The plain strain of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet in magnetic pulse forming was investigated by numerical simulation and experimental method. Combination of uniform pressure coil and Holmberg's specimen was employed to evaluate the plain strain of AZ31 sheet. The numerical simulation for magnetic pulse plain strain of AZ31 sheet is performed by means of ANSYS FEA software. The magnetic flux density of uniform pressure coil was distributed uniformly, especially at the center of gauged area of AZ31 sheet directly in relation to the deformation behavior of AZ31 sheet. The velocity of typical point increases as increasing energy, and the more position closes to the center of sheet the higher velocity achieves. The forming height is increased with increasing discharge voltage. Compared with C=768 μF and C=1536 μF, the capacitance of 1152 μF is more effective for forming, which is confirmed by experiments. The peak velocity at the center of sheet is about 105 m/s. The major strains of magnetic pulse plane strain lie approximately in the strain ranges of 5.83-6.45%. However, the 3.22-3.82% (major strain) are the limit strains in quasi-static condition. The experimental results indicate that the major strain of AZ31 sheet improves about 75% compared with the quasi-static case.

In this paper, we investigate the growth and fixed points of meromorphic solutions of higher order linear differential equations with meromorphic coefficients and their derivatives. Because of the restriction of differential equations, we obtain that the properties of fixed points of meromorphic solutions of higher order linear differential equations with meromorphic coefficients and their derivatives are more interesting than that of general transcendental meromorphic functions. Our results extend the previous results due to M. Frei, M. Ozawa, G. Gundersen, and J. K. Langley and Z. Chen and K. Shon.
Enhancing the Anaerobic Digestion of Corn Stalks Using Composite Microbial Pretreatment

A composite microbial system (XDC-2) was used to pretreat and hydrolyze corn stalk to enhance anaerobic digestion. The results of pretreatment indicated that sCOD concentrations of hydrolysate were highest (8,233 mg/l) at the fifth day. XDC-2 efficiently degraded the corn stalk by nearly 45%, decreasing the cellulose content by 22.7% and the hemicellulose content by 74.1%. Total levels of volatile products peaked on the fifth day. The six major compounds present were ethanol (0.29 g/l), acetic acid (0.55 g/l), 1,2-ethanediol (0.49 g/l), propionic acid (0.15 g/l), butyric acid (0.22 g/l), and glycerine (2.48 g/l). The results of anaerobic digestion showed that corn stalks treated by XDC-2 produced 68.3% more total biogas and 87.9% more total methane than untreated controls. The technical digestion time for the treated corn stalks was 35.7% shorter than without treatment. The composite microbial system pretreatment could be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly microbial method for efficient biological conversion of corn stalk into bioenergy.

Anthocyanidin synthase (ANS, leucoanthocyanidin oxygenase), a 2-oxoglutarate iron-dependent oxygenase, catalyzed the penultimate step in the biosynthesis of the anthocyanin class of flavonoids, from the colorless leucoanthocyanidins to the colored anthocyanidins. The full-length cDNA and genomic DNA sequences of ANS gene (designated as GbANS) were isolated from Ginkgo biloba for the first time. The full-length cDNA of GbANS contained a 1062-bp open reading frame (ORF) encoding a 354-amino-acid protein. The genomic DNA analysis showed that GbANS gene had three exons and two introns. The deduced GbANS protein showed high identities to other plant ANSs. The conserved amino acids (H-X-D) ligating ferrous iron and residues (R-X-S) participating in 2-oxoglutarate binding were found in GbANS at the similar positions like other ANSs. Southern blot analysis indicated that GbANS belonged to a multi-gene family. The expression analysis by real-time PCR showed that GbANS expressed in a tissue-specific manner in G. biloba. GbANS was also found to be up-regulated by all of the six tested abiotic stresses, UV-B, abscisic acid, sucrose, salicylic acid, cold and ethylene, consistent with the promoter region analysis of GbANS. The recombinant protein was successfully expressed in E. coli strain with pET-28a vector. The in vitro enzyme activity assay by HPLC indicated that recombinant GbANS protein could catalyze the formation the cyanidin from leucocyanidin and conversion of dihydroquercetin to quercetin, suggesting GbANS is a bifunctional enzyme within the anthocyanidin and flavonol biosynthetic pathway.

Flower-like and plate-like CuO nanopowder has been successfully synthesized using a facile microwave-assisted synthetic route. The morphology and size of the final products strongly depended on microwave power. The phase, structures and morphologies of the as-prepared products were investigated in detail by BET surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, the chemical oxygen demand of polluted lake water was employed for characterization of these new photocatalysts. The results showed correlations between the morphology of CuO micro-crystals and their catalytic properties.

ODV-Associated Proteins of the <i>Pieris rapae</i> Granulovirus

<P><I>Alphabaculovirus</I> (lepidopteran-specific nucleopolyhedroviruses, NPV) and <I>Betabaculovirus</I> (granuloviruses, GV) are two main genera of the family Baculoviridae. The virion proteomes of <I>Alphabaculovirus</I> have been well studied; however, the <I>Betabaculovirus</I> virion compositions remain unclear. <I>Pieris rapae</I> granulovirus (PrGV) can kill larvae of <I>P. rapae</I>, a worldwide and important pest of mustard family crops. In this study, the occlusion-derived virus (ODV)-associated proteins of PrGV were identified using three mass spectrometry (MS) approaches. The MS analyses demonstrated that 47 proteins were present in PrGV-ODV. Of the 47 PrGV-ODV proteins, 33 have homologues identified previously in other baculovirus ODV/BVs, whereas 14 (P10, Pr21, Pr29, Pr35, Pr42, Pr54, P45/48, Pr83, Pr84, Pr89, Pr92, Pr111, Pr114 and FGF3) were newly identified ODV proteins. Seven of the 14 newly identified ODV proteins are specific to <I>Betabaculovirus</I>, including Pr35, Pr42, Pr54, Pr83, Pr84, Pr111 and Pr114. Furthermore, the data derived from these MS approaches were validated by immunoblotting analysis using antisera prepared from 11 randomly selected recombinant PrGV-ODV proteins (including 5 <I>Betabaculovirus</I>-unique proteins). Comparison analyses revealed the similar and different compositions between <I>Betabaculovirus</I> and <I>Alphabaculovirus</I> virions, which deepen our understanding of the baculovirus virion structure and provide helpful information on <I>Betabaculovirus</I>–host interaction studies.</P><P>We used three mass spectrometry (MS) approaches to identify the occlusion-derived virus (ODV)-associated proteins of the <I>Pieris rapae</I> Granulovirus. Dephasing Effect on the Carrier-light Interaction in Terahertz Quantum Cascade Lasers

We study the dephasing effect on the carrier-light interaction in terahertz quantum cascade lasers by using a rate-equation method including the optical field. The time evolution of the gain coefficient and the stimulated radiation rate are shown. We theoretically provide an ultrafast microscopic process for the conversion of a working terahertz quantum cascade laser from an unsaturated to a saturated state.
