Ischemic stroke causes brain damage and neuronal cell death by depriving oxygen and nutrients and releasing excessive levels of glutamate and intracellular calcium. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a polyphenolic compound present in green tea. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. Hippocalcin is a calcium binding protein that regulates calcium concentration, neuronal differentiation, neuronal excitability, and neuronal cell death. In this study, we investigated whether EGCG regulates the expression of hippocalcin in neurons and astrocytes after focal cerebral ischemia. Cerebral ischemia was induced by meddle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). EGCG (50 mg/kg) or PBS was injected into the abdominal cavity just before MCAO surgery. Neurobehavioral tests were performed to evaluate the effect of EGCG on neurological behavioral deficits 24 h after MCAO surgery. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to evaluate the positive response to hippocalcin in the cerebral cortex after MCAO surgery. We also detected the positive reactions of neuronal nuclear protein (NeuN) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) as markers of neuron and astrocyte, respectively. MCAO caused severe neurological impairment and EGCG treatment attenuated these impairments. MCAO damage reduced the number of NeuN-positive cells and increased the number of GFAP-positive cells. This result indicates a decrease in neurons and an increase in astrocytes. However, EGCG alleviated these changes caused by MCAO damage. MCAO reduced the number of hippocalcin-positive cells in neurons and astrocytes, and EGCG treatment attenuated these reductions. Hippocalcin exerts neuroprotective effect through regulating intracellular calcium concentration. In conclusion, EGCG regulates the expression of hippocalcin in neurons and astrocytes and has neuroprotective effects in focal cerebral ischemia.

For producing wood plastic composites (WPCs) having lightweight and cost efficiency, a microcellular injection foaming process is applied in our present work. Two types of exothermic foaming agents (EFA) with different range of particle size are used for formation of microcellular structure in WPCs. This research examines effects of particle size and concentration of the exothermic foaming agents on mechanical and physical properties of WPCs. The average cell size in WPCs is decreased with increasing the content of exothermic foaming agents. The large foaming agent shows small cell size compared to the small foaming agent case. Cell population density of foamed WPCs increases with increasing the EFA content, but decreases with decreasing the size of EFA. Concerning density and void fraction of foamed WPCs, the density is reduced but the void fraction is increased with increasing the EFA concentration. For the flexural strength, increment of amount of EFA decreases the mechanical strength because of the increase of cell density and void fraction. Also, the smaller size foaming agent (an AC9000 case) increases more strength due to influence of EFA size.
무선 인터넷 기반의 효율적인 주차 관리 시스템의 설계 및 구현

최근 차량의 급증으로 인한 주차 관리가 많이 힘들어지고 있다. 특히 몇 년 사이 엄청난 차량증가로 인해 주차 시설 부족 및 관리원들의 단속을 피한 다양한 위법행위가 발생하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 변화에 따라 효율적인 주차 관리를 하기 위한 무선 단말기를 이용한 효과적인 주차 관리 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 이 시스템은 서버와 관리자, 무선 인터넷 단말기(PDA) 세 부분으로 구성되어 있으며, 주차 관리원들은 주차단속 및 차량관리 등을 무선 인터넷 단말기를 통해 서버에 접속하여 신속하게 서비스를 받을 수 있다. Recently, a parking administration are more difficult because the number of cars is rapidly increasing. In particular, the number of cars, grows rapidly for years, it has arisen that a variety of violation avoids the officers' observation and that a parking place is not enough. In this paper, we design and implement a parking administration system using wireless Internet in order to efficiently control parking and administration. The implemented parking administration system consists of a server and PDA clients. The officers in charge of parking managements can receive the services promptly.
