Acid mine drainage from underground coal mines and coal refusc piles is one of the most persistant coal industrial pollution problems in our country nowadays. This report includes the main equipment specifications and costs of the plant. Therefore, the data obtained in this investigation will be useful for planning and designing the acid mine drainage treatment plant.

PMMA-based (IM-PMMA and LC-PMMA) lots, HSM-PMMA 10L, soft (silicone and polyHEMA) IOLs were incubated with platelets, granulocytes, mouse macrophage like RAW 264.7 cells and mouse fibrosarcoma L929 cells to examine the compatibility of IOLs with the cells. The number of cells attached to the IOL was counted after photographing the central area (0.04 mm^2) of IOL with an inverted light microscope and then morphology of the cells was examined with SEM. More platelets and granulocytes were attached to IM-PMMA and silicone IOLs than to HSM-PMMA and polyHEMA IOLs (p<0.05). RAW 264.7 and L929 cells grew on PMMA-based and silicone lots, wherease HSM-PMMA and polyHEMA IOLs did not support an optimal growth of these cells. Granulocytes were incubated with IOL in the presence of luminol and the generation of chemiluminescence was measured. PMMA-based IOLs caused granulocytes to release significant amount of oxygen radicals, while polyHEMA IOL was almost inactive in stimulating granulocytes. HSM-PMMA and silicone IOLs showed intermediate level of stimulatory activity. The light intensity reached a peak within 14 min with IM-PMMA IOL, whereas it took about 18 min with the other IOLs. When the rabbit corneal endothelium was touched by IOLs, PMMA-based IOLs produced a severs damage, whereas the soft IOLs and HSM-PMMA IOL produced a mild damage. The endothelial damage index of PMMA-based IOLs was about 2-fold higher than that of HSM- PMMA and soft IOLs. According to the investigation of vulnerability of IOLs to Nd: YAG laser irradiation, the PMMA IOLs revealed the sharp cracks and radiating fractures inside the IOL and large sized damage on the surface of IOL, whereas multiple pitts and small sized damage were formed in case of soft lots. Our results suggest that the hydrophilicity of IOLs prevent attachment of the cells and the softness of IOLs reduces the damage against the Nd: YAG laser photodisruption. Both of these two properties of IOLs also seemed to be responsible for the decreased stimulation of granulocytes and reduced the corneal endothelial damage.
