      • Species Specific Antiviral Activity of Porcine Interferon-α8 (IFNα8)

        Kim, Eunhye,Jhun, Hyunjhung,Kim, Joohee,Park, Unjoo,Jo, Seunghyun,Kwak, Areum,Kim, Sinae,Nguyen, Tam T.,Kang, Yongsun,Choi, Insoo,Lee, Joongbok,Kim, Heijun,Kim, Younghyun,Lee, Siyoung,Kim, Soohyun 한국조명·전기설비학회 2017 한국조명·전기설비학회 학술대회논문집 Vol. No.

<P>Interferons (IFNs) have been known as antiviral genes and they are classified by type 1, type 2, and type 3 IFN. The type 1 IFN consists of IFNα, IFNβ, IFNτ, and IFNω whereas the type 2 IFN consists of only IFNγ, which is a key cytokine driving T helper cell type 1 immunity. IFNλ belongs to the type 3 IFN, which is also known as IL-28 and IL-29 possessing antiviral activities. Type 1 IFN is produced by viral infection whereas type 2 IFN is induced by mitogenic or antigenic T-cell stimuli. The IFNτ of bovine was first discovered in an ungulate ruminant recognition hormone. IFNτ belongs to the type 1 IFN with the common feature of type 1 IFN such as antiviral activity. IFNs have been mostly studied for basic research and clinical usages therefore there was no effort to investigate IFNs in industrial animals. Here we cloned porcine IFNα8 from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of Korean domestic pig (<I>Sus scrofa domestica</I>). The newly cloned IFNα8 amino acid sequence from Korean domestic pig shares 98.4% identity with the known porcine IFNα8 in databank. The recombinant porcine IFNα8 showed potent antiviral activity and protected bovine Madin-Darby bovine kidney epithelial (MDBK) cells from the cytopathic effect of vesicular stomatitis virus, but it failed to protect human Wistar Institute Susan Hayflick (WISH) cells and canine Madin-Darby canine kidney epithelial-like (MDCK) cells. The present study demonstrates species specific antiviral activity of porcine IFNα8.</P>

      • High-Frequency Scalable Electrical Model and Analysis of a Through Silicon Via (TSV)

        Joohee Kim,Jun So Pak,Jonghyun Cho,Eakhwan Song,Jeonghyeon Cho,Heegon Kim,Taigon Song,Junho Lee,Hyungdong Lee,Kunwoo Park,Seungtaek Yang,Min-Suk Suh,Kwang-Yoo Byun,Joungho Kim IEEE 2011 IEEE transactions on components, packaging, and ma Vol.1 No.2

<P>We propose a high-frequency scalable electrical model of a through silicon via (TSV). The proposed model includes not only the TSV, but also the bump and the redistribution layer (RDL), which are additional components when using TSVs for 3-D integrated circuit (IC) design. The proposed model is developed with analytic <I>RLGC</I> equations derived from the physical configuration. Each analytic equation is proposed as a function of design parameters of the TSV, bump, and RDL, and is therefore, scalable. The scalability of the proposed model is verified by simulation from the 3-D field solver with parameter variations, such as TSV diameter, pitch between TSVs, and TSV height. The proposed model is experimentally validated through measurements up to 20 GHz with fabricated test vehicles of a TSV channel, which includes TSVs, bumps, and RDLs. Based on the proposed scalable model, we analyze the electrical behaviors of a TSV channel with design parameter variations in the frequency domain. According to the frequency-domain analysis, the capacitive effect of a TSV is dominant under 2 GHz. On the other hand, as frequency increases over 2 GHz, the inductive effect from the RDLs becomes significant. The frequency dependent loss of a TSV channel, which is capacitive and resistive, is also analyzed in the time domain by eye-diagram measurements. Due to the frequency dependent loss, the voltage and timing margins decrease as the data rate increases.</P>

      • THE ROLE OF EMOTION IN INFLUENCING EFFECTIVE PRODUCT PLACEMENT

        Joohee Kim,Anne-Maree O'Rourke 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07

The popularity of the Korean entertainment industry has been growing worldwide. Various forms of media, such as movies, TV series, music, radio and many more, have been used as a platform to launch and promote new products of many brands. For instance, Laneige – a Korean cosmetic company was successfully placed in the Korean drama – Descendants of the Sun. Previous studies have accounted for various factors in analysing product placement in movies, such as brand familiarity, brand fit, and movie genre. However, the effect of the emotional context of where the product is placed remains unclear. The purpose of the present research is to investigate whether the effectiveness of product placement is influenced by the emotions depicted in the scene, and whether the ethicality of the product matters.

Effect of Cancer-Related Dysfunctional Beliefs About Sleep on Fear of Cancer Progression in the Coronavirus Pandemic

        Kim Harin,Cho Inn-Kyu,Lee Dongin,Kim Kyumin,Lee Joohee,Cho Eulah,Park C. Hyung Keun,Chung Seockhoon 대한의학회 2022 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.37 No.36

Background: This study aimed to explore clinical correlates of fear of progression (FoP) among patients with cancer during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and examine the mediation effect of cancer-related dysfunctional beliefs about sleep (C-DBS). Methods: Medical charts of patients with cancer who visited a psycho-oncology clinic between July and November 2021 were reviewed. Baseline socio-demographic and cancer-related variables were collected. Patients’ self-report questionnaires, regarding FoP, depression (Patient Health Questionnaire-9 items; PHQ-9), viral anxiety (Stress and Anxiety to Viral Epidemics-6 items; SAVE-6), C-DBS, and other distress, were investigated. Pearson’s correlation and linear regression were performed to examine the risk factors of FoP. Mediation effect analysis with the bootstrap method with 2,000 resamples was implemented. Results: A total of 231 patients were included in the analysis. Linear regression revealed that FoP was predicted by age (β = −0.14, P = 0.003), PHQ-9 (β = 0.48, P < 0.001), SAVE-6 (β = 0.34, P < 0.001), and C-DBS (β = 0.15, P = 0.005). FoP was directly influenced by SAVE-6 and mediated by C-DBS, while it was directly influenced by PHQ-9 with no mediation effect. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the FoP of patients with cancer was associated with younger age, depression, viral anxiety, and C-DBS. Depression and viral anxiety directly influenced FoP, while C-DBS mediated the association between viral anxiety and FoP. Therefore, oncology healthcare professionals are recommended to assess C-DBS of their patients when they are highly distressed from FoP.

Establishing a colorectal cancer liver metastasis patientderived tumor xenograft model for the evaluation of personalized chemotherapy

        Joohee Jung,Jisup Kim,Hyun Kyung Lim,Kyoung Mee Kim,Yun Sun Lee,Joon Seong Park,Dong Sup Yoon 대한외과학회 2017 Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research(ASRT) Vol.93 No.4

Purpose: In order to suggest optimal anticancer drugs for patient-tailored chemotherapy, we developed a colorectal cancer (CRC)-liver metastasis patient-derived tumor xenograft (PDTX) model. Methods: Tissue obtained from a patient with CRC-liver metastasis (F0) was transplanted in a nonobese female mouse with diabetic/severe combined immune deficiency (F1) and the tumor tissue was retransplanted into nude mice (F2). When tumor volumes reached ~500 mm3, the F2 mice were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 4/group) of doxorubicin, cisplatin, docetaxel, and nontreated control groups. The tumor tissues were investigated using H&E staining, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling assays, and immunohistochemistry. To determine where the mutant allele frequencies varied across the different passages, we isolated genomic DNA from the primary tumor, liver metastasis, and PDTX models (F1/F2). Results: The physiological properties of the tumor were in accord with those of the patient’s tumors. Anticancer drugs delayed tumor growth, inhibited proliferation, and caused apoptosis. Histological assessments revealed no observable heterogeneity among the intragenerational PDTX models. Target exon sequencing analysis without high-quality filter conditions revealed some genetic variations in the 83 cancer-related genes across the generations. However, when de novo mutations were defined as a total count of zero in F0 and ≥5 in F2, exactly prognostic impact of clone cancer profiling (EGFR, KRAS, BRAF, PIK3CA, NRAS, APC and TP53) were detected in the paired. Conclusion: A CRC liver metastasis PDTX model was established for the evaluation of chemotherapeutic efficacy. This model retained the physiological characters of the patient tumors and potentially provides a powerful means of assessing chemotherapeutic efficacy.

Low-Cost Fabrication of Transparent Hard Replica Molds for Imprinting Lithography

        Kim, Joohee,Kim, Mihee,Lee, Min Jung,Lee, Ji Soo,Shin, Kyusoon,Kim, Youn Sang WILEY-VCH Verlag 2009 Advanced Materials Vol.21 No.40

<B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>A new and cost-effective replica fabrication method for transparent and hard molds used in imprinting lithography is presented. The process uses a polymer copy as a carrier. Replicated hard molds eliminate the need for direct contact between the master and the patterned polymer on the substrate, and thus reduce contamination of the master. <img src='wiley_img/09359648-2009-21-40-ADMA200803243-content.gif' alt='wiley_img/09359648-2009-21-40-ADMA200803243-content'> </P>

      • High-Frequency Scalable Modeling and Analysis of a Differential Signal Through-Silicon Via

        Joohee Kim,Jonghyun Cho,Joungho Kim,Jong-Min Yook,Jun Chul Kim,Junho Lee,Kunwoo Park,Jun So Pak IEEE 2014 IEEE transactions on components, packaging, and ma Vol.4 No.4

<P>An analytic scalable model of a differential signal through-silicon via (TSV) is proposed. This TSV is a ground-signal-signal-ground (GSSG)-type differential signal TSV. Each proposed analytical equation in the model is a function of the structural and material design parameters of the TSV and the bump, which is scalable. The proposed model is successfully validated with measurements up to 20 GHz for the fabricated test vehicles. Additionally, the scalability of the proposed model is verified with simulations by using Ansoft HFSS to vary the design parameters, such as the TSV diameter, pitch between TSVs, and TSV oxide thickness. On the basis of the proposed scalable model, the electrical behaviors of the GSSG-type differential signal TSV are analyzed with respect to the design variations in the frequency domain. Additionally, the electrical performances of a GSSG-type differential signal TSV are evaluated and compared to that of a ground-signal-ground-type single-ended signal TSV, such as insertion loss, characteristic impedance, voltage/timing margin, and noise immunity.</P>

Factors Affecting Anthropomorphism Towards Artificial Intelligence (AI): An In-depth Review on Previous Studies about Anthropomorphism in Information Systems

        Joohee Kim(김주희),Il Im(임일) 연세대학교 경영연구소 2021 연세경영연구 Vol.58 No.3

Unlike traditional technology, a device with artificial intelligence is characterized by its innovative interaction features and human-like appearances that lead people to anthropomorphize a non-human agent. While many researchers found significant effects of anthropomorphism in enhancing perceived humanness and interaction, the study results surrounding its effects have been inconsistent across studies. Based on 48 previous studies, this paper identifies the dimensions of anthropomorphism and compares the varying effects of anthropomorphism to offer alternative explanations about the inconsistencies as well as future guidance towards the examination of anthropomorphism in artificial intelligence. This paper highlights that anthropomorphism is a multi-dimensional construct that needs an overarching framework and the use of consistent measurements. An in-depth literature review on anthropomorphism in Information System (IS) field found a possible explanation for the contradicting effects of anthropomorphism. By identifying the dimensions of anthropomorphism and offering insights on the contradicting conclusions on the impact of anthropomorphism, this paper contributes as a guideline for future studies on anthropomorphism in Artificial Intelligence.

Foreign Direct Investment and Housing Prices: Evidence from South Korea

        Kim Joohee,이수형 한국국제경제학회 2022 International Economic Journal Vol.36 No.2

This paper examines the extent to which Chinese Foreign Direct Investment affect housing prices in South Korea. To identify the effect, we build an econometric model based on the assumption that the amount of housing investments made by the Chinese correlate with the amount of FDI from China to Korea and the share of Chinese residents in a given location. By analyzing housing transaction data, we find that the Chinese FDI accounts for 15.3% of the increase in housing prices between 2011 and 2016. The positive effect of Chinese FDI is particularly pronounced in Seoul and its surroundings, as well as Daegu.
