Investigating the magnetic entropy change in single-phase Y2Fe17 melt-spun ribbons
J.L. S anchez Llamazares,Pablo Alvarez-Alonso,C.F. S anchez-Vald es,P.J. Ibarra-Gayt an,J.A. Blanco,Pedro Gorria 한국물리학회 2016 Current Applied Physics Vol.16 No.9
The inspection of simplified fabrication and/or processing routes in order to produce materials with attractive magnetocaloric properties is of paramount importance for the development of environmentally friendly magnetic cooling technology. In this work, we have made use of the melt-spinning technique to obtain directly single-phase Y2Fe17 polycrystalline ribbons avoiding any high-temperature annealing for phase consolidation and homogenization. The melt-spun ribbons, with hexagonal Th2Ni17-type crystal structure, exhibit a moderate maximum value of the magnetic entropy change, | DSM peak| ¼ 2.4(4.4) J kg1 K1 under an applied magnetic field change of 2(5) T. Although these values are similar to those for the bulk alloy, the DSM(T) curves are manifestly broader, thus giving rise to an expansion of the working temperature range and the enhancement of about 15% in the refrigerant capacity. We also show that the magnetic field dependence of |DSM peak| at T ¼ TC follows a H2/3 power-law.

<P>PCM-15 is a robust and recyclable sensor for the effective discrimination of a wide range of small molecules. Sensing is achieved by direct attenuation of the luminescence intensity of Tb(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions within the material. Catalytic cracking of raw bio-oil under FCC unit conditions over different zeolite-based catalysts
Alvaro Ibarra,Idoia Hita,Miren J. Azkoiti,Jose M. Arandes,Javier Bilbao 한국공업화학회 2019 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.78 No.-
The performance of different zeolite-based catalysts (HY, HZSM-5 and HBeta) on the catalytic cracking ofbio-oil has been explored, using a simulated riser reactor and resembling industrial FCC conditions. Theeffect of the C/O (catalyst/bio-oil) ratio and the zeolite types have been assessed. The level ofdeoxygenation is >61% (increasing with C/O ratio). Total hydrocarbon yield was higher for the HBetacatalyst (56 wt%), while the liquid hydrocarbons yields were relatively similar for all catalysts, obtaininghigher gasoline yields with the HY catalyst (46–55 wt%), and higher LPG yields with the HZSM-5 catalyst(12–14 wt%) due to its higher acidity. The HY zeolite produced more coke (4–7 wt%) given its capacity forretaining coke precursors within its micropores.

Sin, Mo-Kyung,Ibarra, Brandon,Tae, Thomas,Murphy, Patrick J.M. Korean society of Biological Nursing Science 2015 Journal of korean biological nursing science Vol.17 No.2
Purpose: Despite well-known benefits of walking on cardiovascular health, no structured walking exercise program has been formally tested on elderly Korean immigrants (EKIs). This pilot randomized controlled trial study assessed the effect of a walking program on walking behavior (pedometer steps count), stress (cortisol), depressive symptoms (CESD-10), and cardiovascular disease biomarkers (hs-CRP and fibrinogen) via venipuncture in EKIs. Methods: Seventy EKIs recruited from a Korean community were randomly assigned to a 12-week walking group or control group in a 3:2 ratio. The working program included a pedometer, buddy, monthly coffee card, weekly call for goal setting, and physical activity consultation. Walking group EKIs maintained the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended exercise guidelines and good mental health status over 12 weeks. Results: There was no significant difference in the outcomes between control and walking groups. Conclusion: Social networking with Koreans in the senior center and church from a well-established Korean community might have positive effects on mental health.

Effect of Magnet Implant on Iron Biodistribution of Fe@C Nanoparticles in the Mouse
Elvira Escribano,Rodrigo Fernández-Pacheco,J. Gabriel Valdivia,M. Ricardo Ibarra,Clara Marquina,Josep Queralt 대한약학회 2012 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.35 No.1
The in vivo biodistribution of Fe@C nanoparticles (NP) was tested in mice bearing an inflammatory focus induced by injecting carrageenan into an air pouch previously formed on their back. The animals were intravenously injected NP with a high (60 mg/kg) or a low iron dose (6 mg/kg) and sacrificed 2 h later. Blood and organ samples (liver, spleen, lung, and kidney)were obtained; washed exudates were also collected. Iron concentration in plasma, blood cells, organs, and exudates was determined by flameless atomic-absorption-spectroscopy after digestion of organic material. Pouch exudate volume increased in all groups of mice with experimental inflammation. After i.v. administration of the high and low dose of NP,iron in exudate increased by 83.3% and 92.2%, respectively. A similar increase in hepatic iron appeared after the high dose (78%), but no increase appeared after the low dose. When the magnet was present, a 157% and 119% increase of iron in exudate appeared after both doses of NPs, but only the high dose of NP increased iron liver (60%). The presence of a magnetic field in the pouch favored selective biodistribution of NP in the inflammatory focus. These results indicate that mice with an inflammatory compartment are suitable for primary screening of different NP types. They also show that selective biodistribution is greater when a low dose of NP was used and that distribution in the target organ was increased by the magnetic field.
Heat Treated Twin Wire Arc Spray AISI 420 Coatings Under Dry and Wet Abrasive Wear
E. Rodriguez,M. A. González,H. R. Monjardín,O. Jimenez,M. Flores,J. Ibarra 대한금속·재료학회 2017 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.23 No.6
The influence of applying two different heat treatments such as: deep cryogenic and tempering on dry/wetabrasive wear resistance of twin wire arc spray martensitic AISI 420 coatings was evaluated by using a modifiedrubber wheel type test apparatus. A load dependency was observed on the abrasive wear rate behavior ofboth; dry and wet tests. Three body (rolling) and two body (sliding) wear mechanisms were identified in dryconditions, prevailing rolling at lower and higher loads. However, at higher loads, more presence of groovingand pits formation was observed. Coatings tempered at 205 °C/1 h displayed better wear resistance thancryogenic treated ones. A change in wear mechanism between dry and wet conditions was observed; two bodywear mechanism predominated respect to three body. In both; dry and wet conditions the microstructure(several inter-splat oxides) as well as strain and residual stress promotes brittle material removal which wasmore evident in cryogenic and as-sprayed samples during dry test and at higher loads in wet conditions.
