Background: Long commuting times have a negative impact on mental health. However, few studies have explored the relationship between commuting time and well-being based on urbanization by region. Our study examines this relationship as well as the effect of regional differences on Korean workers. Methods: We used data from the sixth Korean Working Conditions Survey. Commuting time and occupational factors were assessed using a questionnaire, and subjective well-being was assessed using the World Health Organization-5 Well-Being Index. Regions were divided into the cities and the provinces based on Korea’s administrative divisions. Logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the association between commuting time and wellbeing. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for well-being were estimated, using participants commuting time of < 20 minutes as a reference group. Results: The total number of workers was 29,458 (13,855 men, 15,603 women). We found higher aORs for low well-being among workers with long commuting times (aOR, 1.23; 95% CI, 1.11–1.36 and aOR, 1.28; 95% CI, 1.16–1.42 for 60–79 and ≥ 80 minutes, respectively). When stratified by sex and region, higher aORs for low well-being were found only in the workers who lived in cities. Conclusion: Long commuting time was negatively associated with well-being in Korean wage workers living in the cities. Policies for reducing commuting time should be discussed to address the mental health of workers, especially those living in metropolitan cities.
지상파 데이터 방송을 위한 t-learning 콘텐츠 접근 동기화 방법

최근 지상파 서비스에도 양방향 데이터방송 TV 서비스 기능이 본격화되면서 t-learning(TV learning) 콘텐츠 개발도 활성화 되고 있다. 학습자가 데이터방송을 통해 콘텐츠를 학습할 때, 적절한 시기에 적절한 상호작용이 활성화되어야 한다. 현재 제공되는 데이터방송은 VoD(Video on Demand)의 패키지 기반이기 때문에, 프로그램이 처음 시작한 시간에 의지한 상대적인 시간으로 재생되는 방식이다. 그러나 학습자가 t-learning 콘텐츠를 시청하는 시점이 다양하기 때문에 VoD 방송으로는 적절한 시점에 적절한 데이터를 제공하기 어려운 동기화 문제가 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 학습자가 t-learning 콘텐츠의 어느 시점에 접근하더라도 적절한 시점에 학습자와 콘텐츠 간의 상호작용이 가능한 동기화 메커니즘을 제시한다.

SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) 기반의 VoIP(Voice of IP) 서비스와 같은 커뮤니티 서비스는 유선망을 비롯한 다양한 유선망에도 제공되고 있다. 하지만 아직 노드들의 이동성이 높거나 망 구조가 자주 변경되는 MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) 환경에서는 완벽한 서비스 제공이 어렵다. 그러나 최근 MANET의 네트워크 계층과 관련된 여러 기법들이 연구되면서 응용서비스의 안정성이 보장되어가고 있다. 이미 VoIP 서비스인 경우, MANET에 적용한 연구들이 발표되고 있고 있으며, 다른 멀티미디어 관련 서비스들이 MANET 환경에 적용하기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문은 기존의 SIP 기반의 PTT(Push-To-Talk) 서비스를 MANET 환경에서 구동 시 문제점을 알아보고, 서비스를 원활하게 적용할 수 있는 방안을 제안하고자한다.

American foulbrood (AFB) is caused by the bacterium Paenibacillus larvae, which is highly contagious and often lethal to honeybee broods. To control AFB, rapid diagnostic tools including those based on immunological methods are required. We produced several specific mouse monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against P. larvae. Interestingly, a few of the MAbs were revealed to be an IgM-type antibody. To ascertain the effects of adjuvants on immunoglobulin isotype switching, BALB/c mice were immunized with various adjuvants, i.e., Freund's adjuvant (FA), Alum adjuvant, and AddaVax™ followed by the generation of hybridoma that secreted monoclonal antibodies to P. larvae. In the case of AddaVax™, all screened hybridoma clones secreted IgG-type MAbs, whereas hybridomas generated by Alum and FA secreted 91.25% (7/80) and 66.67% (11/33) respectively, IgG-type MAbs. Although the mechanism of incomplete immunoglobulin isotype switching associated with the P. larvae antigen needs further study, our results indicate that the applied adjuvants can have a significant effect on immunoglobulin isotype switching results.

<P>Solar fuel production, mimicking natural photosynthesis of converting CO2 into useful fuels and storing solar energy as chemical energy, has received great attention in recent years. Practical large-scale fuel production needs a unique device capable of CO2 reduction using only solar energy and water as an electron source. Here we report such a system composed of a gold-decorated triple-layered ZnO@ZnTe@CdTe core-shell nanorod array photocathode and a CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cell in tandem. The assembly allows effective light harvesting of higher energy photons (>2.14 eV) from the front-side photocathode and lower energy photons (>1.5 eV) from the back-side-positioned perovskite solar cell in a single-photon excitation. This system represents an example of a photocathode-photovoltaic tandem device operating under sunlight without external bias for selective CO2 conversion. It exhibited a steady solar-to-CO conversion efficiency over 0.35% and a solar-to-fuel conversion efficiency exceeding 0.43% including H-2 as a minor product.</P>
