        What Kind of Product Does the Person Who Feel Nostalgia Buy? Examine the Effect of Product Types

        Recently in Korea, retro style is all the vogue. The retro style began with Korean soap operas, movies, and many of famous TV shows and now it has a positive effect overall in Korea trend. Result from this trend, a lot of brands, products, and fashion which were caught on the past are enjoying a renaissance, and the people who pursue the retro style are seen at various ages. This retro style can be explained as ‘nostalgia’. Nostalgia can arouse positive emotions than negative emotions and people would recall that the past experiences were warm enough because of these positive emotions. Therefore, Nostalgia is an effective marketing strategy to induce positive responses by evoke positive emotions of consumers. On marketing field, there are many researches that focus on the various effect of nostalgia. However, existing studies have been limited to past products causing the Nostalgia, and the product itself has not been considered in various aspects. Especially, there are little researches on the types of products that affect attitude changes and purchase intention in the role of nostalgia. Therefore, this study aims to provide the theoretical and practical implications to search for what types of products that consumers want to purchase according to the type of product when the nostalgia is evoked. This research is composed of one experiment and the study and 67 undergraduates at the university in Korea and 48 participants on online survey are took part in. This study is designed by 2X2 factorial design (nostalgia and types of product). Participants were given each scenario that nostalgia situation and control situation, and show each types of product (based of goods vs based of experience) checked purchase intention and wrote amount of money that willing to pay. To test this study, I use t-test, ANOVA, and Process Modeling to analyze. The result of manipulation check was good enough and the main effect show that consumers in the context of nostalgia are more likely to purchase. Finally, the interaction effect of nostalgia and types of products shows that consumers with nostalgia were more likely to purchase experience based products than just product based ones. As in previous studies, this study also found that nostalgia increases purchase intentions. It seems that nostalgia has raised consumers' purchasing intentions by reminding them of past positive recall. And experience based products increased consumers' purchasing intention more than product based one. In other words, it would be more effective to promote products based on experience (travel, events, etc.) through advertising with nostalgic effects.

        Energy storage and generation through desalination using flow-electrodes capacitive deionization

        Flow electrodes-based capacitive deionization (FCDI) is a highly energy-efficient desalination processcompared to conventional processes, including reverse osmosis and multi-stageflash distillation. Furthermore, it provides a continuous desalinationflow with high salt-removal capacity, whereas CDIusingfixed electrodes requires additional electrode rinsing. In FCDI, salt ions are adsorbed ontoflowcarbon electrodes and stored in the electrode slurry container, which is similar to an electrochemicalflowcapacitor. Therefore, stored ions can generate energy during discharging in FCDI operation. In this study,such energy generation was systematically investigated in terms of the various discharging rates, feedconcentrations, and volume offlow-electrode slurry. We found that the results were correlated with thechanges in the salt concentration of the effluentflow. The discharging current of 50 mA showed thehighest capacity for energy generation out of all the experimental conditions; it recovered around 25% ofthe energy consumed during FCDI desalination. We believe that such energy recovery can greatly reducethe energy consumption needed for FCDI desalination. Such recycling of generated energy would makeFCDI more attractive than other conventional desalination techniques.

        <P>3D-memory is one of promising applications in 3D-IC technology. With a 3D integration technology, the effective density of memories can increase and the interconnect distance from processor to memory can be shortened. Due to its stacked structure, the upper dies behave as shields blocking outer particles from reaching lower dies, and it makes error rate of the top layer largest among all layers. From a heat perspective, the lower dies would suffer from reliability problems since the lower dies are placed on top of logic die. The heat dissipation can more influence lower dies than upper dies. This creates unequal a reliability distribution for each layer in 3D-memories. A novel ECC organization scheme for 3D-memory to secure reliable operations under soft error rate (SER) profiles is introduced in this paper. The proposed scheme does not require additional redundant arrays. Instead, it utilizes unused spare columns of relatively reliable layer memories to store additional check-bits of less reliable layer memories. It forms a heterogeneous ECC organization across different layers which enhances ECC capabilities in less reliable layers. In addition, redundancy sharing scheme for yield enhancement can be implemented with the proposed scheme. Experimental results show that a memory with the proposed method can tolerate more than three times of a bit-error rate compared to the conventional memory.</P>

        Overexpression of metastasis-associated protein 2 is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma size and differentiation

        <P>Abstract</P><P>Background and Aim: </P><P>Metastasis is a multistep event in which neoplastic cells detach from the tumor, migrate, disseminate, extravasate, and eventually proliferate at the secondary distant sites. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by hypervascularity and frequent metastasis. Recently, metastasis-associated proteins were identified and named metastatic tumor antigens (MTA) 1, 2, and 3. They have been found to be contained in the nucleosome remodeling and histone deacetylase complex. MTA2 has been reported to interact with p53 and inhibit p53-mediated cell growth arrest and apoptosis by deacetylation. Although it has been reported that the expression of MTA1 is related to tumor progression and metastasis, it is still unclear how MTA2 is involved in HCC. In this study, we found that the overexpression of MTA2 is associated with HCC size and differentiation after hepatectomy.</P><P>Methods: </P><P>The expression of MTA2 was examined in 506 human HCC samples that underwent hepatic resection using tissue microarray. The expression of MTA2 was classified into 0, 1, 2, and 3, based on immunoreactivity.</P><P>Results: </P><P>The expression of MTA2 was predominantly localized to the nucleus. MTA2 was detected in 487 (96.2%) of the 506 human HCC samples. Notably, the MTA2 expression level strongly increased depending on the size and differentiation of HCC.</P><P>Conclusions: </P><P>These findings indicate a tight correlation between the MTA2 expression level and HCC size and differentiation. Therefore, MTA2 might be a predictor of aggressive phenotypes and a possible target molecule for anticancer drug design in human HCC. </P>

        Group-synchronized polling algorithm in WDM-EPON

        <P>Wavelength division multiplexing-ethernet passive optical network (WDM-EPON) technology yields evolutionary advantages which enable next generation broadband access networks to overcome the bandwidth limit of EPON. To effectively share uplink resources of inter-optical network units (ONUs) in WDM-EPON, we propose a group-synchronized polling algorithm (GSPA). In GSPA, ONUs are partitioned into g (> 2) groups and each group fully uses one among m (ges 2) uplink wavelengths during a predetermined time T<SUB>Ref</SUB>. Since the starting times of groups are inter-weaved with different wavelengths to enable groups to transmit frames to an optical line terminator (OLT), the GSPA can perform dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) in parallel without wasting uplink resources. Comprehensive simulation results show that GSPA yields better performance compared with both the existing offline and on-the-fly algorithms.</P>

        The Effect of Commitment on the Relationship between Satisfaction and Revisit Intention for Two Types of Online Shopping Malls

        본 연구에서는 온라인 쇼핑몰을 전문몰(specialty shopping mall)과 종합몰(integrated shopping mall)로 구 분하여 각 쇼핑몰이 추구하는 몰입이 무엇인지, 각각의 몰입이 고객들의 온라인 쇼핑몰 재방문에 어떻 게 영향을 미치는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 지난 한해동안 온라인 쇼핑몰을 경험했던 208명의 소비자를 대상으로 각각의 연구가설을 검증하였다. 결과와 관련하여 본 연구에서는 서로 다른 온라인 쇼핑몰에 대한 재방문 믜사결정에 각각의 몰입이 다른 효과가 있다는 것을 밝혀냈다. 만족과 몰입간의 관계에서 전문몰과 종합몰 모두 만족도가 몰입에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만, 몰입과 재구매 의 향간의 관계에서는 다른 효과가 나타나는 것으로 확인되었다. 종합물의 경우 정서적 몰입, 계산적 몰 입 모두 재방문의사에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었지만, 전문몰의 경우 손익 계산에 초점 을 둔 계산적 몰입의 경우 재방문의사에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 발 견을 통해 이론적, 실무적 함의를 도출하였다. This study aims to find what the commitment is that each of two different forms of online shopping mall – the specialized shopping mall and the integrated shopping mall – pursues, and to recognize which commitments play a positive role in the intention to revisit by customers. We carried out hypothesis testing on 208 consumers who had used an online shopping mall in the past year. Regarding the results, we found that there were different effects of commitment type on the revisit intention for different online shopping malls. It was recognized that in the relationship between satisfaction and commitment, satisfaction from both the specialized shopping mall and the integrated shopping mall had a key effect on commitment. It was also identified that an increase in satisfaction from the use of an online shopping mall has a positive impact on both affective commitment and calculative commitment. Regarding the relationship between commitment and intention to revisit, it was identified that both affective commitment and calculative commitment have positive effects in increasing the intention to revisit in the case of the integrated shopping mall. However, in the case of the specialized shopping mall, it appears that there were no similar results for the intention to revisit caused by calculative commitments that weigh the calculation of gains and losses. On the basis of these findings, we have drawn a theoretical and practical implication.

        Femtocell Subband Selection Method for Managing Cross- and Co-tier Interference in a Femtocell Overlaid Cellular Network

        The femtocell overlaid cellular network (FOCN) has been used to enhance the capacity of existing cellular systems. To obtain the desired system performance, both cross-tier interference and co-tier interference in an FOCN need to be managed. This paper proposes an interference management scheme that adaptively constructs a femtocell cluster, which is a group of femtocell base stations that share the same frequency band. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme can enhance the performance of the macrocell-tier and maintain a greater signal to interference-plus-noise ratio than the outage level can for about 99% of femtocell users.
