<P>The conventional Phillips ethylene trimerization catalyst prepared by reacting Cr(EH) 3 (EH = 2-ethylhexanoate), 2,5-dimethylpyrrole (Me2C4H2NH), Et3Al, and Et2AlCl in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent was improved to obtain a congener composed of a new chromium precursor (EH)(2)CrOH, (Me2C4H2N) AlEt2, and Et3Al center dot ClAlEt2. Reaction of CrCl3 with 3 equiv. Na(EH) in water did not generate Cr(EH)(3), but unexpectedly produced (EH) 2CrOH. In comparison with the erratic catalytic performance of the original Phillips system, due to the ill-defined nature of the Cr(EH)(3) source (16 or 6.8 x 10(6) g per mol-Cr h depending on the source), the improved system exhibited consistently high activity (54 x 10(6) g per mol-Cr h). Reaction of (EH)(2)CrOH with (Me2C4H2N) AlMe2 center dot OEt2 afforded the dimeric Cr(II)-complex (6) coordinated by (eta(5)-Me2C4H2N)AlMe2(NC4H2Me2)and mu(2)-kappa(1):eta(2)-Me2C4H2N ligands. 6 provided highly active species when activated with Et3Al center dot ClAlEt2.</P>

In the case of Daegu subway arson in 2003, it was found out that the evacuation system could not play its own role in the dense smoke and blackout during the fire. Due to the dense cloud of smoke and blackout, the people could not easily find the way out. Proper emergency light plan considered cognitive characteristics of evacuees is set up in such places, if so it will be a great help for evacuation. The information obtained through visual sense induces behaviors intuitively. So, effective evacuee guidance is implemented by installing various evacuation guidance devices (emergency lights and luminous egress guide-lines). In connection with this topic, Jeon Gyu-yeob(2011) carried out an on-the-spot experiment focused on changes in visual perceptional evacuation environment and evacuation abilities. And on the basis of the results, he carried out a study on changes in evacuation behaviors through visual perceptional restriction. However, studies on characteristics of visual perception that has an effect on behaviors of evacuees and evacuation behaviors are not sufficient. Therefore this study examined the effect of background luminance of the emergency light induced to recognize the emergency light. Therefore, to produce a device for adjusting the brightness experiment, this study simulated evacuation experiments were performed for 136 people. The value of the result indicated by seek time of emergency light, evacuation time and emergency light cognition distance.

In this study, we evaluated the nitrogen (N) mineralization potential and Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of oil-cake, compost, hairy vetch and barley, which are the most widely used organic amendments in South Korea. The N mineralization potential (No) for organic fertilizers treated soil was highest for the hairy vetch treatment with a value of 18.9 mg N 100 g<SUP>-1</SUP>, followed by oil-cake, barley and compost. The amount of pure N mineralization potentials in hairy vetch, oil-cake, barley and compost treatments were 8.42, 7.62, 3.82 and 3.60 mg N 100 g<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively. The half-life (t1/2) of organic N in soil amended with oil-cake fertilizer mineralized quickly in 17 days. While, t1/2 values of organic N for the compost and barley treatments accounted to 44.4 and 44.1 days, respectively. Oil-cake was good in supplying nutrients to plants. Compost and barley inhibited plant growth in the beginning growth stage and this is attributed to N immobilization effect. The results of this study highlight that compost and barley could be used as potential slow release fertilizers in conventional agriculture.

Background: Given the increased fluconazole resistance (FR) among Candida isolates, we assessed the suitability of disk diffusion susceptibility testing (DDT) for the early detection of FR using well-characterized Candida isolates. Methods: In total, 188 Candida isolates, including 66 C. albicans (seven Erg11 mutants), 69 C. glabrata (33 Pdr1 mutants), 29 C. parapsilosis (15 Erg11 mutants), and 24 C. tropicalis (eight Erg11 mutants) isolates, were tested in this study. FR was assessed using DDT according to the standard CLSI M44-ED3 method, except that two cell suspensions, McFarland 0.5 (standard inoculum) and 2.5 (large inoculum), were used, and the inhibition zones were read at 2-hour intervals from 10 hours to 24 hours. Results: DDT results for the standard inoculum were readable after 14 hours (C. albicans, C. glabrata, and C. tropicalis) and 20 hours (C. parapsilosis) for >95% of the isolates, whereas the results for the large inoculum were readable after 12 hours (C. glabrata and C. tropicalis), 14 hours (C. albicans), and 16 hours (C. parapsilosis) for >95% of the isolates. Compared with the results produced using the CLSI M27-ED4 broth microdilution method, the first readable results from the DDT method for each isolate exhibited an agreement of 97.0%, 98.6%, 72.4%, and 91.7% for the standard inoculum and 100%, 98.6%, 96.6%, and 95.8% for the large inoculum for C. albicans, C. glabrata, C. parapsilosis, and C. tropicalis, respectively. Conclusions: DDT using large inoculum may detect FR rapidly and reliably in the four most common Candida species.

반려동물 수가 증가함에 따라 유기·유실되는 반려동물의 수가 증가하고 이로 인해 유기·유실 동물 처리비용 또한 증가하고 있다. 2014년부터 동물 유기·유실 예방 및 공중보건향상을 목적으로 동물등록제를 전국 확대 시행하고 있지만 여전히 등록률 30%대로 낮은 편이다. 현재 반려동물 등록방법으로는 외장형 무선식별장치 부착, 등록인식표 부착, 내장형 무선 식별장치 개체 삽입 등 총 3가지가 있다. 외장형 무선식별장치와 등록 인식표의 경우 반려견에 착용시키지 않거나 분실되는 경우가 많아 실효성이 떨어지고, 내장형 무선식별장치 개체 삽입의 경우는 부작용이나 동물학대 논란 등으로 반려견 소유자들의 거부감이 크다는 문제가 있다. 최근에는 홍채인식, 비문인식 등 다양한 생체인식 방법에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있지만, 반려견은 사람과 달리 비협조적이기 때문에 생체정보 획득이 어려워 아직까지 현장에 적용 가능한 수준까지 도달하지 못했다. 본 연구에서는 소리와 냄새를 통해 반려견의 관심을 유도하여 반려견이 생체정보 수집장치를 바라보게 하여 비협조적인 반려견의 생체정보를 보다 쉽게 획득할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고, 장치를 개발하여 효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 포메라니안(암, 수), 시츄(암, 수), 요코셔테리아(암, 수)를 대상으로 실험한 결과, 소리와 냄새 모두 반려견의 관심을 유도하는데 도움이 되었지만, 냄새보다는 소리가 효과가 좋았고 소리 중에서는 장난감(삑삑이)의 효과가 가장 좋은 것으로 나타났다.

건물화재 시 발생한 연기는 천장에서부터 내려오는 특성을 가진다. 이러한 특성으로 인해 화재상황에 따라 연기가 존재하는 공간을 지나는 사람들의 보행 가능 높이는 낮아지게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 보행 가능 높이에 따라사람들의 보행속력을 분석하기 위해 보행실험을 수행하였다. 실험은 남녀 총 23명의 참가자가 참여하였다. 실험에대한 분석결과, 전체적으로 보행 가능 높이가 낮아질수록 실험참가자들의 평균 보행속도는 낮아졌다. 하지만 보행가능 높이가 1.2 m일 때의 보행속도만이 자유보행속도와 비교하여 유의미한 차이를 나타냈다. 또한, 실험참가자들의BMI 지수 등급(저체중, 정상, 과체중, 비만)에 따라 분석한 결과 각 BMI 지수 등급 사이에는 유의미한 차이를 나타내지 못했다. 하지만 정상 등급은 경우 보행 가능 높이가 1.2 m에서의 보행속도가 정상 등급의 자유보행속도와 비교하여 유의미하게 저하되었고, 과체중 등급의 경우 1.8 m, 1.7 m에서의 보행속도가 과체중 등급의 자유보행속도와 비교하여 유의미하게 증가하였다. During fire outbreaks, smoke accumulates from the ceiling and reduces the available walking height of people passingthrough. In this study, a walking experiment was conducted to investigate the relationship between the walking speed ofpeople and available walking height. Twenty-three participants were enrolled. Based on the results, the lower the availablewalking height, the lower the average walking speed of the participants. However, a significant difference was noted onlyin the walking speed when the available walking height was 1.2 m compared to the free walking speed. In addition, therewas no significant difference among participants in terms of their BMI index grade. However, in the case of participantswith normal BMI, the walking speed at a 1.2 m available walking height was significantly lower than when walking freely. Further, in the case of overweight participants, the walking speed at 1.8 m and 1.7 m available walking height wassignificantly increased compared to that when walking freely.
