This study was conducted to investigated the major characteristics of genetically modified rice of "Milyang 204" originated from Dongjinbyeo compared to a non-transgenic rice varieties Dongjinbyeo and Junambyeo. Basta resistant transgenic rice lines carrying bar gene produced by the Yeongnam Agricultural Research Institute were evaluated for their agronomic characters. The transgenic Japonica rice of "Milyang 204" showed inferior phenotypic traits compared to a non-transgenic rice variety Dongjinbyeo and Junambyeo. On the basis of UPOV (Union Internationale Pour la Protaection des Obtentions Vegetables) and NSMO(National Seed Management Office) the transgenic "Milyang 204" showed difference in some traits out of some agronomic traits, such as leaf color, angle of flag leaf, number of spikelets, culm length, white core and white belly compared to the nontransgenic varieties rice.
내장형 펌핑 커패시터를 사용한 TFT-LCD 구동 IC용 전하펌프 설계

본 논문에서는 TFT-LCD 구동 IC 모듈의 소형화 측면에서 유리한 DC-DC 변환기 회로인 펌핑 커패시터 내장형 크로스-커플드 전하펌프(Cross-Coupled Charge Pump with Internal Pumping Capacitor) 회로가 새롭게 제안되었다. VGH 및 VGL 전하펌프 각각의 입력단과 전하 펌핑 노드를 연결하는 NMOS 및 PMOS 다이오드를 두어, 초기 동작 시 전하 펌핑 노드를 서로 같은 값으로 프리차지하여 대칭 적으로 전하 펌핑을 하도록 하였다. 그리고 첫 번째 전하 펌프의 구조를 다르게 설계하여 펌핑된 전하가 입력단으로 역류되는 현상을 방지하였다. 또한, 펌핑 클럭 구동 드라이버의 위치를 펌핑 커패시터 바로 앞에 두어 기생 저항으로 인한 펌핑 클럭 라인의 전압강하를 방지하여 구동능력을 향상 시켰다. 마지막으로 내장형 펌핑 커패시터를 Stack-MIM 커패시터를 사용하여 기존의 크로스-커플드 전하펌프 보다 레이아웃 면적을 최소화하였다. 제안된 TFT-LCD 구동 IC 용 전하펌프 회로를 $0.13{\mu}m$ Triple-Well DDI 공정을 사용하여 설계하고, 테스트 칩을 제작하여 검증하였다. A cross-coupled charge pump with internal pumping capacitor, witch is advantages from a point of minimizing TFT-LCD driver IC module, is newly proposed in this paper. By using a NMOS and a PMOS diode connected to boosting node from VIN node, the pumping node is precharged to the same value each pumping node at start pumping operation. Since the lust-stage charge pump is designed differently from the other stage pumps, a back current of pumped charge from charge pumping node to input stage is prevented. As a pumping clock driver is located the font side of pumping capacitor, the driving capacity is improved by reducing a voltage drop of the pumping clock line from parasitic resistor. Finally, a layout area is decreased more compared with conventional cross-coupled charge pump by using a stack-MIM capacitors. A proposed charge pump for TFT-LCD driver IC is designed with $0.13{\mu}m$ triple-well DDI process, fabricated, and tested.

Background: The biological actions of various ginseng extracts have been studied for treating obesity and diabetes mellitus. However, few studies have evaluated the effects of fermented Korean Red Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) on metabolic syndrome. The present study evaluated the antiobesity and antidiabetic effects of fermented red ginseng (FRG) on old-aged, obese, leptin-deficient (B6.V-Lepob, "ob/ob") mice. Methods: The animals were divided into three groups and given water containing 0%, 0.5%, and 1.0% FRG for 16 wk. The effect of FRG on ob/ob mice was determined by measuring changes in body weight, levels of blood glucose, serum contents of triglycerides, total cholesterol and free fatty acids, messenger RNA (mRNA) expressions of key factors associated with insulin action, such as insulin receptor (IR), lipoprotein lipase (LPL), glucose transporter 1 and 4 (GLUT1 and GLUT4), peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma ($PPAR-{\gamma}$), and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) in the liver and in muscle, and histology of the liver and pancreas. Results: FRG-treated mice had decreased body weight and blood glucose levels compared with control ob/ob mice. However, anti-obesity effect of FRG was not evident rather than hypoglycemic effect in old aged ob/ob mice. The hyperlipidemia in control group was attenuated in FRG-treated ob/ob mice. The mRNA expressions of IR, LPL, GLUT1, GLUT4, $PPAR-{\gamma}$, and PEPCK in the liver and in muscle were increased in the FRG-treated groups compared with the control group. Conclusion: These results suggest that FRG may play a vital role in improving insulin sensitivity relative to reducing body weight in old-aged ob/ob mice.
Effect of Ripening Conditions on the Quality and Storability of Muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.) Fruits

This study was conducted to identify the effect of ripening conditions on quality of ‘Honey One’ and ‘Earl`s Talent’ muskmelon cultivars stored at 10°C with 80 ± 5% relative humidity (RH) and room temperature (RT; 25°C) with 50 ± 5% RH. Weight loss and respiration rate of both cultivars were lower at 10°C than at RT throughout the ripening period. In the case of ethylene and ethanol production, ‘Honey One’ showed higher production than ‘Earl`s Talent’. There was no significant difference in acetaldehyde production between the two cultivars. ‘Honey One’ had higher total soluble solids (TSS) than ‘Earl`s Talent’ throughout the ripening period. ‘Earl`s Talent’ showed lower sucrose but higher glucose and fructose contents than ‘Honey One’. Titratable acidity (TA) and firmness decreased in both cultivars during the ripening period. ‘Earl`s Talent’ maintained firmness longer than ‘Honey One’. The polygalacturonase (PG) activity of ‘Honey One’ decreased starting from the 6th day of ripening, reaching 12.58 nmol·kg<SUP>-1</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> on day 9 and maintaining that level afterwards while at RT. By contrast, ‘Earl`s Talent’ maintained PG activity up to day 21. Both water soluble pectin (WSP) and ammonium soluble pectin (ASP) increased but hydrochloric acid soluble pectin (HSP) and sodium hydroxide soluble pectin (SSP) decreased as the ripening period proceeded. The Hunter`s L* value of the two cultivars showed a decreasing trend in the flesh regardless of the ripening temperature. The sensory evaluation scores for both cultivars were highest on day 15th at 10°C and on day 9th at RT. Overall, our results revealed that the best nutritional benefits of muskmelon were achieved on the 15th day of ripening at 10°C and on the 9th day of ripening at RT irrespective of cultivars.
소화기암에서 조직내 Carcinoembryonic Antigen 측정치와 DNA 배수성과의 관계에 대한 연구

Background : This study was performed to obtain additional information about intratumor heterogeneity and prognosis of gastrointestinal cancers, as defined by different DNA stemlines in relation to tumor CEA expression na clinicopathologic characteristics. Methods : In 26 patients with stomach cancer and 14 patients with colorectal cancer, carcinoembryonic antigen concentrations in tissue extracts were measured by radioimmunoassay and the DNA ploidy patterns of same specimens were determined by flow cytometry. Result : 1) Mean tissuc CEA concentrations in the normal gastric mucosa of the patients with stomach cancers was 10.2ng/gm. Tissue CEA concentrations (mean 42.1ng/gm) of stomach cancers were 4 times higher than the normal mucosa (p<0.05), significantly correlated to TNM stages. 2) Tissue CEA concentrations (mean 27.3ng/gm) in the normal colonic mucosa of the patients with colorectal cancers were higher levels than normal gastric mucosa (p<0.05). Tissue CEA concentrations (mean 164.0ng/gm) of colorectal cancers were 6 times higher than the colorectal mucosa` and 4 times higher than stomach cancer`s (p<0.05). 3) The incidence of aneuploid pattern in the stomach cancer was 44.0%, and 25.0% in the colorectal cancers. The incidence of aneuploid cancer was not significantly related to clinicopathologic findings. 4) Tissue CEA concentrations of aneuploid stomach cancers (mean 86.4ng/gm) were 6 times higher than diploid cancers (mean 14.5ng/gm) (p<0.05). Aneuploid colorectal cancers (mean 244.8ng/gm) had higher CEA levels than diploid cancers (mean 161.7ng/gm) (p<0.05). Conclusion : The production of carcinoembryonic antigen in gastrointestinal cancers was significantly correlated with aneuploid DNA stemlines. To estimate prognostic values of tissue CEA concentrations and DNA ploidity, follw up for these patients and further studies should be pursued.
장기 파랑관측자료 분석 및 천해파 수치실험에 의한 강릉 해역의 천해설계파

본 연구에서는 강릉 해수욕장 전면에서 20년간 관측된 파랑자료의 극치분석을 통하여 재현빈도 10, 20, 30 및 50년의 천해설계파를 도출하였다. 이들을 수산청(1988) 및 한국해양연구원(2005)에 제시된 강릉 해역에 대한 재현빈도별 심해파 조건을 경계조건으로 천해파 모델인 SWAN을 사용하여 관측지점에서의 파고를 구한 값과 비교하였다. 그 결과 이러한 기존의 심해파 조건들로 계산한 강릉 해역의 천해파고는 관측치에 비해 상당히 작게 제시되었으며 그 차이는 재현빈도의 증가에 따라 커지는 것을 확인하였다. 한국해양연구원은 이전보다 상세한 격자와 WAM 모델을 사용하여 2004년 1월부터 2008년 8월까지의 역추산 자료를 생성하였으며, 이를 천해역의 관측 자료와 비교한 결과 1979~2003년의 자료에 비해 동계 폭풍파의 재현성이 크게 향상되었음을 확인하였다. 앞으로 2004년 이전에 대해서도 상세 격자와 WAM 모델을 사용한 역추산 자료의 생성 및 이를 사용한 심해파의 보완 작업이 필요한 것으로 사료된다. In this study, shallow-water design waves are calculated for the return period of 10, 20, 30, and 50 years, based on the extreme value analysis of the wave measurement data at Gangneung beach. These values are compared with the results of SWAN simulation with the boundary condition of the deep-water design waves of the corresponding return periods at the Gangneung sea area provided by the Fisheries Agency (FA, 1988) and Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute (KORDI, 2005). It is found that the shallow-water wave heights at Gangneung beach calculated by the deep-water design waves were significantly less than the observation data. As the return period becomes higher, the significant wave heights obtained by the extreme value analysis becomes higher than those computed by SWAN with the deep-water design waves of the corresponding return periods. KORDI computed the hindcast wave data from January 2004 to August 2008 by WAM with a finer-grid mesh system than those of previous studies. Comparisons of the wave hindcast results with the wave observation show that the reproducibility of the winter-season storm wave was considerably improved compared to the hindcast data from 1979 to 2003. Hereafter, it is necessary to carry out hindcast wave data for the years before 2004 using WAM with the finer-grid mesh system and to supplement the deep-water design wave.
