조선업 도장작업자의 유사노출군과 노출변이; 크실렌 노출을 중심으로

목적 : 조선업 도장 작업자의 크실렌 노출을 평가하기 위하여, 수행직무 및 밀폐특성에 따라 유사노출군으로 구분하여 노출 변이 및 동질성을 파악하고자 하였다. 방법 : 3회 이상 반복측정이 이루어진 근로자 중동일공정에서 직무상 변동이 없는 근로자 총 28명을 대상으로 하였다. 노출농도 값을 대수전환(lOgtransformation)하여 근로자간, 근로자내 노출 분산요소을 추정하기 위하여, nested randomeffects ANOVA model을 활용하였다. 선정된 유사노출군 내 구성원의 측정 평균이 동일하다고 할수 있는지를 검정하기 위하여 분산요인(9f)을 산출하였고, 쿨즈0.031일 경우 동일하다고 생각하였다.또한 노출 값을 대수전환하여 95 %의 근로자(b-R9s)가 2배수 범위 내에 측정값을 가질 경우 동일하다고 생각하였다. bwRSS의 값을 유사노출군내의 근로자들간(between worker)의 기하표준편차(bwsy)를 구한 후 exp(3.92 bwsy)로 계산하여 산출하였고, 그 값이 2이하이면 동일하다고 생각하였다. 결과 : 일반적으로 유사노출군은 노출농도가 비슷한 것이라는 생각과는 달리, 직무에 근거한 유사노출군은 동질성 검정상 이질적이었다. 분무도장과 붓도장 모두 bwRss은 2를 초과하였고, 룰 또한 0.031를 초과하여 변이 폭이 컸다. 그러나 밀폐특성에 따른 노출 분포의 변이성은 직무만으로 구분했을 때의 변이지표 보다 그 수치가 낮아 밀폐특성으로 직무의 변이성을 설명 할 수 있었다. 결론 : 직무에 근거한 유사노출군이 동질적이지알다는 결과는 유사노출군으로 구분된 근로자의 업무특성이 하나의 유사노출군으로 설정할 수 없다는 점을 시사한다. 따라서 향후 작업환경 측정 시 직무뿐만 아니라 특정 업무(specific task) 또는 세부작업현황까지 파악할 필요성을 제시하고 있다. Objectives : This study was conducted to assess the concentration of xylene exposure and exposure variability of a similar exposure group (SEG) in accordance with job title and confined space. Method : The study subjects included 28 workers working in the painting process in the ship-building industry. Measurement of subjects were repeated three times. Within and between-worker exposure valiance components were estimated from log-transformed exposure concentrations employing a one-way nested random effects analysis of variance model. A uniformly exposed group was defined as one where the between-worker variance(σB2) was less than or equal to 0.031 or bwR95 ≤2, where bwR95 =exp(3.92 bwSy) , representing the radio of the mean exposures of the 97.5th and 2.5th percentile groups of the workers sampled. Result : The results indicated that, contrary to popular belief, similar exposed groups based on job title were heterogeneous. The between-worker variance(σB2) is large(≥0.031) and the ratios of the 97.5th and 2.5th percentile workers of the log normally distributed exposures of each group of worriers was more than 2. However dividing job title into confined space (in-block, out-block, in/out-block) decreased the between-worker exposure variability. Conclusion : This study focused on the quantitative aspects of exposure in painters in the ship-building industry. We cannot accept the assumption that SEG are uniformly exposed, as a major component of variation in exposure relates to differences in tacks or other factors. Therefore, the observational schemes can be improved by investigating Job-specific task and practice.

In vitro sensitivity testing was performed for 21 kinds putative anticancer drugs selected from references and information. Cellular damage of P815 mastocytoma cells following exposure to water extracts of drugs was evaluated by colony formation assay. Highly effective drugs with more than 50% inhibition of colony formation were seven (Houttuyniae Herba, Sanguisorbae Radix, Nepetae Herba, Manitis Squama, Lonicerae Flos, Amomi Semen, Polyporus), though not more effective than BCNU. According to the results of ³H-thymidine incorporation assay for determination of selective cytotoxicity, 3 of these drugs (Houttuyniae Herba, Polyporus, Manitis Squama) were found to be low cytotoxic to normal mouse lymphoid cells. These findings suggest that the above 3 drugs may be used for effective anticancer drugs in vivo.

Background/Aims: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is associated with gastroduodenal ulcer and gastric cancer only in a small proportion of infected subjects. Both virulence factors of H. pylori strains and host immune responses have been suggested to play an important role in the development of such lesions. HLA has been considered as an important host factor in many diseases. The aim of this study was to examine the HLA-DQ loci among duodenal ulcer patients with H. pylori infection as potential host genetic factors related to the development of duodenal ulcer. Methods: Thirty-two duodenal ulcer patients and 74 controls who had endoscopic chronic gastritis were studied. HLA-DQA1 and HLA-DQB1 genotypes were determined by polymerase chain reaction using sequence specific oligonucleotide probes (PCR-SSOP) with peripheral bloods obtained from the patients and controls. Results: HLA-DQA1 distribution pattern of the patients showed no significant difference from that of the controls. However, the frequency of HLA DQB1*04 was quite lower in the patients than in the controls (p=0.02). Conclusions: The HLA-DQA1 does not seem to contribute to the disease susceptibility, whereas HLA DQB1*04 may contribute to the protection from duodenal ulcer in H. pylori infected subjects. Background/Aims: Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) provides high-resolution images and is superior to computed tomography (CT) scan in diagnosing small pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). As a result, the use of EUS for early detection of PDAC has attracted attention. This study aimed to identify the clinical and radiological characteristics of patients with PDAC diagnosed by EUS but not found on CT scan. Methods: The medical records of patients diagnosed with PDAC at 12 tertiary referral centers in Korea from January 2003 to April 2019 were reviewed. This study included patients with pancreatic masses not clearly observed on CT scan but identified on EUS. The clinical characteristics and radiological features of the patients were analyzed, and survival analysis was performed. Results: A total of 83 patients were enrolled. The most common abnormal CT findings other than a definite mass was pancreatic duct dilatation, which was identified in 61 patients (73.5%). All but four patients underwent surgery. The final pathologic stages were as follows: IA (n=31, 39.2%), IB (n=8, 10.1%), IIA (n=20, 25.3%), IIB (n=17, 21.5%), III (n=2, 2.5%), and IV (n=1, 1.4%). The 5-year survival rate of these patients was 50.6% (95% confidence interval, 38.8% to 66.7%). Elevated liver function testing and R1 resection emerged as significant predictors of mortality in the multivariable Cox regression analysis. Conclusions: This multicenter study demonstrated favorable long-term prognosis in patients with PDAC diagnosed by EUS but indeterminate on CT scan. EUS should be considered for patients with suspected PDAC but indeterminate on CT scan.

This study was carried out to evaluate the genetic diversity and relationships among fifty-six blackberry (Rubus fructicosus) mutants derived from gamma-ray treatment (fifty-two lines) by analysis of Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers. Both cluster analysis and principal coordinate analysis (PCOORDA) were conducted in order to study the genetic diversity, using both morphological traits and AFLP makers. A total of 589 bands were amplified with an average of 58.9 bands per primer. Among them, 560 were identified to be polymorphic, with a rate of 95.08%. A showed a highly significant (P≤0.01) positive correlation with GD and PIC (r2=0.999). MI also showed a significant (P≤0.05) positive correlation with GD and PIC. According to the clustering analysis, all mutant lines could be classified into five categories, but the three gamma-ray treatment lines and the cross-bred line were not clustered into any groups. For the morphological traits, cluster analysis divided the blackberry germplasm into six clusters and two independent groups. In addition, the morphological dendrogram indicated an unclear pattern of division among the groups based on AFLP analysis. The findings of this study indicate that mutant lines have high genetic diversity, and can be effectively utilized as materials for the improvement of breeding.

Dependence of magnetic and magneto-optic properties on composition of amorphous NdFe alloys has been studied to identify a promising magneto-optic recording material in the wavelength of a blue laser beam. From the view point of crystallographic state, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy energy and polar Kerr rotation angle, the Nd-rich region was found to be suitable for the research purpose.
