        Bucillamine prevents cisplatin-induced ototoxicity through induction of glutathione and antioxidant genes

        <P>Bucillamine is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This study investigated the protective effects of bucillamine against cisplatin-induced damage in auditory cells, the organ of Corti from postnatal rats (P2) and adult Balb/C mice. Cisplatin increases the catalytic activity of caspase-3 and caspase-8 proteases and the production of free radicals, which were significantly suppressed by pretreatment with bucillamine. Bucillamine induces the intranuclear translocation of Nrf2 and thereby increases the expression of γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase (γ-GCS) and glutathione synthetase (GSS), which further induces intracellular antioxidant glutathione (GSH), heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) and superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2). However, knockdown studies of HO-1 and SOD2 suggest that the protective effect of bucillamine against cisplatin is independent of the enzymatic activity of HO-1 and SOD. Furthermore, pretreatment with bucillamine protects sensory hair cells on organ of Corti explants from cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity concomitantly with inhibition of caspase-3 activation. The auditory-brainstem-evoked response of cisplatin-injected mice shows marked increases in hearing threshold shifts, which was markedly suppressed by pretreatment with bucillamine <I>in vivo</I>. Taken together, bucillamine protects sensory hair cells from cisplatin through a scavenging effect on itself, as well as the induction of intracellular GSH.</P>

      • 악안면 골격 형태에 따른 교합평면각의 변화에 관한 두부 방사선학적 연구

        A correlation analysis was made to understand the interaction between the growth patterns of some craniofacial skeletal components and occlusal plane inclination. 5 angular measurements(S.a. Ar.a, Go.a, UGo.a, LGo.a), 6 linear measurements(ACBL, PCBL, RH. MBL. AFH. PFH) and OP/SN. obtained from 83 cephalometric tracing records, were selected and the relationship between the occlusal plane angle and those measurements were analyzed statistically. Ramus Height(r=-0.55), Posterior Facial Height(r=-0.41), were found to be negatively related with Occlusal Plane angle, while Lower Gonial angle(r= 0.35), Saddle angle(r= 0.24) were found to be positively related with Occlusal Plane angle(p(0.05). The results obtained from the above analysis were further assessed with stepwise regression analysis, using Occlusal Plane angle as a dependant variable, and RH, LGo.a and S.a as explanatory variables. Stepwise regression analysis revealed that all the explanatory variables were found to be significant.(p<0.05) [OP/SN] = -8.74-0.33(RH)+0.23(S.a)+0.20(LGo.a). (R²=0.44). This stepwise regression analysis explains, to some extent, the relationship between the growth patterns of some craniofacial skeletal components and the occlusal plane inclination. 1. The inclination of Occlusal Plane angle is noticeably related with the growth patterns of some craniofacial skeletal components, i.e. RH, PFH, Saddle angle and Lower Gonial angle 2. In high Occlusal Plane angle, the Ram us Height tends to be shorter, and the Saddle angle and Lower Gonial angle tend to be obtuse.

        Conflicts between individuals are quite natural and they can act as an positive contributing factor not only to the development of an individual but also to the organization to which one belongs. But too much conflicts will always induce dissatisfaction and stresses, which will be destructive and harmful to all of them, and that is why we are always tying to seek(find) out the causes for the origination of conflicts and remedies to cope with them effectively. The present study, as the first one in a series of studies which our researchers contemplate executing, was designed to develop a measure of job satisfaction for dental laboratory technicians. One job satisfaction measure and two job satisfaction related measures, one for faithfulness for the job and the other for environmental characteristics of dental laboratory were newly developed. The newly developed measures were comprised of a total of 38 items, which were each 12 items for job satisfaction and faithfulness for the job and 14 items for environmental characteristics of dental laboratory With the aid of factor analysis for principal components and categorization of items by panel of professionals, items of each measure were grouped into 2-4 subscales. Contribution to internal consistency was the fina) criterion for an item's inclusion in a subscale. Internal consistency reliability of each item was attested through the statistical analysis on the data obtained from 55 structured questionnaires. Reliability of internal consistency of subscales in each measure of job satisfaction and faithfulness for the job ranged from 0.74 to 0.79 and 0.90-0.91 respectively. The result from this research came to draw the following conclusions. 1. Validity and internal consistency reliability of all the items of each measure was attested. 2. The newly developed measure of job satisfaction was found to be appropriate for (measuring the degree of job satisfaction of) dental technicians, as well as for (other) dental office personnels.

        The packed bed void fraction was estimated by moment method for nitrogen pulse-input and output concentration of packed bed of porous particles(MS-3A, MS-5A) and non-porous particles (glass beads). Chromatographic experiment was carried out at room temperature, atmospheric pressure and laminar flow. The packed bed void fractions of MS-3A and MS-5A with average diameter 0.18㎝ were 0.39 and 0.40, respectively. The void fractions of glass beads with average diameter 0.12㎝ and 0.30㎝ were 0.43 and 0.44, respectively. The packed bed void fractions from density measurement of both porous and non-porous particles were in accord with the values from chromatography within 10% error.

      • 원자로 Stud Bolt 의 결함검출을 위한 초음파 신호처리 기법개발

        Bolt failure is a hazard factor for the safety of reactor vessels in nuclear power plants. However, in the practical application of ultrasonic technique for crack detection in stud bolt, the classification of crack signal from the signals reflected from threads in stud bolt is very difficult. In this study, shadow effect technique combined with new signal processing method has been investigated to enhance the detectability of small crack initiated from root of thread in stud bolt. The key idea of new signal processing concept is based on the fact that the shape of waveforms from the threads is uniform since the shape of the threads in a bolt is same. If some cracks exist in the thread, the flaw signals are different from the reference signals. It has shown that the small flaws can be effectively detected by novel ultrasonic technique combined with this new signal processing concept.

        In this paper, as a performance analysis of parallel processing, a static data flow model and a Von Neumann model is used. Simulations are performed and the results are analyzed. The CPI and MIPS are used to analyze the performance of two models at a real time speed. In general, Von Neumann models make well use of locality, but data-flow models have overheads that are due to producing token and no use of locality.

        This paper was development a discharge tube ballast by 4 root method in order to wave improvement of high power factor and high efficiency. The discharge tube ballast consists of a power factor correction circuit and a correction circuit on switching frequency of inverter. Instead of passive power factor circuit, active power factor circuit is adopted. Because it has the advantage of size. weight, total harmonic distortion, out DC voltage regulation, and power factor. The power factor circuit with MG34262 is controlled by variable frequency discontinuous mode. Results experiments, discharge tube ballast by 4 root method showed to have excellent in the discharge tube ballast's operation and characteristics.

        어트랙터 해석을 이용한 AISI 304강 열화 신호의 카오스성 평가

        This study proposes the analysis and evaluation method of time series ultrasonic signal using the chaotic feature extraction for degradation extent. Features extracted from time series data using the chaotic time series signal analyze quantitatively material degradation extent. For this purpose, analysis objective, in this study, is fractal dimension, lyapunov exponent and strange attractor on hyperspace. The lyapunov exponent is a measure of the rate at which nearby trajectories in phase space diverge. Chaotic trajectories have at least one positive lyapunov exponent. The fractal dimension appears as a metric space such as the phase space trajectory of a dynamical system. In experiment, fractal(correlation) dimensions and lyapunov exponents showed values of mean 3.837∼4.211 and 0.054∼0.078 in case of degradation material. The proposed chaotic feature extraction in this study can enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from degradation signals.

        In this paper, the stabilization control problems of antenna pedestal system under the parametric variations and non-linearities such as gravity torque and under external disturbances were described. The proposed controller could stabilize the given antenna system by an indirect adaptive neural network controller. The proposed indirect adaptive neural network controller was consist of an indirect off-line model identifier by neural network and an adaptive on-line neural network controller, based on the reference model and the least square method. The designed controller was applied to an stabilization control of Inmarsat-M antenna pedestal system with the azimuth and the elevation axis. The simulation results were desirable and were superior to the conventional PID controller tuned by Ziegler-Nichols' method.
