In this work, a flexible thermoelectric generator (FTEG) using inorganic bulk materials has been applied to a human wrist and demonstrates that the body heat can be the potential power source to operate wearable applications. The generated output power from the FTEG was 5.17 μW/cm² while the subject was at rest condition. Attached fin type copper heatsink on the FTEG was designed, focusing on its appropriate practical dimension and enhancement of the heat dissipation performance. Also, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were carried out to optimize the wearable power generation of the FTEG. This analysis supports the experimental results and suggests the guideline for designing wearable thermoelectric energy harvesters. The developed body heat harvester based on thermoelectric generation could be used as a power source to operate wearable and/or implantable sensors.
