Thermochromic Polydiacetylene Nanotube from Amphiphilic Macrocyclic Diacetylene in Aqueous Solution

<P>Creation of tubular structures through the self-assembly of macrocyclic molecules has gained great attention in the chemical, biochemical, and material sciences. Through a designed introduction of two octaethylene oxide and two diacetylene moieties, we prepared a macrocycle <B>MCDA-BisOEG</B>, which is water-soluble and photopolymerizable and displays a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior. The hydrodynamic diameter of <B>MCDA-BisOEG</B>, measured by dynamic light scattering method, was ca. 6.5 nm at 25 °C and increased sharply to ca. 2 μm at temperatures above 34 °C (LCST). Below the LCST, the macrocycle in aqueous solution formed tubular structures, which upon UV irradiation generated blue conjugated polydiacetylene (PDA) nanotubes. The PDA nanotubes undergo a blue-to-red color change when heated above the LCST. No polymerization occurs above the LCST owing to the disordered aggregation of the diacetylene monomer. This is the first example of the preparation of a macrocycle-based, thermoresponsive, conjugated polymer nanotube in aqueous solution.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
궤양성 대장염에서 점소 당항원 sTn 과 Tn 의 발현에 관한 연구

Objectives: Long standing observation, which may relate either to the causes or the effects of UC, reveals that there is a pronounced alteration of mucin such as quantitative and qualitative abnormalities of mucin glycoprotein. But recently in situ hybridization technique showed no specific difference in the expression of apomucin mRNA in UC. Therefore we investigated whether abnormality of mucin was originated from defect in glycosylation. And we also tried to find differences in the expression of Tn and sTn antigens between Korean and Jewish patients with UC. Methods: We performed the immunohistochemical staining using the monoclonal antibody of mucin carbohydrate antigens Tn and sTn in 19 patients with UC. Results: Tn and sTn antigens were not expressed throughout the crypt and surface epithelium in normal colon but both of mucin carbohydrates antigens were well expressed in mild UC, Tn antigen was seen in the surface epithelium with perinuclear pattern and sTn antigen was shown not only in surface but also in crypt epithelium. In severe UC, Tn antigen was well expressed, but sTn antigen was not expressed. Tn antigen seemed to be ex-pressed more frequently than sTn antigen with severity of inflammation. These results were similar in Korean and Jewish patients with UC. Conclusion: These results suggest that inflammatory bowel disease has some deterioration in the step of glycosylation in the cytoplasm and there was no racial difference in the expression of Tn and sTn antigen in Korean and Jewish patients with UC.

While a caisson used for breakwater is carried by a floating dock, accompanying stability problem by its existing motions in the dock is quite important and should be pre-checked against sea environmental condition. In the stability analysis, the acceleration, velocity, angle of roll and pitch motions are important to calculate frictional force and separation force. If separation force becomes bigger than frictional force, serious collision may be occurred between caisson and floating dock. In this study, stability evaluation during the transportation of a caisson on floating dock for breakwater was performed by using a commercial program, HydroD and CHARM3D/HARP.
퍼지이론과 베이지안 갱신 기반의 과거 주행정보를 이용한 차량항법 장치의 교통상황 예측과 최적경로 계획

경제가 성장함에 따라 자동차는 현대인의 생활에 많은 영향을 끼치고 있다. 차량항법장치는 운전자에게 목적지까지의 경로를 안내해 주기 때문에 많은 편의를 제공하고 있다. 그러나 개인의 차량 소유가 대중화됨에 따라 교통혼잡이 발생하지만 차량항법장치는 환경을 고려하지 않는 일방적인 경로를 계획한다. 기존의 차량항법장치는 시간대와 상관없이 출발지와 목적지만 같으면 항상 동일한 경로와 소요시간을 제공하는 한계를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 누적된 과거의 주행정보를 퍼지이론과 베이지안 갱신에 적용하여 교통상황을 예측하고 경로 계획에 반영하는 방법을 제안한다. 퍼지 이론을 통해 과거 주행정보의 출발 시간대와 속도율로 분류하고 베이지안 갱신을 사용하여 각 시간대에서 벌어질 교통상황을 확률로 계산한다. 전자지도에서 출발지와 목적지를 포함한 타원관심영역을 설정하고 Dijkstra와 A* 알고리즘을 융합하여 교통상황을 고려한 최적의 경로를 계획한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능과 정확성은 계획된 경로를 실제 주행함으로써 예측된 소요시간과 실제 주행시간을 비교하여 검증하였다. The vehicles play a significant role in modern people's life as economy grows. The development of car navigation system(CNS) provides various convenience because it shows the driver where they are and how to get to the destination from the point of source. However, the existing map-based CNS does not consider any environments such as traffic congestion. Given the same starting point and destination, the system always provides the same route and the required time. This paper proposes a path planning method with traffic prediction by applying historical driving information to the Fuzzy theory and Bayesian update. Fuzzy theory classifies the historical driving information into groups of leaving time and speed rate, and the traffic condition of each time zone is calculated by Bayesian update. An ellipse area including starting and destination points is restricted in order to reduce the calculation time. The accuracy and practicality of the proposed scheme are verified by several experiments and comparisons with real navigation.
여드름 환자의 동반증상 연구 및 환자 특성별 HRV 분석

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the symptoms accompanied with acne and HRV pattern of the acne patients. Methods: We reviewed 60 acne patients(age 15-38) who visited ○○ hospital from January 2010 to October 2011. We investigated the symptoms accompanied with acne of 60 patients and evaluated HRV of 41 acne patients. The data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney test using SPSS/PC ver 13.0 program. Results: 1. Prevalence of female post-adolescent acne was 66.7% in this study. The symptoms accompanied with acne were dischezia(35%), gastric discomfort(28.3%) in all patients and dysmenorrhea(40%), leukorrhea(38%), irregular menstrual period (24%) in female patients. 2. SDNN, RMSSD, VLF and HF of female were significantly lower than male. 3. SDNN, TP and VLF of un-dysmenorrhea group were significantly lower than dysmenorrhea group. 4. PSI of under 6 months group was significantly higer than over 6 months group. 5. In postadolescent acne patients SDNN, RMSSD, TP, LF and HF were significantly lower and PSI was significantly higher than adolescent acne patients. Conclusions: There are many female post-adolescent acne pateints and the assessment of the symptoms accompanied with acne and stress degree is helpful in treating acne. The further research and development about the diagnostic and therapeutic methods of acne are needed in oriental obstetrics and gynecology field.
지패산(芷貝散) 추출물의 염증억제와 선천면역 활성에 의한 항암 효과

Objectives: This study was designed to investigate the anti-tumor metastasis by anti-inflammatory and innate immunomodulating effects of extracts of Jipae-san on cancer cells. Methods: Antimetastatic experiments were conducted in vivo mouse model by using 4T1 mouse mammary carcinoma cells. Cell viability of Jipae-san was tested with 4T1 mouse mammary carcinoma cells, colon 26-M3.1 carcinoma cells and macrophage. In addition expression of TNF-α and NO induced by LPS was measured after treating with Jipae-san. To observe innate immunomodulating effects of Jipae-san on macrophage, we measured TNF-α, IL-12, IL-6 and MCP-1, respectively. Cell cytotoxicity was tested with the macrophage stimulated with Jipae-san and we evaluated the activation of TNF-α and NO. And the effect of Jipae-san on metastasis was measured without NK-cell using GM1 serum. Results: Intravenous inoculation of Jipae-san significantly inhibited metastasis of 4T1 mouse mammary carcinoma cells. In an in vitro cytotoxicity analysis, cell growth are closer to 100% less than 1,000 μg/ml concentration. The expression of TNF-α and NO induced by LPS after treating Jipae-san was down regulated in dose-dependent manner. Level of cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-12, IL-6 and MCP-1 of Jipae-san group were up regulated in compared to the control group. The macrophage stimulated with Jipae-san significantly inhibits the cancer cell at ratio of 10:1, 20:1. The activation of NO was significantly up regualted in a group of 5:1, 10:1, 20:1. The depletion of NK-cells by anti-asialo GM1 serum partly abolished the inhibitory effect of Jipae-san on tumor metastasis. Conclusions: Jipae-san appears to have considerable activity on the anti-metastasis by inflammation control and activation of innate immune system.

This study was conducted to evaluate the inhibitory effect of ursolicacid from Prunella vulgaris on osteoclast differentiation. Methods: MTT-assay was performed to estimate cytotoxicity of ursolic acidfrom Prunella vulgaris in BMMs stimulated with M-CSF. TRAP staining, TRAPactivity and Real-time PCR were performed to know the inhibitory effect onosteoclast differentiation. Actin ring formation were analysed to observe the effectof ursolic acid from Prunella vulgaris. Results: Ursolic acid from Prunella vulgaris has no cytotoxicity at the concentrationof 1 μg/ml or lower. Ursolic acid decreased the number of TRAP positive cells and the expression of NFATc1 gene, c-Fos gene, TRAP and OSCAR in BMMs stimulatedwith RANKL. Ursolic acid restrained the formation of actin ring. Ursolic acidinhibited NF-κB activity by inducing degradation of p-IkBa.Conclusions: Ursolic acid from Prunella vulgaris has the inhibitory effect ofosteoclast differentiation and bone resorption. Futher studies are needed to treatosteoporosis by usolic acid from Prunella vulgaris.
