        Description and Application of a Marine Microalga Auxenochlorella protothecoides Isolated from Ulleung-do

        단세포 녹조류 균주를 경상북도 울릉군 울릉도 거북바위 주변 조수웅덩이로부터 순수분리하여 형태적, 분자적, 및 생화학적 특성을 분석한 결과 옥세노클로렐라 프로토테코이드에 속하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 종은 현재까지 한국에서 공식 기록이 없는 미기록종으로 옥세노클로렐라 프로토테코이드 MM0011 균주라고 명명하였으며, 생장, 지질/광합성 색소 조성 및 바이오매스 특성에 대해 조사를 실시하였다. 분리균주는 광범위한 온도(5-35°C)에서 생장할 수 있었으며 1.5 M 염화나트륨 농도까지 생존할 수 있었다. 가스크로마토그래프/질량분석기를 이용한 분석 결과, 본 균주에는 영양적으로 중요한 불포화지방산이 풍부한 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 리놀네산(27.6%) 및 알파 리놀렌산(37.2%)이 주요 지방산 성분으로 확인되었다. 따라서 본 토착 미세조류 균주는 어유 또는 식물성유를 대체할 수 있는 잠재적인 오메가-3 및 오메가-6 불포화지방산 원료가 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 또한, 고부가가치 항산화 물질인 루테인이 보조색소로서 본 균주에 의해 생합성 되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 일반성분분석 결과 MM0011 균주의 휘발성물질 함량은 85.6%였으며, 원소분석 결과 총 발열량은 20.3 MJ kg<SUP>-1</SUP>으로 나타났다. 또한 배지로부터 40.5%의 전질소와 27.9%의 전인을 각각 제거할 수 있어 향후 바이오연료 원료물질 생산과 오 · 폐수처리를 연계할 수 있는 가능성 역시 제시하였다. 추가적으로 MM0011 바이오매스는 높은 단백질 함량(51.4%)을 갖고 있어 우수한 동물사료의 원료가 될 수 있는 가능성도 보여주고 있다. 따라서, 본 균주는 미세조류 기반 생화학 물질 생산 및 바이오매스 원료로서 상업적인 이용 가능성이 높음을 시사한다. A unicellular green alga was axenically isolated from a tidal pool on Ulleung-do, Korea. Morphological, molecular, and biochemical analyses revealed that the isolate belonged to Auxenochlorella protothecoides. The current study is the first record of this species in Korea. The microalgal strain was named as A. protothecoides MM0011 and its growth, lipid and pigment compositions, and biomass properties were investigated. The strain is able to thrive in a wide range of temperatures (5~35°C) and to withstand up to 1.5 M NaCl. The results of GC/MS analysis showed that the isolate was rich in nutritionally important polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Its major fatty acids were linoleic acid (27.6%) and α -linolenic acid (39.6%). Thus, this indigenous microalga has potential as an alternative source of ω3 and ω6 PUFAs, which currently come from fish and plant oils. Also, the HPLC analysis revealed that the value-added antioxidant, lutein, was biosynthesized as the accessory pigments by the microalga. A proximate analysis showed that the volatile matter content was 85.6% and an ultimate analysis indicated that the gross calorific value was 20.3 MJ kg<SUP>-1</SUP>. Since 40.5% of total nitrogen and 27.9% of total phosphorus were removed from the medium, respectively, it also has potential as a feedstock for biofuel applications which could be coupled to wastewater treatment. In addition, the biomass may also serve as an excellent animal feed because of its high protein content (51.4%). Therefore, A. protothecoides MM0011 shows promise for application in production of microalgae-based biochemicals and as a biomass feedstock.

        <P>A UHF RFID reader front-end structure having wideband and stable transmit/receive isolation characteristic is proposed. The proposed structure consists of a wideband balanced coupler and 4-port feed antenna system. The wideband RFID reader front-end has a high isolation feature insensitive to load variations. The transmit/receive isolation characteristic is achieved for UHF RFID band (860–960 MHz).         <P>In this letter, a printable chipless tag with electromagnetic code using split ring resonators is proposed. A 4 b chipless tag that can be applied to paper/plastic-based items such as ID cards, tickets, banknotes and security documents is designed. The chipless tag generates distinct electromagnetic characteristics by various combinations of a split ring resonator. Furthermore, a reader system is proposed to digitize electromagnetic characteristics and convert chipless tag to electromagnetic code.</P>

        1-port Measurement Method of the Coupling Factor and Receiver <tex> $Q$</tex> for Spatial and State Freedom in Wireless Power Transfer Systems

        <P>For spatial and state freedom in wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, the coupling factor and receiver Q have been estimated, using a loop current flowing into the transmitting coil by 1-port measurement method. Since the power transfer efficiency is related to the coupling factor and the load impedance, it is required to estimate and analyze them. In strongly and loosely coupled regions, the proposed measurement method can evaluate the location and battery states of the receiver by tracking the operating frequency of the transmitter. Compared to the calculated results obtained by conventional 2-port measurements against the k between the transmitting and receiving coils and the receiver Q, the proposed 1-port estimation method for frequency-tuned WPT systems is relatively simple and efficient, and has been experimentally verified.</P>

        Under the Suryong dictatorship, by definition, there is no political completion for Suryong`s status. There are, however, horizontal competitions to expand power and interest carried out by major power organizations and elites. Apparently they are loyalty competition devoted to the Suryong. During the power succession, as the ruling coalition is reconstructed, they intensify themselves. Two features have been pronounced during the hereditary succession from Kim Jong-il to Kim Jong-un in regard to competition for power and interest among power organizations and elites: the one is the competition for regency, i.e. to advance oneself as the dominant force in the promotion of the power succession; the other is the competition for increasing share of power and interest by power organizations and elites. Jang Sung-taek has stood in the center of these two competitions and he was purge thereof.

        대장 선종 환자와 정상인에서 혈중 렙틴 농도와 대장 점막 렙틴 발현과의 상관관계

        Background/Aims: Obesity increases the risk of colorectal cancer and adenomatous polyp, and one of the underlying mechanisms of this increase is considered to be due to the growth promoting effects of adipokines, such as leptin. In order to investigatethis finding, leptin expression in the colonic tissue and blood leptin concentration of the colonic adenoma patients were compared to those of the control group. Methods: Colonic adenoma tissues were obtained by polypectomy (n=60). In these patients, normal colonic mucosa at remote areas from the polyp was also obtained and blood samples were collected as well. Age and sex matched control subjects were selected among those who showed normal colonic mucosa in health screening colonoscopy (n=60).Results: There was no significant difference in serum leptin concentration between the colonic adenoma patients and control subjects. Leptin expression was noted in 43.3% of the colonic adenomas, but only in 6.7% of normal colonic mucosa fromthe control subjects (p<0.01). There were ten cases of concurrent adenocarcinoma in situ in adenoma patients, eight cases of which expressed leptin (p=0.01). In adenoma group, leptin expression rate was significantly high in larger adenomas and in obese patients (p<0.05). However, there was no statistically significant relationship between leptin expression in colonicmucosa and serum leptin level. Conclusions: Leptin expression was more frequently observed in colonic adenomas, especially in larger adenomas associated with adenocarcinoma in situ, but blood leptin level was not related to tissue leptin expression. Leptin expression was more frequently observed in obese patients from the adenoma group. Therefore, leptin may play an important role in colonic tumori-genesis and progression, especially in obese patient. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2014;63:354-360)

        시간에 따라 변하는 수신단 부하 임피던스의 실시간 검출을 통한 무선 전력 전송시스템의 성능 개선

        본 논문에서는 무선 전력 전송 시스템에서 시간에 따라 변하는 반사 임피던스(reflected impedance)가 시스템에 주는 영향을 분석하고, 그 검출 방법을 제안하였다. 반사 임피던스는 송신기와 결합하는 수신기가 어떠한 특성을 가지는지를 나타내는 중요한 지표가 되며, 전송 효율에 큰 영향을 주게 된다. 반사 임피던스를 검출하기 위해서 주파수에 따른 송신기에 흐르는 전류의 변화를 분석하는 검출 방법을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제시한 설계 방법에 따라 LF 대역에서 동작하는 무선 송/수신시스템을 설계하고, 수신기의 반사 임피던스의 변화를 검출하였다. 측정 결과, 제안한 검출 방법이 반사 임피던스를 정확하게 측정할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 실제 배터리에 적용하여 absorption mode에서 시간에 따라 증가하는 부하 임피던스로 인한 효율 감소를 보정할 수 있음을 실험을 통해 검증하였다. 또한, 금속 인식 시스템도 구현하여 제안한 측정법의 유용성을 확인하였다. In this paper, an analysis of the effect of time-variant reflected impedance and its detection method on wireless power transfer(WPT) systems are presented. The reflected resistance at WPT systems is very important parameter as it indicates how well matched antenna is and will exhibit high efficiency. Proposed detection method is based on transmitter current variation analysis with respect to frequency sweep. Using the proposed design method, a wireless power transfer system operating at the frequency of 125 kHz, is design and detect reflected impedance variation. The proposed design method provides good agreements between measured and simulated results. Therefore, The proposed detecting method provides a nonintrusive method to detect harmful object in WPT system.

        Comparative Evaluation of Emergency Medical Service Trauma Patient Transportation Patterns Before and After Level 1 Regional Trauma Center Establishment: A Retrospective Single-Center Study

        Purpose: This study examined emergency medical service (EMS) transportation patterns for adult trauma patients before and after establishing a level 1 regional trauma center (RTC) and to evaluate the transportation approach after prehospital severity screening. Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of trauma patients aged ≥18 years admitted via EMS to the emergency department or a level 1 RTC, 1 year before to 3 years after RTC establishment. Patients with an Injury Severity Score (ISS) in the patient registration system were selected. Analyses were performed to determine transportation pattern changes by comparing patients pre- and post-RTC establishment and by yearly comparisons over the 4-year study period using the Mann-Whitney U test and chi-square test. Results: Overall, 3,587 patients were included. The mean ISS was higher in the post-RTC group (n=2,693; 10.63±8.90, median 9.00) than in the pre-RTC group (n=894; 9.44±8.20, median 8.00; p<0.001). The mean transportation distance (9.84±13.71, median 5.80 vs. 13.12±16.15 km, median 6.00; p<0.001) was longer in the post-RTC group than in the pre-RTC group. Furthermore, proportionally fewer patients were transported from an area in the same city as the RTC after establishment (86.1% vs. 78.3%; p<0.001). Yearly comparisons revealed a gradually increasing trend in the hospital death rate (p<sub>trend</sub>=0.031). Conclusions: After establishing a level 1 RTC, the EMS transportation of severe trauma patients increased gradually along with the long-distance transportation of minor trauma patients. Therefore, improved prehospital EMS trauma severity assessments and level 1 RTC involvement in patient classification in the prehospital phase are necessary.

      • Comparison of Single-Incision Robotic Cholecystectomy, Single- Incision Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and 3-Port Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy - Postoperative Pain, Cosmetic Outcome and Surgeon’s Workload

        Purpose: Robotic-associated minimally invasive surgery is a novel method for overcoming some limitations of laparoscopic surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes (postoperative pain, cosmesis, surgeon’s workload) of single-incision robotic cholecystectomy (SIRC) vs. single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy (SILC) vs. conventional three-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy (3PLC). Methods: 134 patients who underwent laparoscopic or robotic cholecystectomy at a single center during 2016~2017 were enrolled. Prospectively collected data included demographics, operative outcomes, questionnaire regarding pain and cosmesis, and NASA-Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) scores for surgeon’s workload. Results: 55 patients underwent SIRC, 29 SILC, and 50 3PLC during the same period. 3PLC patient group was older than the others (SIRC vs. SILC vs. 3PLC: 48.1 vs. 42.2 vs. 54.1 years, p<0.001). Operative time was shortest with 3PLC (44.1 vs. 38.8 vs. 25.4 min, p<0.001). Estimated blood loss, postoperative complications, and postoperative stay were similar among the groups. Pain control was lowest in the 3PLC group (98.2% vs. 100% vs. 84.0%, p=0.004), however, at 2 weeks postoperatively there were no differences among the groups (p=0.374). Cosmesis scores were also worst after 3PLC (17.5 vs. 18.4 vs. 13.3, p<0.001). NASA-TLX score was highest in the SILC group (21.9 vs. 44.3 vs. 25.2, p<0.001). Conclusion: Although SIRC and SILC take longer than 3PLC, they produce superior cosmetic outcomes. Compared with SILC, SIRC is more ergonomic, lowering the surgeon’s workload. Despite of higher cost, SIRC could be an alternative for treating gallbladder disease in selected patients.
