IPMSM Magnet Temperature Estimation by d-axis Flux Linkage

An Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine, IPMSM, has been widely used as a traction motor in automotive industries for last 10 years thanks to the high torque density and a wide operating speed range. The reliability and torque control accuracy strongly depend on a magnet temperature of IPMSM. D-axis flux had been generally exploited to estimate the magnet temperature, in conjunction with the information of the stator winding resistance, which varies according to its temperature. And in the conventional method, temperature sensors should be attached to the stator windings to decouple the stator temperature effect. In this paper by using the d-axis flux in specific currents, no temperature sensor is required to estimate the magnet temperature. Furthermore, the number of look up table can remarkably be reduced. The proposed method has been verified in the small-scaled experiment set. The performance of the method has been evaluated at various currents, speeds and the magnet temperatures from 3.9 ℃ to 80.7 ℃.
Harmonic Current Regulation of SMPMSM by Discrete-Time Current Controller Design

A discrete-time domain design of a harmonic current controller based on multi-reference-frame-control (MSRF) is proposed for the suppression of the torque ripple of surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SMPMSM). The design criteria for the open-loop transfer function are established by modeling the motor plant and proposed controller in the discrete-time domain, and the controller gains that satisfy these criteria are obtained using matrix calculations. The proposed controllers effectiveness is confirmed through experimental validation. The phase margin and bandwidth of the controller designed in the discrete-time domain have been noticeably enhanced compared to that designed in the analog domain.

In this paper, a sensorless control algorithm for an interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) using high-frequency (HF) voltage signal injection with square wave reference and virtual back electromotive force (BEMF) is proposed. This paper modifies the voltage model of IPMSM using virtual BEMF. Based on the modified voltage model, the proposed algorithm estimates the rotor position using virtual BEMF of fundamental frequency and HF. Using the proposed method, sensorless control in full speed range is possible with no conventional transition methods between zero/low speed and medium/high speed. The proposed algorithm is verified by simulation and experimental results with 1.7 kW IPMSM. The proposed method shows identical stable operation performance with the conventional transition method with a much simpler implementation.
On-line minimum loss control strategy of IPMSM in torque-controlled application

This study proposes an on-line minimum loss (ML) control strategy that considers the iron and copper losses of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor in torque-controlled applications. The proposed ML control strategy utilizes a constrained optimization problem to satisfy torque reference tracking and loss minimization. An equivalent iron loss resistance circuit is adopted for the loss minimization. To solve the optimization problem, the Lagrange multiplier method is applied through a numerical analysis algorithm. The resulting solution provides the optimal current reference for every sampling instant. The Lagrange multiplier method needs parameters such as magnetic flux linkages, dynamic inductances, and iron loss resistance. Fundamental magnetic flux linkages are estimated using a flux observer, and the dynamic inductances are estimated with high-frequency voltage signal injection. The proposed iron loss resistance estimator estimates the equivalent iron resistance without any preliminary experiments. DC input power is measured using a current sensor for the accurate on-line estimation of iron loss resistance. To analyze the effectiveness of ML control compared with conventional maximum torque per ampere control, finite element analysis is used. The feasibility of the proposed ML control strategy is verified through simulation and experiments.
Magnet Temperature Estimation of IPMSM by Using Reactive Energy

In this paper, a method to estimate the temperature of NdFeB magnet of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) is derived in medium and high speed operating condition, where the back EMF of the motor is high enough. To estimate the temperature of the magnet, a concept of reactive energy is newly brought out. By using this concept, no temperature sensors are required in neither rotor side nor stator side. Hence, the method is truly noninvasive. Furthermore, as the reactive energy itself is utilized to estimate the temperature, the sensitivity to the variation of the magnet temperature is enhanced compared to the conventional method. The proposed method has been verified in the small-scale experiment set. The performance of the method has been evaluated at various operating conditions of IPMSM.
범불안장애 환자와 일반인의 걱정 내용 및 심각도의 비교

Objective : Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common anxiety disorder characterized by excessive worries and anxiety symptoms. To distinguish between pathological and normal worries, this study compared the contents and severity of worries among patients with GAD with those of matched non-psychiatric control Methods : Thirty outpatients with GAD receiving treatment at the psychiatric department of Hanyang University Guri Hospital were recruited. As a matched control group, we selected 30 adults without psychiatric history who participated in the Anxiety Disorder Survey, during the Mental Health Exposition held in Seoul in April, 2014. Matched demographic data were age, sex, education, and household income. Self-questionnaires included demographic data, contents of worry (10 categories of worries and each severity), and the Pennsylvania State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ). Results : There was no statistical difference in the contents of worry between patient and control groups. However, the total PSWQ scores significantly higher in the GAD group. Conclusion : Our findings suggest that patients and non-patients worry about the similar contents and worries in GAD cannot be differentiated by what people worry about. Only the severity of worry was a distinguishable feature. Our finding supported inclusion of the diagnostic criterion of "excesslve wornes" in GAD.
MRFC를 이용한 IPM 모터 토크 맥동 최소화 제어법

Interior permanent-magnet (IPM) motor has been used as a traction motor because of high torque density and high efficiency. Maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control that minimizes the motor copper loss is widely applied. However, the conventional MTPA control generates torque ripple because of the motor spatial harmonics. The multi-reference frame control(MRFC) method has been previously studied to reduce torque ripple. However, due to parameter-based and analysis-based current command extraction, torque ripple improvement performance is reduced due to parameter estimation errors and analysis imperfection. Additionally, only the 6th torque ripple was improved. In this paper, a test-based MRFC method was developed, and high-order (12th/18th) torque ripple were improved. The proposed method is verified through computer simulations and experimental results with 45 kW IPM motor embedded in Santa Fe hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).
