      • Metal–organic macrocycles, metal–organic polyhedra and metal–organic frameworks

Prakash, M. Jaya,Lah, Myoung Soo Royal Society of Chemistry 2009 Chemical communications Vol.2009 No.23

<P>Metal–organic macrocycles (MOMs), metal–organic polyhedra (MOPs) and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are metal–organic systems (MOSs) developed from appropriately designed ligands and selected metal ions. Metalladiazamacrocycles, a class of MOMs, are finite 2D MOSs formed from tricationic hexacoordinate metal ions and ditopic bridging ligands, <I>N</I>-acylsalicylhydrazide, containing diaza residues, where the size and shape of the systems have been modulated by controlling the steric repulsions between the ligands. The 2D MOM systems could be expanded to 3D MOP systems by self-assembling <I>C</I>3 symmetric components and <I>C</I>4 symmetric components to octahedral MOPs. By substituting some replaceable solvent sites of MOMs or MOPs, MOFs based on MOMs or MOPs as SBBs have been constructed, where the properties of the SBBs have been directly transferred to the MOF systems.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>By substituting some replaceable solvent sites of MOMs or MOPs, MOFs based on MOMs or MOPs as SBBs have been constructed, where the properties of the SBBs have been directly transferred to the MOF systems. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b902988e'> </P>

      • Optimizing Network Lifetime of RPL Based IOT Networks Using Neural Network Based Cuckoo Search Algorithm

Prakash, P. Jaya,Lalitha, B. International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.1

Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPLs) in Internet of Things (IoT) is currently one of the most popular wireless technologies for sensor communication. RPLs are typically designed for specialized applications, such as monitoring or tracking, in either indoor or outdoor conditions, where battery capacity is a major concern. Several routing techniques have been proposed in recent years to address this issue. Nevertheless, the expansion of the network lifetime in consideration of the sensors' capacities remains an outstanding question. In this research, aANN-CUCKOO based optimization technique is applied to obtain a more efficient and dependable energy efficient solution in IOT-RPL. The proposed method uses time constraints to minimise the distance between source and sink with the objective of a low-cost path. By considering the mobility of the nodes, the technique outperformed with an efficiency of 98% compared with other methods. MATLAB software is used to simulate the proposed model.

Prevalence and determinants of sarcopenia in Indian patients with chronic kidney disease stage 3 & 4

        Avinash Kumar Dubey,Jaya Prakash Sahoo,Balasubramaniyan Vairappan,Sreejith Parameswaran,Priyamvada PS 대한골다공증학회 2021 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.7 No.4

Objectives: There is limited literature on the prevalence and determinants of sarcopenia in the Indian predialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) population. The current study attempts to characterize sarcopenia in CKD stages 3 & 4 using 3-compartment model dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Methods: This is secondary data from a randomized trial on bicarbonate supplementation for preserving muscle mass. A 3-compartment DXA was done to assess body composition in 188 subjects aged 18 to 65, with stable kidney function. Sarcopenia was defined by Asian Working Group criteria - appendicular skeletal mass index < 5.4 kg/㎡ in women and < 7 kg/㎡ in men. Results: Sarcopenia was present in 69.1% (n = 130). There was no difference in the prevalence of sarcopenia in CKD stage 3 (n = 62; 72.1%) vs CKD stage 4 (n = 68, 66.7%); P = 0.434. A lower body mass index (BMI) (OR 1.69; 95% CI 1.43, 2.01) and lower bicarbonate levels (OR 1.22; 95% CI 1.02, 1.47), and age (OR 0.95; 95% CI 0.91, 0.98) was independently associated with the muscle mass. A BMI cut-off of 18 failed to identify sarcopenia in 78.4% (n = 102) subjects (Kappa statistic 0.396). The receiver operating characteristic curve for mid-arm muscle circumference for identifying sarcopenia was 0.651 (95% CI 0.561, 0.740). Conclusions: Sarcopenia is highly prevalent in CKD 3 and 4. Sarcopenic individuals are older, with a low BMI and lower bicarbonate levels. The anthropometric parameters and biochemical parameters did not help identify sarcopenia in the predialysis population.

Drug-drug Interaction between Psychotropic Medications and Medications Used in COVID-19: Comparison of Online Databases

        Surobhi Chatterjee,Sujita Kumar Kar,Aathira Jaya Prakash,Teena Bansal,Garima Singh 대한정신약물학회 2023 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.21 No.3

Objective: COVID-19 has gravely affected patients with psychiatric conditions. Potential interactions may occur between psychotropic medications and medications used in treatment of COVID-19. This study aimed to compare the online databases in terms of the quality of drug-drug interaction related information available on them. Methods: 216 drug interactions which included fifty-four psychotropic medication interactions with four COVID-19 drugs across six databases were analyzed by four authors independently. The overall grading of the databases was done on Likert scale independently by the authors using the parameters of ease of understanding for consumers and professionals, level of completeness, discussion on level of evidence and the number of available drugs, congruity with other databases and the mean score was tabulated. Results: Drugbank and Lexicomp had maximum discrepancy. The safety profile of Hydroxychloroquine was the best (eighteen moderate/severe psychotropic medication reactions) while Ritonavir has worst profile with thirty-nine medications. Drugbank had the highest SCOPE score (1.00) for completeness and covid19druginteractions.com had least (0.81). Overall, Liverpool© Drug Interaction Group and Lexicomp scored the highest (23/30 each) and were the best interaction checker software closely followed by Drugs.com (22/30). Medscape and WebMD were the poorest interaction checker databases. Conclusion: There is significant variability in the available online databases. Liverpool© Drug Interaction Group and Lexicomp were the most reliable sources for healthcare workers whereas for patients, Drugs.com was the easiest to understand (as it segregates the needs of general consumers and professionals distinctly to explain the interaction).

Association of Circulating Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor with Cognition among Adult Obese Population

Ravi Babu Katuri,Girwar Singh Gaur,Jaya Prakash Sahoo,Zachariah Bobby,Karthik Shanmugavel 대한비만학회 2021 The Korean journal of obesity Vol.30 No.2

Background: Obesity has a strong association with the risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia at a later age. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor appear to be important components in cognitive function and are also involved in energy homeostasis. The level of circulating BDNF and its association with cognition has yet to be delineated clearly. In this work we studied the association of circulating BDNF with cognition among the adult obese population. Methods: The study involved 132 healthy participants between 18 and 40 years of age and of both sexes. The participants were categorized into an obesity group (n=66) and a non-obese group (n=66) based on their body mass index (Asian criteria). The level of cognitive performance was assessed by the event-related potentials P300 (ERPs-P300), mini-mental state examination (MMSE), both visual and auditory reaction times (VRT and ART, respectively), and other pen and paper tests related to memory and executive function. Serum BDNF, glycemic and lipid profiles were estimated. Results: We found significant differences in the ERPs-P300 latency (P<0.001) and amplitude (P=0.002) between the non-obese and obese group. The MMSE score was significantly reduced while VRT (P=0.005) and ART (P=0.001) were larger in the obese group. BDNF levels (P<0.001) were significantly reduced and negatively associated with the obese group. ERPs-P300 latency was negatively associated (r=–0.674, P=0.001) whereas amplitude (r=0.507, P<0.001) was positively associated with the BDNF levels in the adult obese population. Conclusion: We found reduced circulating BDNF levels in obese adults and that lower BDNF levels were strongly associated with cognitive decline in the obese adult population.

Modeling the Fresh and Hardened Stage Properties of Self-Compacting Concrete using Random Kitchen Sink Algorithm

Dhanya Sathyan,Kalpathy Balakrishnan Anand,Aravind Jaya Prakash,Bhavukam Premjith 한국콘크리트학회 2018 International Journal of Concrete Structures and M Vol.12 No.3

High performance concrete especially self compacting concrete (SCC) has got wide popularity in construction industry because of its ability to flow through congested reinforcement without segregation and bleeding. Even though European Federation of National Associations Representing for Concrete (EFNARC) guidelines are available for the mix design of SCC, large number of trials are required for obtaining an SCC mix with the desired engineering properties. The material and time requirement is more to conduct such large number of trials. The main objective of the study presented in this paper is to demonstrate use of regularized least square algorithm (RLS) along with random kitchen sink algorithm (RKS) to effectively predict the fresh and hardened stage properties of SCC. The database for testing and training the algorithm was prepared by conducting tests on 40 SCC mixes. Parametric variation in the SCC mixes were the quantities of fine and coarse aggregates, superplasticizer dosage, its family and water content. Out of 40 test results, 32 results were used for training and 8 set results were used for testing the algorithm. Modelling of both fresh state properties viz., flowing ability (Slump Flow), passing ability (J Ring), segregation resistance (V funnel at 5 min) as well as hardened stage property (compressive strength) of the SCC mix was carried out using RLS and RKS algorithm. Accuracy of the model was checked by comparing the predicted and measured values. The model could accurately predict the properties of the SCC within the experimental domain.
