The DWTSG concept is proposed as a advanced steam generator of liquid metal reactor to avoid sodium-water reaction incidents in the SG. The optimization of steam generator from economic viewpoint is to minimize the total cost of heat transfer area and pumping power. The baffles are primarily used in shell and tube steam generator for inducing cross flow over tube bundles, and as a results, improving heat transfer performance. In this paper a computer based design method, which covers segmentally baffled steam generator is developed for preliminary DWTSG design. And parametric sensitivity studies are done to determine required heat transfer area to meet the specified heat capacity by calculating minimum or allowable shell-side pressure loss.

Generally, shear wall system appears to resist the lateral loads, because high-rise buildings require satisfaction of building drift limit due to lateral loads. However shear wall system used mostly concrete, in this paper steel plate shear wall use to resist the lateral loads instead of reinforced concrete wall system. But, there is lack of research and understanding of steel plate shear wall system so that no real building of such system exists in Korea. This paper demonstrates stability and serviceability of steel plate shear wall by preliminary experimental test.

Objectives : To investigate the nature of emotional responsiveness in norma) adults, we exam the emotional responses to emotional pictures in an evaluative space defined by arousal and valence. Methods : Subjects were instructed to rate the arousal and valence that they experienced from the presentation of one of two sets of 60 emotional pictures. These two picture sets were comprised of 107 pictures : 101 selected from Intetnational Affective Pictures System and six pictures from our own collection. According to "evaluative space model", the authors set an evaluative space defined by the arousal scores as independent variable and the valence scores as dependent variable. In this evaluative space, one-hundred-and-seven pairs of coordinates representing respective emotional pictures were plotted. With regression analyses, the steepness of the regression lines on the plots with positive emotional responsiveness (n=51) and those with negative emotional responsiveness (n=56) were compared. Results : In the evaluative space, the regression line of negative emotional responsiveness was significantly different from that of positive responsiveness. The slope of negative responsiviveness was significantly steeper than that of positive responsiveness. At a low arousal level, the absolute valence of a positive stimuli was larger than that of a negative picture. Conclusion : This finding indicates that the function of the negative affective responsiveness might be different from that of the positive responsitiveness. IAPS also seems applicable to Korean subjects.
A Non-binary C-R Hybrid DAC for 12 b 100 MS/s CMOS SAR ADCs with Fast Residue Settling

This work proposes two versions of a 12 b 100 MS/s successive-approximation register (SAR) ADC based on a non-binary C-R hybrid DAC. The proposed DAC applies a non-binary weighted capacitor array to the 7 MSBs to meet the settling requirement of the DAC output and determines the remaining 5 LSBs using the reference voltages generated from a simple resistor string to reduce the DAC area significantly. The Version 1 ADC in a 28 ㎚ CMOS adopts a synchronous SAR logic and a comparator with a tail capacitor and a reset switch to minimize power consumption. The Version 2 ADC in a 0.18 ㎛ CMOS employs an asynchronous SAR logic with simple meta-stability correction logic to achieve high-speed operation. The Version 1 ADC which has an active die area of 0.042 ㎟ shows a maximum signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio (SNDR) and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 62.3 and 77.3 ㏈, respectively, consuming 1.3 ㎽ with a 1.0 V supply voltage. The Version 2 ADC is based on a similar analog circuit topology, showing a maximum SNDR and SFDR of 60.1 and 73.5 ㏈, respectively, with an active die area of 0.30 ㎟, operating at a 1.8 V supply voltage.
Effects of Vitex rotundifolia on radical scavenging and nitric oxide production

Vitex rotundifolia (V. rotundifolia) has been used for treating headache, dizziness, toothache and removal of fever as a traditional medicine in Korea. In the present study, we examined the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of 85% methanol extract of V. rotundifolia. In various radical scavenging assays, V. rotundifolia exhibited strong scavenging effect on 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radical, superoxide radical, nitric oxide. To elucidate the anti-inflammatory properties of V. rotundifolia, we investigated the inhibition effects of nitric oxide production in IFN-gamma and LPS-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages. V. rotundifolia suppressed nitric oxide production, iNOS and COX-2 expression dose-dependently through suppression of NF-$\hat{e}B$ activation without notable cytotoxicity. These findings mean that V. rotundifolia may be beneficial in oxidative stress-mediated inflammatory disorders.
Expert System for Fault Diagnosis of Transformer

This paper presents hybrid expert system for diagnosis of electric power transformer faults. The expert system diagnose and detect faults in oil-filled power transformers based on dissolved gas analysis. As the preprocessing stage, fuzzy information theory is used to manage the uncertainty in transformer fault diagnosis using dissolved gas analysis. The Kohonen neural network takes the interim results by applying fuzzy informations theory as inputs, and performs the transformer fault diagnosis. The Proposed system tested gas records of power transformers from Korea Electric Power Corporation to verify the diagnosis performance of transformer faults.

The surface of fumed nano-silica(nano-SiO2) was treated with alkyl silazane to change from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. Aluminum Trihydroxide(nano-ATH) was surface treated with vinyl silazane to improve electrical properties(high voltage direct current [HVDC] breakdown strength and tracking resistance). A kneader was prepared by mixing surface-modified nano-SiO2 and surface-modified nano-ATH with liquid silicon. and the effect on electrical properties of surface-modified nano-ATH was studied for application to heavy electrical equipment. Surface modification was confirmed through thermogravimetric analysis and contact angle analysis. As the nano-ATH content increased(±), HVDC breakdown strength and tracking resistance increased significantly. As the nano-ATH content increased, the leakage current that occurred initially was delayed and the current intensity decreased. The amount of erosion also decreased.
