A Differentiated Approach towards Translation for Children : With a Focus on Explicitation in Children's Literature Translation

Les enfants, qui sont les prmctpaux lecteurs de Ia litterature pour Ia jeunesse, sont immatures sur le plan cognitive et emotionnel par rapport aux adultes. Cette particularite oblige une prise en compte de nombreux facteurs lors de Ia traduction litteraire pour les enfants. Les traducteurs n' ayant pas de connaissance appropriee des caracteristiques de Ia litterature enfantine risquent d'echouer a creer des textes appropries pour les jeunes lecteurs. Puisque les enfants apprennent et perfectionnent Ia langue matemelle grace a Ia lecture des livres pour Ia jeunesse, Ia qualite de traduction de Ia litterature pour Ia jeunesse est d'une question d'importance cruciale. L'objectif de cette etude est d'identifier Ia tendance generale de Ia publication des traductions litteraires pour les enfants en Coree. Apres avoir insiste sur Ia necessite des etudes sur Ia traduction litteraire pour Ia jeunesse, cette etude vise a detinir Ia notion de Ia fidelite comme fidelite envers les lecteurs et a analyser les strategies de traduction sur le plan macroscopique et microscopique. Quelques ret1exions sur l'explicitation seront egalement proposees, afin d'harmoniser )'emotion Iitteraire et Ia stimulation culturelle lors de Ia traduction des termes culturels.

LTI Korea’s Major Achievements and Challenges : Commemorating its 20th Anniversary

The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) was established in 2001 with the aim of globalizing Korean literature. As the efforts undertaken by the institute over the last two decades have begun to come to the fore, the awareness of and demand for Korean literature have been increasing in the global publishing market. Moreover, Korean writers have won prestigious literary awards worldwide, while modern, contemporary, and classical works of Korean literature have been published in many languages. Based on a thorough analysis of the LTI Korea Annual Reports between 2001 and 2019, this paper examines LTI Korea’s four major achievements: Translation Grant Program, Publication Grants for Foreign Publishers, Fostering Professional Translators of Korean Literature, and Information Management of Korean Literature. This article discusses the programs that LTI Korea has planned, operated, and improved in each area to select excellent Korean literary works, produce quality translations, and introduce them across the world. It also explores the challenges facing LTI Korea today and proposes future direction for the institute.

윌리엄스 신드롬 환자의 치과치료를 위한 고려사항

Williams syndrome is a rare congenital disorder with various physical abnormalities and characterized by facial, oral, and dental features. Individuals with Williams syndrome typically have eating disorders in the early childhood, which lead to prolonged night feeding. Prolonged night feeding is a risk factor for rampant dental caries. Williams syndrome is caused by the microdeletion of chromosome 7, resulting in elastin deficiency. Elastin is integral to cardiovascular health. Many patients with Williams syndrome have complex cardiovascular abnormalities that must be considered a part of dental management. Complications related to cardiovascular diseases may induce adverse effects such as dangerously elevated blood pressure. This may occur in patients during stressful dental treatment. In addition, characteristics of auditory hyperalgesia and anxiety disorders among patients with William syndrome, complicate receiving routine dental management. Therefore, dental treatment under sedation or general anesthesia may be preferable for patients with Williams syndrome; in particular, patients who are very uncooperative and/or needs extensive dental treatment. A thorough evaluation of each patient’s physical condition is required before making decisions regarding dental treatment. Careful monitoring and preparation for emergencies are very important during and shortly after dental treatment under general anesthesia or sedation. Monitoring is critical until vital signs have stabilized and return to normal. A 28-month-old man diagnosed as having Williams syndrome, visited the Dental Hospital of OO University for the management of rampant dental caries. We reported on the management of this patient who had peripheral pulmonic stenosis, and received dental treatment under general anesthesia. We also reviewed the characteristics of Williams syndrome and discussed considerations for dental treatment under general anesthesia.

학습자 중심의 번역 이론 교육

본 연구는 통번역 교육에서 이론적 요소가 통번역 능력 함양에 미치는 긍정적인 영향에 대해 확인하고 학습자 중심 교수법의 효과를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 통번역대학원 3학기에 재학 중인 학생 9명을 대상으로, 학생들의 니즈를 조사하여 각 개인의 관심 주제를 중심으로 수업 내용을 확정하였다. 학생들은 관련 논문을 찾아 발표와 토론을 주도하였고 교수자는 조언을 제공하는 역할을 담당하였다. 학생들에게는 본 수업에서 습득한 이론적 지식을 실제 통번역 연습에 적용할 수 있는 과제가 주어졌다. 이러한 학습자 중심의 이론 수업을 통해서 학생들은 실무에 도움이 되는 이론의 효용을 체험할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 강의계획안의 설계, 수업 자료의 준비, 수업 중의 활동 및 과제 등 수업 진행 방식을 단계별로 제시하여 향후 통번역 교수자들이 수업에서 이론을 지도하고자 할 때 참고할 수 있다는데 그 의의가 있다. The purpose of this study is to check the positive effects of theoretical elements on the development of translation and interpretation competence in classroom, and to examine the effect of learner-centered teaching methods. To this end, nine students enrolled in the 3rd semester of the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation were surveyed to investigate the specific needs of the students, and the topics of each class were decided based on the subject of each individual’s interest. Students led presentations and discussions by finding related papers, task was given to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired by the students in this class to the actual translation practice. Through these learner-oriented theory classes, students were able to experience the utility of theories that were helpful in practice. This study is meaningful in that it presents the design of the lesson plan, preparation of teaching resources, in-class activities and assignments, so that interpretation and translation instructors can refer to it when they want to teach theories in class.

불면증 디지털 치료제를 위한 중증도에 따른 사용자 니즈 탐구

불면 장애 환자는 나날이 증가하고 있고 그에 따라 치료법에 대한 관심도 증가하고 있다. 이에 많은 디지털인지행동치료제 앱이 개발 진행되고 있으나 환자 중심 치료 접근법에 의한 사용자 이해에 대한 연구가 부족한 상황이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 질적 연구방법론인 반구조화 심층 인터뷰를 진행하여 기존의 치료 방법 및 한계점, 향후 디지털 치료제에 대한 니즈(Needs)를 조사하여 불면증의 중증도 분류에 따라 분석하고 보다 나은 인터페이스 경험을 제공하는 방안을 고찰하고자 한다. 해당 인터뷰 결과 불면증을 겪고 있는 경증 환자는 일시적으로 재미 위주의 앱을 일시적으로 사용하다 중단하였고, 그에 따라 무료 앱을 선호하였으며, 중증 환자는 수면 정보 및 생활 습관 개선, 명상, 백색 소음(ASMR) 까지 다양한 수면 위생 교육 및 일상 생활 습관까지 관리하는 디지털 인지행동치료 앱에 높은 관심을 보였다. 또한, 고증 환자는 우울증과 불안 같은 만성정신질환을 동반하는 경우가 많아 약물적 치료를 병행하고 있어 약물 치료에 대한 중독 증상을 관리해주는 앱에 대한 니즈 및 부정적인 감정을 조절해주는 앱이 필요하다고 하였다. 향후 불면증 디지털 치료에 실효성이 있도록 적합한 인터페이스를 갖추도록 기대해 볼 때 본 연구에서의 결과물은 실용적 측면에서 디자인 설계 요소로 참고해 볼 수 있다.

차량 내 운전자의 음성인터페이스 사용 경험 탐구

음성 인식 기술의 지속적인 발전에도 불구하고 운전자들의 차량 내 음성인터페이스 사용률은 낮은 편이다. 이러한 원인을 파악 하기 위해 본 연구에서는 실제 도로 주행 환경에서 운전자들의 자연스러운 음성인터페이스 사용 행태를 관찰한 후 차량 내 주요 기능에 대한 과업 수행 미션을 제공하여 관찰하는 Context Inquiry 연구 방법을 진행하였다. 연구 목적은 운전자의 음성인터페이스의 이용 행태 관찰을 통하여 낮은 사용률의 원인과 운전자들의 니즈를 파악하여 보다 나은 음성인터페이스 경험을 위한 UX 설계에 도움을 주고자 한다. 데이터 분석 방법은 질적연구방법의 근거 이론으로 사용자의 인터뷰 및 영상 발화에서 개념과 범주를 카테고리화하여 인사이트를 제시 하였다. 향후 주행 환경에 적합한 음성인터페이스는 많은 발전의 가능성과 기대감으로 본 연구에서의 결과물은 실용적 측면에서 음성인터페이스 디자인 설계 요소로 활용 가능하다.
