        Vegetable consumption is associated with health benefits. Recently, the interest in these food groups has grown among due to the identification of new compound in their chemical composition. Most of the vegetables are cooked by blanching, boiling, steaming, microwaving before consumed. These cooking processes may change not only food physical characteristics but also chemical composition. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of different cooking methods on phytochemical content and antioxidant capacity in Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem. The result of study, Total polyphenol of phytochemical in Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem was 6.88-12.65 mg GAE/100 g and flavonoid was 3.16-10.46 mg CE/100 g. Compared with the raw of Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem, all cooking methods were found to significant correlations between the antioxidant activity assessed by ABTS, DPPH and polyphenol(p<0.05). These results can be provide the basic data how to prevent lose of nutrition in Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam stem when cooking.

        SOCS3 Attenuates Dexamethasone-Induced M2 Polarization by Down-Regulation of GILZ via ROS- and p38 MAPK-Dependent Pathways

        Suppressors of cytokine signaling (SOCS) have emerged as potential regulators of macrophage function. We have investigated mechanisms of SOCS3 action on type 2 macrophage (M2) differentiation induced by glucocorticoid using human monocytic cell lines and mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages. Treatment of THP1 monocytic cells with dexamethasone (Dex) induced ROS generation and M2 polarization promoting IL-10 and TGF-β production, while suppressing IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-6 production. SOCS3 over-expression reduced, whereas SOCS3 ablation enhanced IL-10 and TGF-β induction with concomitant regulation of ROS. As a mediator of M2 differentiation, glucocorticoid-induced leucine zipper (GILZ) was down-regulated by SOCS3 and up-regulated by shSOCS3. The induction of GILZ and IL-10 by Dex was dependent on ROS and p38 MAPK activity. Importantly, GILZ ablation led to the inhibition of ROS generation and anti-inflammatory cytokine induction by Dex. Moreover, GILZ knock-down negated the up-regulation of IL-10 production induced by shSOCS3 transduction. Our data suggest that SOCS3 targets ROS- and p38-dependent GILZ expression to suppress Dex-induced M2 polarization.

        Transcriptional coactivator with PDZ ‐binding motif is required to sustain testicular function on aging

        <P><B>Summary</B></P><P>Transcriptional coactivator with PDZ‐binding motif (TAZ) directly interacts with transcription factors and regulates their transcriptional activity. Extensive functional studies have shown that TAZ plays critical regulatory roles in stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival and also modulates the development of organs such as the lung, kidney, heart, and bone. Despite the importance of TAZ in stem cell maintenance, TAZ function has not yet been evaluated in spermatogenic stem cells of the male reproductive system. Here, we investigated the expression and functions of TAZ in mouse testis. TAZ was expressed in spermatogenic stem cells; however, its deficiency caused significant structural abnormalities, including atrophied tubules, widened interstitial space, and abnormal Leydig cell expansion, thereby resulting in lowered sperm counts and impaired fertility. Furthermore, TAZ deficiency increased the level of apoptosis and senescence in spermatogenic cells and Leydig cells upon aging. The expression of senescence‐associated β‐galactosidase (SA‐βgal), secretory phenotypes, and cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitors (p16, p19, and p21) significantly increased in the absence of TAZ. TAZ downregulation in testicular cells further increased SA‐βgal and p21 expression induced by oxidative stress, whereas TAZ overexpression decreased p21 induction and prevented senescence. Mechanistic studies showed that TAZ suppressed DNA‐binding activity of p53 through a direct interaction and thus attenuated p53‐induced p21 gene transcription. Our results suggested that TAZ may suppress apoptosis and premature senescence in spermatogenic cells by inhibiting the p53‐p21 signaling pathway, thus playing important roles in the maintenance and control of reproductive function.</P>

      • TAZ as a novel enhancer of MyoD‐mediated myogenic differentiation

        <P>Myoblast differentiation is indispensable for skeletal muscle formation and is governed by the precisely coordinated regulation of a series of transcription factors, including MyoD and myogenin, and transcriptional coregulators. TAZ (transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif) has been characterized as a modulator of mesenchymal stem cell differentiation into osteoblasts and adipocytes through its regulation of lineage-specific master transcription factors. In this study, we investigated whether TAZ affects myoblast differentiation, which is one of the differentiated lineages of mesenchymal stem cells. Ectopic overexpression of TAZ in myoblasts increases myogenic gene expression in a MyoD-dependent manner and hastens myofiber formation, whereas TAZ knockdown delays myogenic differentiation. In addition, enforced coexpression of TAZ and MyoD in fibroblasts accelerates MyoD-induced myogenic differentiation. TAZ physically interacts with MyoD through the WW domain and activates MyoD-dependent gene transcription. TAZ additionally enhances the interaction of MyoD with the myogenin gene promoter. These results strongly suggest that TAZ functions as a novel transcriptional modulator of myogenic differentiation by promoting MyoD-mediated myogenic gene expression.</P>

      • Cdon deficiency causes cardiac remodeling through hyperactivation of WNT/β-catenin signaling

        <P>On pathological stress, Wnt signaling is reactivated and induces genes associated with cardiac remodeling and fibrosis. We have previously shown that a cell surface receptor Cdon (cell-adhesion associated, oncogene regulated) suppresses Wnt signaling to promote neuronal differentiation however its role in heart is unknown. Here, we demonstrate a critical role of Cdon in cardiac function and remodeling. Cdon is expressed and predominantly localized at intercalated disk in both mouse and human hearts. Cdon-deficient mice develop cardiac dysfunction including reduced ejection fraction and ECG abnormalities. Cdon(-/-) hearts exhibit increased fibrosis and up-regulation of genes associated with cardiac remodeling and fibrosis. Electrical remodeling was demonstrated by up-regulation and mislocalization of the gap junction protein, Connexin 43 (Cx43) in Cdon(-/-) hearts. In agreement with altered Cx43 expression, functional analysis both using Cdon(-/-) cardiomyocytes and shRNA-mediated knockdown in rat cardiomyocytes shows aberrant gap junction activities. Analysis of the underlying mechanism reveals that Cdon(-/-) hearts exhibit hyperactive Wnt signaling as evident by beta-catenin accumulation and Axin2 up-regulation. On the other hand, the treatment of rat cardiomyocytes with a Wnt activator TWS119 reduces Cdon levels and aberrant Cx43 activities, similarly to Cdon-deficient cardiomyocytes, suggesting a negative feedback between Cdon and Wnt signaling. Finally, inhibition of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling by XAV939, IWP2 or dickkopf (DKK)1 prevented Cdon depletion-induced up-regulation of collagen 1a and Cx43. Taken together, these results demonstrate that Cdon deficiency causes hyperactive Wnt signaling leading to aberrant intercellular coupling and cardiac fibrosis. Cdon exhibits great potential as a target for the treatment of cardiac fibrosis and cardiomyopathy.</P>

        FEROM: Feature Extraction and Refinement for Opinion Mining

        Opinion mining involves the analysis of customer opinions using product reviews and provides meaningful information including the polarity of the opinions. In opinion mining, feature extraction is important since the customers do not normally express their product opinions holistically but separately according to its individual features. However, previous research on feature-based opinion mining has not had good results due to drawbacks, such as selecting a feature considering only syntactical grammar information or treating features with similar meanings as different. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an enhanced feature extraction and refinement method called FEROM that effectively extracts correct features from review data by exploiting both grammatical properties and semantic characteristics of feature words and refines the features by recognizing and merging similar ones. A series of experiments performed on actual online review data demonstrated that FEROM is highly effective at extracting and refining features for analyzing customer review data and eventually contributes to accurate and functional opinion mining.

      • 추구-회피동기 수준에 따른 여가만족, 레크리에이션 전문화, 행복의 관계: 야구동호인을 대상으로

        목적: 이 연구의 목적은 추구-회피동기 이론을 적용하여 야구동호인의 추구-회피동기 수준에 따른 여가만족과 레크리에이션 전문화, 행복에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 검증하고, 추구-회피동기 집단별 여가만족이 레크리에이션 전문화에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 규명하는 것이다. 과정: 이를 위해 서울, 경기지역에서 활동하는 야구 참여자를 모집단으로 설정하고, 목적표집법을 이용하여 표본을 추출하였으며, 400명의 야구동호인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 응답이 누락되거나 일괄된 번호로 응답하거나 신뢰성이 낮다고 판단되는 자료를 제외한 총 380부의 설문지를 SPSS 27.0 프로그램과 AMOS 24.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 야구동호인의 추구-회피동기의 수준에 따른 집단 분류를 위해 추구-회피동기를 구성하는 다양한 하위요인 모델 중 개인적 추구, 대인적 추구, 개인적 회피, 대인적 회피동기로 구성된 하위요인 모델을 선정하고 ①형 추구-히피 동기로 명명하였다. 다음으로 추구동기, 회피동기, 개인적 동기, 대인적 동기로 구성된 모델을 선정하고 ②형 추구-회피동기로 명명하였다. ①형과 ②형으로 유형화된 각각의 추구-회피동기를 최종분석에 활용하였다. 결과: 첫째, ①형과 ②형으로 분류된 유형별 추구-회피동기 수준에 따른 여가만족의 차이 검증결과 추구-회피동기 수준에 따라 여가만족에 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 야구동호인에게 있어 추구-회피동기를 구성하는 요인들이 모두 높을 때 여가만족이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, ①형과 ②형 유형별 추구-회피동기 수준에 따른 레크리에이션 전문화의 차이 검증결과 추구-회피동기 수준에 따라 레크리에이션 전문화에 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 특히 추구-회피동기의 모든 하위요인이 높을 때 레크리에이션 전문화 수준이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, ①형과 ②형 유형별 추구-회피동기 수준에 따른 행복의 차이를 검증한 결과 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 ①형과 ②형 추구-회피동기 수준에 의해 분류된 4개 집단별 여가 만족이 레크리에이션 전문화에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 여가만족은 레크리에이션 전문화에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 추구-회피동기 수준에 따라 분류된 모든 집단에서 여가만족이 높을수록 레크리에이션 전문화가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 결과적으로 야구동호인의 여가만족, 레크리에이션 전문화에 있어 추구동기, 회피동기, 개인적·대인적 차원의 모든 하위요인이 중요한 요인으로 나타났으며, 여가만족과 레크리에이션 전문화 같은 여가경험을 지속시키기 위해서는 모든 차원의 추구-회피동기를 고려하여 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 여가환경을 조성하는 것이 중요하다. Purpose: verify the difference between leisure satisfaction, recreation specialization, and happiness according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation theory about baseball club members, and to verify the relationship between leisure satisfaction and recreation specialization. Method: A survey was conducted on baseball club members who participated in the baseball league, and a total of 380 people responded to the survey using the purposive sampling method. The data analyses were carried out using the SPSS 27.0 and AMOS 27.0 programs. Among the various sub-factor models constituting the seeking and escaping motivation, four sub-factor models consisting of personal seeking, interpersonal seeking, personal escaping, and interpersonal escaping motivation were selected and named type 1 seeking and escaping motivation. Next, a model consisting of four sub-factors: seeking motivation, escaping motivation, personal motivation, and interpersonal motivation was selected and named type 2 seeking and escaping motivation. Each seeking and escaping motivation categorized into type 1 and type 2 was used for analysis to verify the difference between leisure satisfaction, recreational specialization, and happiness. Result: As a result of the study, First, as a result of verifying the difference in leisure satisfaction according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation by type 1 and type 2, there was a significant difference in leisure satisfaction according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation. Second, as a result of verifying the difference in recreational specialization according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation by type 1 and type 2, there was a significant difference in recreational specialization according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation. Especially, when the level of seeking and escaping motivation for all sub-factor was high, the level of recreation specialization was found to be the highest. Third, as a result of verifying the difference in happiness according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation according to the level of seeking and escaping motivation by type 1 and type 2, no significant difference was found. As a results, the seeking and escaping motivation that explains the reason for participating in baseball proved to be a factor that can increase leisure satisfaction and recreational specialization. Next, a simple regression analysis was conducted to analyze the relationship between leisure satisfaction and recreational specialization of the four groups classified by type 1 and type 2 seeking and escaping motivation level. As a result of the implementation, it was found that the leisure satisfaction of the four groups of type 1 and type 2 classified by the level of seeking and escaping motivation had a significant effect on recreational specialization. Especially, it was found that the higher the leisure satisfaction of baseball club members, the higher the recreation specialization. Conclusion: As a result, all sub-factors of seeking-escaping (seeking motivation, escaping motivation, and personal and interpersonal motivation) levels appeared to be important factors in leisure satisfaction and recreation specialization of baseball club members. Therefore It is important to create a leisure environment that can satisfy needs by considering seeking-escaping motivation of baseball club members.
