Consequences of electronic excitations in CoFe<sub>1.90</sub>Dy<sub>0.10</sub>O<sub>4</sub>

Present work reports the irradiation induced effects in Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> doped cobalt ferrite nanoparticles in the regime of dominant electronic excitation processes induced by 100 MeV O<SUP>7+</SUP> ion irradiation. Irradiation leads to the deterioration of crystalline phase as envisaged by X-ray diffraction. Crystallite size decreases with the increase of irradiation fluence. Disappearance of certain bands in Raman spectra at higher fluence of irradiation confirms the crystalline disorder induced by electronic excitations. Fourier transform infrared spectra show onset of cation migration from tetrahedral site to octahedral site and vice versa. X-ray absorption fine structure measurements depict the preservation of valence state of metal ions after irradiation. These measurements further infer bond breaking process in irradiated materials. Magnetic measurements carried out on these materials indicate slight increase of saturation magnetization at room temperature followed by the decrease of coercive field. Obtained results are discussed on the basis of appropriate mechanism.

We studied the durability of the previously reported low mass loaded, highly efficient electrospray deposited Pt film as a cathode and Ni mesh as anode electrode in PV assisted water electrolysis system for 1000 h. This assembly showed no detectable decline in performance for initial 200 h, but thereafter it started to decline with time and showed 18% decline after 1000 h. For conclusion, we analyzed the electrode surfaces by different analyzing techniques. Results showed that Pt film was detaching from the surface and there was a deposition of passive layer of Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> on edge side of cathode surface. The iron derivative might be come from the corrosion of the stainless steel connectors that we used in PV assisted water electrolysis system. The etching and oxidation of anode surface was also observed but it might not be responsible for deterioration of performance.

The further progress in the development of the method of misfire diagnostics based on the effect of modulation of the breakdown voltage between electrodes of a spark-plug was achieved by means of Fourier transform of the output signal. Strong correlation between the misfire appearance and the level of the second harmonic in the signal of breakdown voltage obtained from the spark-plug was found. It allows us to establish a quantitative criterion of misfire.<br/>
An Application Study of the System for Knocking-Effect Control on Real Car

The measurement of Ionization Current(IC) in the gasoline engine is one of perspective methods for knocking detector because combustion<br/> processes and moving of combustion products in the cylinder are<br/> accompanied as a rule by oscillation phenomena. The spark plug in gasoline engine can be used as knocking detector sensor. For this study, the system for the knocking-effect control of an engine was tested in the gasoline engine. The improvements of several major parameters for the driving car were found on the field-test. Also, more comfortably driving and more soft operation of the engine were noted subjectively.<br/>
