      • 해시태그를 통한 감정 공유가 지각된 관심 끌기와 사회적 상호작용성에 미치는 영향

        소셜 미디어를 통한 감정 공유가 증가하고 있다. 감정공유는 타인의 공감을 얻고 ‘좋아요’나 댓글과 같은 사회적 상호작용을 증가시키기 위해 이루어진다. 그러나 지나친 감정 공유로 인해 오히려 타인의 공감을 얻지 못하고 관심 끌기라고 판단되는 경우가 나타나고 있다. 관심 끌기를 목적으로 한다고 판단되는 게시물에 대해 사용자들은 공감하지 못하고 사회적 상호작용을 줄이게 된다. 관심 끌기라고 판단하게 되는 원인 중 하나로 해시태그(#)를 통한 감정 공유가 있다. 기존의 해시태그는 게시물의 주제를 나타내는 키워드로 주로 사용되었으나 최근에는 직접적인 감정 공유의 수단으로도 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 해시태그가 강조성과 보편성이라는 수사적 기능을 수행하며 이러한 기능이 감정 공유에 있어 관심 끌기라고 판단하게 되는데 영향을 줄 것이라고 생각하였다. 이러한 관계를 알아보기 위해 본 연구에서는 해시태그를 통해 감정을 공유하는 가상의 게시물을 제작하여 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과 관심 끌기를 목적으로 하고 있다고 생각될수록 게시물에 대한 ‘좋아요’ 수가 감소함을 확인하였다. 또한 공유된 감정이 강조되었고 보편적이지 않다고 생각될수록 관심 끌기라고 판단하는 것으로 나타났다. Emotion sharing on social media is flourishing. People share their feelings to increase social interactions such as ‘like’ and comment. Due to the excessive sharing, however, some people have failed appealing and perceived as attention seekers. People do not empathize with an attention seeking post and decrease the number of social interaction. Emotion shared with hashtag(#) is a classic example which is perceived as an attention seeking. Although hashtag has usually represented a keyword of a post, recently it becomes an emotion delivering method. In this study, we hypothesized that the rhetorical function of hashtag affects the judgment of attention seeking. To verify the hypotheses, we conducted a survey with prototype system. The result indicated that as people perceived the post as attention seeking, the number of ‘like’ decreased. In addition, people tend to judge the post as attention seeking, when they think shared emotion is emphasized and unique.

        Crystal Structure of the Regulatory Domain of MexT, a Transcriptional Activator of the MexEF-OprN Efflux Pump in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

        The Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, has multiple multidrug efflux pumps. MexT, a LysR-type transcriptional regulator, functions as a transcriptional activator of the MexEF-OprN efflux system. MexT consists of an N-terminal DNA-binding domain and a C-terminal regulatory domain (RD). Little is known regarding MexT ligands and its mechanism of activation. We elucidated the crystal structure of the MexT RD at 2.0 Å resolution. The structure comprised two protomer chains in a dimeric arrangement. MexT possessed an arginine-rich region and a hydrophobic patch lined by a variable loop, both of which are putative ligand-binding sites. The three-dimensional structure of MexT provided clues to the interacting ligand structure. A DNase I footprinting assay of full-length MexT identified two MexT-binding sequence in the mexEF-oprN promoter. Our findings enhance the understanding of the regulation of MexT-dependent activation of efflux pumps.

      • The Transgenic Poplar as an Efficient Bioreactor System for the Production of Xylanase

        <P>Plants are attractive expression systems for large-scale, low-cost production of high-value proteins. The xylanase 2 gene (Xyn2), encoding an endo-β-1,4-xylanase from Trichoderma reesei, was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli and the poplar (Populus spp.). The optimal temperature and pH of the recombinant xylanase were 50 C and 5.0 respectively when expressed in E. coli. The purpose of this study was to produce recombinant xylanase in poplar. The Xyn2 gene was transferred into poplars by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The transgenic status and transgene expression of the transformed poplar were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) genotyping and reverse transcription (RT)-PCR analysis. The poplar-expressed xylanase was biologically active, with an expression level of up to 14.4% of total leaf soluble protein. In the leaves, the average xylanase content was 1.016 mg per g of leaf fresh weight in the transgenic poplar. We found that the poplar might make possible the large-scale production of commercially important recombinant proteins.</P>

      • Microfluidic approaches for gene delivery and gene therapy

        <P>Recent advances in microfluidics have created new and exciting prospects for gene delivery and therapy. The micro-scaled environment within microfluidic systems enables precise control and optimization of multiple processes and techniques used in gene transfection and the production of gene and drug transporters. Traditional non-viral gene transfection methods, such as electroporation, microinjection and optical gene transfection, are improved from the use of innovative microfluidic systems. Additionally, microfluidic systems have also made the production of many viral and non-viral vectors controlled, automated, and reproducible.       • Carbonation/granulation of mine tailings using a MgO/ground-granule blast-furnace-slag binder

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A carbonation/granulation process for treating mine tailings using a MgO/ground-granule blast-furnace-slag (GGBS) binder was developed. The materials were mixed and granules produced using a granulator, then the granules were cured in a CO<SUB>2</SUB> atmosphere. The optimum granulator rotation speed and retention time were 60 rpm and 7 min, respectively. The binder composition MgO<SUB>0.5</SUB>GGBS<SUB>0.5</SUB> and binder: mine tailings ratio 3:10 gave the strongest granules. Carbonation generally increased the granule strength, but different CO<SUB>2</SUB> concentrations, between 0.04% and 100%, changed the granule strength to different degrees. Granules cured in 20% CO<SUB>2</SUB> for 28 d had a strength of 4.71 MPa, which was higher than the strengths of granules cured in other CO<SUB>2</SUB> concentrations and of granules produced using Portland cement. The granules had relatively high CO<SUB>2</SUB> storage capacities of 0.157–0.167 kg CO<SUB>2</SUB>/kg binder and good acid-neutralizing capacities (higher than the acid-neutralizing capacity of granules produced using Portland cement). The strength of the granules cured in 20% CO<SUB>2</SUB> for 28 d was probably mainly attributed to the formation of hydromagnesite during carbonation. The hydromagnesite contributed dense and connected structures within the granules.       • Activation of Persulfate by Nanosized Zero-Valent Iron (NZVI): Mechanisms and Transformation Products of NZVI

        <P>The mechanisms involved in the activation of persulfate by nanosized zero-valent iron (NZVI) were elucidated and the NZVI transformation products identified. Two distinct reaction stages, in terms of the kinetics and radical formation mechanism, were found when phenol was oxidized by the persulfate/NZVI system. In the initial stage, lasting 10 min, Fe<SUP>0</SUP><SUB>(s)</SUB> was consumed rapidly and sulfate radicals were produced through activation by aqueous Fe<SUP>2+</SUP>. The second stage was governed by Fe catalyzed activation in the presence of aqueous Fe<SUP>3+</SUP> and iron (oxyhydr)oxides in the NZVI shells. The second stage was 3 orders of magnitude slower than the initial stage. An electron balance showed that the sulfate radical yield per mole of persulfate was more than two times higher in the persulfate/NZVI system than in the persulfate/Fe<SUP>2+</SUP> system. Radicals were believed to be produced more efficiently in the persulfate/NZVI system because aqueous Fe<SUP>2+</SUP> was supplied slowly, preventing sulfate radicals being scavenged by excess aqueous Fe<SUP>2+</SUP>. In the second stage, the multilayered shell conducted electrons, and magnetite in the shell provided electrons for the activation of persulfate. Iron speciation analysis (including X-ray absorption spectroscopy) results indicated that a shrinking core/growing shell model explained NZVI transformation during the persulfate/NZVI process.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

      • 같은 국가의 사용자들은 같은 문화를 가지고 있는가? : 특정 기기에 대한 개인 수준의 문화적 성향에 대한 실증적 연구

        최근 HCI 분야에서는 사용자들이 가지고 있는 문화적 성향이 사용자 경험에 미치는 영향에 대한 다양한 연구들이 이루어져 왔다. 이는 사용자들이 가지고 있는 문화적 성향이 어떠한 기기나 시스템을 이해하고 해석하는 방식에 영향을 미치는 지각적 렌즈(Perceptual Lens)로서 작용하기 때문이다. 이와 같은 사용자들이 가지고 있는 문화적 성향의 중요성에도 불구하고 기존 HCI 분야의 연구들은 국가와 문화를 동일시하면서 국가 수준에서 문화의 중요성만을 강조하고 있다. 그러나 어떠한 기기나 시스템의 사용은 개인 수준에서의 행동이기 때문에 국가와 문화를 동일시 하는 것은 개인 수준의 행동을 설명하지 못한다는 한계가 있다. 이는 문화적 성향이 한 국가 내에서도 개인에 따라 다양한 양상을 나타낼 수 있으며, 더 나아가 한 개인 안에서도 대상이나 정황에 따라 다른 양상을 나타낼 수 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 사용자들이 가지고 있는 문화적 성향에 있어 국가 간 차이가 존재할 뿐만 아니라, 기기 간에도 차이가 존재함을 밝히는 것을 기본 목적으로 한다. 이와 같은 목적을 위하여 본 연구에서는 Hofstede[1980]가 제시한 네 가지 문화적 차원(불확실성 회피 성향, 개인주의 성향, 남성성 성향, 권력 거리 성향)을 중심으로 각 차원에 있어 나타나는 국가 간 그리고 기기 간 사용자들의 문화적 성향의 차이를 3 개 국(미국, 독일, 러시아)에서 4 개 디지털 기기(핸드폰, MP3 플레이어, LCD TV, 냉장고) 사용자들을 대상으로 한 대규모 설문을 기반으로 검증하였다.

        알쯔하이머병 환자에서 7분 선별검사를 이용한 인지장애의 평가

        연구목적 : 알쯔하이머 병은 인지기능이 점차로 저하되는 특징이 있다. 노화와 연관된 인지기능저하(age associated cognitive decline)와 경증 알쯔하이머 병은 구분이 어렵다. 경증 알쯔하이머 병을 선별하는 진단적 도구로서 한국인 알쯔하이머 환자들을 대상으로 7분 선별검사의 진단적 신뢰도와 영역별 특성을 살펴보았다. 방법 : DSM-IV에 의거하여 알쯔하이머 병으로 입원한 노인환자(N=28)에 대해서, 2주 이상의 병동적응 과정을 거친 후, MMSE-K 및 7분 선별검사(The 7 Minute Screen, 이하 7MS)로 인지기능을 평가하고 구조적 면담과 제반검사를 시행하였으며, 연령과 교육수준을 맞춘 건강한 대조군(N=30)에 대해서도 동일한 인지기능검사를 수행하여 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 7분 선별검사의 소검사는 Benton Temporal Orientation Test, Enhanced Cued Recall, Clock Drawing 및 Category Fluency 둥 네 가지로 구성되었다. 결과 : 1. 경증 알쯔하이머 병 환자군에서 7분 선별검사상 네 가지 소검사별 평균 점수는 지남력검사 62.07±40.28, 기억력 검사상 전체 8.43±3.04, Cued Recall 4.00±1.98, Uncued Recall 4.43±1.50, 시각ㆍ공간력검사 1.64±2.04, 언어유창성검사 8.79±2.36점이었으며, 네 가지 소검사에서 모두 대조군에 비해서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.01). 2. 경증 알쯔하이머 병 환자군에서 7분 선별검사의 네 가지 소검사별 절취점의 결정은 지남력검사에서는 0, 기억력검사상 전체는 10개, 시각ㆍ공간력검사는 1점, 언어유창성검사 11개를 기준으로 그 이하에서 치매로 구분되었다. 3. 알쯔하이머 병 환자군에서 7분 선별검사의 네 가지 소검사 점수는 MMSE, 교육정도와 유의한 연관성이 있었다 결론 : 경증 알츠하이머 병 환자군에서 지남력, 기억력, 시각ㆍ공간력, 언어유창성 등의 인지영역에서 기능장애를 볼 수 있었다. Background : Alzheimer's disease is a typical neuropsychiatric disorder with declining of various cognitive function. It may be difficult to differentiated age-associated cognitive decline from mild Alzheimer's dementia. This study was done to identify cognitive disorders in Alzheimer's disease using the 7 Minute Screen. The '7 Minute Screen' test developed by Paul S. Soloman shows high sensitivity and specificity for screening of early Alzheimer' disease. Methods : The cognitive deficits were evaluated using the Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE) and the 7 Minute Screen(7 MS) in patients with Alzheimer's disease (N=28) as well as in age and education level matched healthy controls (N=30). Four individual tests of the 7 MS were consisted of the Benton Temporal Orientation Test, the Memory Test, the Clock Drawing and the Category Fluency. Results : 1. The average scores of four individual tests of the 7 MS for the Alzheimer's disease were 62.07±40.28 for the Benton Temporal Orientation Test, 8.43±3.04 for the Memory Test, 1.64±2.04 for the Clock Drawing and 8.79±2.36 for the Category Fluency. There were statistically significant differences between test scores of Alzheimer's disease and controls(p<0.01). 2. Cut-off poimts of individual test scores of the 7 Minute Screen in mild Alzheimer's disease were 0 for the Benton Temporal Orientation Test, 10 for the Memory Test, 1 for the Clock Drawing and 11 for the Category Fluency. Mild Alzheimer's disease obtained the scores below these levels. 3. Four individual test scores of the 7 MS seemed to have statistically significant association with MMSE and education level. Conclusion : Dysfuntion in cognitive areas such as orientation, memory, visuospatial abilities and verbal fluency could be found in mild Alzheimer's disease. 7 MS to be a valuable tool for the screening of Alzheimer's disease in the Korean elderly.
