Fracture analysis of wild mammals in South Korea

This study was conducted to evaluate and analyze fractures types in wild mammals in Korea. Wild mammals treated at 3 wildlife centers in Korea were included. Of the 63 cases included in this study, water deer was the most common species encountered with fractures. We determined 85 different fracture sites, with maximum lumber vertebral fractures followed by femoral, tibial and pelvic fractures. External skeletal fixator (ESF)-intramedullary (IM) pin (IM+ESF tie-in fixation) was the most common method applied for the surgical treatment of mammals. Lumbar vertebrae and femur were the most common bones involved. The findings of this study are expected to provide information for veterinarians regarding the frequency and characteristics of fractures in wild mammals and serve as a basic database for the types and outcomes of fractures in wild mammals.

The longhorn beetle (Coleoptera: Cucujiformia: Chrysomeloidea: Cerambycidae) is one of the major family of coleoptera which contains more than 30,000 species worldwide. Because of their species-diversity, morphological attraction and ecological status, the family has received a massive global attention. However, in Korea, no thorough study on this family has been conducted within last twenty eight years. Here we update the latest knowledge of Korean longhorn beetle fauna. First, we give an historical overview of the longhorn beetle studies in Korea and correct some common species misidentifications. Then we provide the information of updated cerambycidae fauna with 4 new species and 9 species newly reported to Korea. Lastly, we discuss the importance of studying immature stage of cerambycidae and provide brief morphological, ecological information of two recently described species.
Association Between Sleep Quality and Anxiety in Korean Adolescents

Objectives: Anxiety disorder is among the most prevalent mental illnesses among adolescents. Early detection and proper treatment are important for preventing sequelae such as suicide and substance use disorder. Studies have suggested that sleep duration is associated with anxiety disorder in adolescents. In the present study, we investigated the association between sleep quality and anxiety in a nationally representative sample of Korean adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the 2020 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. The Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 questionnaire was used to evaluate anxiety. The chi-square test was used to investigate and compare the general characteristics of the study population, and multiple logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between sleep quality and anxiety. Results: In both sexes, anxiety was highly prevalent in participants with poor sleep quality (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.56; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.43 to 1.71 in boys; aOR, 1.30; 95% CI, 1.19 to 1.42 in girls). Regardless of sleep duration, participants with poor sleep quality showed a high aOR for anxiety. Conclusions: This study identified a consistent relationship between sleep quality and anxiety in Korean adolescents regardless of sleep duration.
병렬 프로그램 개발 환경을 위한 HBCC 구조화 개선 및 구현

본 연구실에서는 HBCC 구조를 기본 구조로 하여 통신망상에서 소켓을 이용한 가상의 병렬 처리 시스템을 구현해왔다. 그간의 연구에서는 HBCC 토폴로지와 상호 연결특성을 연구하였고 본 논문에서는 구조화(Modulization) 측면을 개선하여 데몬 프로세스와 라이브러리를 별도로 갖추고 병렬 프로그램 라이브러리 인터페이스를 보완 개선하였다. 본 논문에서는 논리적인 토폴로지는 HBCC 구조를 따르고 물리적인 구성은 통신망에 연결된 각 노드들로 구성되며 프로토콜은 개선된 구조화 프로토콜을 사용하고 평가를 위해 Mandelbrot Fractal Program을 사용하였다.

<P>The polarity and threading dislocation dependence of the surface morphology of <I>c</I>-GaN films exposed to HCl vapor at temperatures of 750 and 810 °C was investigated. For N-polar GaN, some regions were severely etched in such a way that vertically-aligned nanopipes were formed while areas other than those occupied by the nanopipes were barely etched. A cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy analysis revealed that the bottom of the nanopipes was observed to be connected to threading dislocation(s) while no threading-dislocation was observed beneath the unetched surface of N-polar GaN. In comparison, the threading-dislocation-free region in Ga-polar GaN domains was heavily etched, and GaN nanoneedles were formed on a relatively flat surface at temperatures as low as 750 °C. In order to understand the etched surface morphology of Ga-polar GaN (nanoneedles on a relatively flat surface), we proposed a physical model to describe this etching behavior, and a computational simulation based on our proposed model could explain the etched surface morphology of a Ga-polar GaN film exposed to HCl vapor.</P>

최근에 초고속 통신망 기술의 급속한 발달과 관련한 주변기기의 가격하락으로 인하여 대규모의 분산 병렬 처리 시스템의 구성에 관한 연구와 개발이 널리 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 소켓을 이용하여 가상의 병렬처리 시스템을 구현함으로써 노드간의 메시지 전달로 인하여 발생한 많은 문제점을 해결함과 동시에 시스템의 이식, 호환에 관련한 문제점을 개선함으로써 기존의 시스템에 대한 확장이 용이하다. 본 논문에서의 논리적인 토폴로지는 HBCC 구조를 따르고 물리적인 구성은 통신망에 연결된 각각의 노드들로 구성되며 성능 측정 및 평가를 위해서 Mandelbrot fractal program을 데모 프로그램으로 하였다.

<P>Symmetry breaking of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) has profound effects on their optoelectronic properties that are essential for fundamental study and applications. Here, we show that isomeric SWNTs that exhibit identical photoluminescence (PL) undergo symmetry breaking by flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and exhibit dual PLs and different binding affinities (<I>K</I><SUB>a</SUB>). Increasing the FMN concentration leads to systematic PL shifts of SWNTs according to structural modality and handedness due to symmetry breaking. Density gradient ultracentrifugation using a FMN-SWNT dispersion displays PL shifts and different densities according to SWNT handedness. Using the optical titration method to determine the PL-based <I>K</I><SUB>a</SUB> of SWNTs against an achiral surfactant as a titrant, left- and right-handed SWNTs display two-step PL inflection corresponding to respective <I>K</I><SUB>a</SUB> values with FMN, which leads to the determination of the enantiomeric excess (ee) of the SWNT ensemble that was confirmed by circular dichroism measurement. Decreasing the FMN concentration for the SWNT dispersion leads to enantiomeric selection of SWNTs. The titration-based ee determination of the widely used sodium cholate-based SWNT dispersion was also demonstrated by using FMN as a cosurfactant.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

<P>During epitaxial lateral overgrowth, the lateral polarity inversion of <I>c</I>-GaN domains from Ga to N polarity, triggered at the boundary of an SiO2 mask pattern, resulted in inversion domain boundaries (IDBs) forming preferentially on the \{11{\overline 2}0\} plane, although the formation energy of IDBs on the \{1{\overline 1}00\} plane is known to be lower than that on the \{11{\overline 2}0\} plane. A model that takes a geometrical factor into consideration can explain this preferential tendency of IDB formation on the \{11{\overline 2}0\} plane, and computational simulations based on the proposed model are consistent with experimental results. In contrast with the vertically upright IDBs observed in N-to-Ga polarity inversion, vertically slanted IDBs were formed in some samples during the inversion from Ga to N polarity. These polarity inversions, which appeared to randomly occur on the mask pattern, turned out to be triggered at the mask pattern boundaries.</P>
