal cancer cell line HCT116, reconstitution of RNF43 expression removes its response to exogenous Wnt. We conclude that RNF43 and ZNRF3 reduce Wnt signals by selectively ubiquitinating frizzled receptors, thereby targeting these Wnt receptors for degradation.

Proliferation of the self-renewing epithelium of the gastric corpus occurs almost exclusively in the isthmus of the glands, from where cells migrate bidirectionally toward pit and base. The isthmus is therefore generally viewed as the stem cell zone. We find that the stem cell marker Troy is expressed at the gland base by a small subpopulation of fully differentiated chief cells. By lineage tracing with a Troy-eGFP-ires-CreERT2 allele, single marked chief cells are shown to generate entirely labeled gastric units over periods of months. This phenomenon accelerates upon tissue damage. Troy<SUP>+</SUP> chief cells can be cultured to generate long-lived gastric organoids. Troy marks a specific subset of chief cells that display plasticity in that they are capable of replenishing entire gastric units, essentially serving as quiescent ''reserve'' stem cells. These observations challenge the notion that stem cell hierarchies represent a ''one-way street.''

<P>Retention of the low resistance state (LRS) in resistive random access memory (ReRAM) significantly decreases at increasing electrical stress due to barrier lowering of ion migration and Joule heating. The LRS failure rate under externally applied bias could be modeled by adopting an Arrhenius equation for ion migration. Accelerated retention failure under voltage stress is explained by the combination of two effects: 1) lowering of the ion migration barrier by external electric field and 2) thermal energy enhancement through local Joule heating. Based on this model, an improved methodology for ReRAM data retention test is proposed, allowing to reduce the testing temperature and the experimental time by several orders of magnitude by applying a relatively low voltage.</P>

3차원 형상정보 추출기술은 3D스캐너에 활용되어 실물의부터 3차원 모델을 생성하는데 사용되고 있다. 현재까지 주로 사용되는 기술은 레이저광을 이용하여 3차원 모델을 만드는 기술과 스테레오기법에 의한 방법들이 사용되고 있었다. 본 논문에서는 모아레기법을 사용하여 영상정보를 프레임단위로 해석함으로써 3차원 형상 정보를 빠른 시간내에 추출하고, 수평 360도 방향에 대해서는 3∼4프레임을 해석하여 형상정보를 통합하였고, 이로부터 3차원 모델을 생성하였다. 모아레기법의 장점은 3차원 정보를 레이저기법보다 정밀하게 추출할 수가 있었다. 본 논문에서는 모아레영상을 해석하여 3차원 형상정보를 추출하는 방법, 추출된 3차원 형상으로부터 메쉬최적화와 텍스춰매핑(Texture Mapping)을 사용하여 3차원 모델을 형성하는 방법들을 제안한다.
