This study was conducted to determine if topical application of Moringa oleifera extracts and its bioconversion product fermented by Rhizopus oligosporus has therapeutic properties enhancement for treatment of atopic dermatitis. Rhizopus oligosporus (KCCM 11232P) was used to ferment Moringa leaves' extracts in this study. Comparison of organic acids and flavonols in Moringa simple extracts and their fermented product by HPLC analysis revealed that concentration of organic acids and flavonols of bioconversion product was lower than that of hot water extracts. The fermentation process is used as a nutrient for isolation of each component by microorganisms and growth of microorganisms. The results demonstrated that MF extracts effectively reduced clinical features based on macrography, scratching count, and severity scores, as well as model's serum IgE level, including histopathological analyses.

Background/Aims Globus is a foreign body sense in the throat without dysphagia, odynophagia, esophageal motility disorders, or gastroesophageal reflux. The etiology is unclear. Previous studies suggested that increased upper esophageal sphincter pressure, gastroesophageal reflux and hypertonicity of esophageal body were possible etiologies. This study was to quantify the upper esophageal sphincter (UES) pressure, contractile front velocity (CFV), proximal contractile integral (PCI), distal contractile integral (DCI) and transition zone (TZ) in patient with globus gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) without globus, and normal controls to suggest the correlation of specific high-resolution manometry (HRM) findings and globus. Methods Fifty-seven globus patients, 24 GERD patients and 7 normal controls were studied with HRM since 2009. We reviewed the reports, and selected 5 swallowing plots suitable for analysis in each report, analyzed each individual plot with ManoView. The 5 parameters from each plot in 57 globus patients were compared with that of 24 GERD patients and 7 normal controls. Results There was no significant difference in the UES pressure, CFV, PCI and DCI. TZ (using 30 mmHg isobaric contour) in globus showed significant difference compared with normal controls and GERD patients. The median values of TZ were 4.26 cm (interquartile range [IQR], 2.30-5.85) in globus patients, 5.91 cm (IQR, 3.97-7.62) in GERD patients and 2.26 cm (IQR, 1.22-2.92) in normal controls (P = 0.001). Conclusions HRM analysis suggested that UES pressure, CFV, PCI and DCI were not associated with globus. Instead increased length of TZ may be correlated with globus. Further study comparing HRM results in globus patients within larger population needs to confirm their correlation. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2013;19:473-478)

We grew self-assembled ZnO nanocrystals on metal Pt(111) substrates by using two RF sputtering methods, a one-sided magnetron sputtering system (OMS) and a faced magnetron sputtering system (FMS), in order to study the growth dynamics. The growth rate of the FMS was much higher than that of the OMS due to the additional magnetic field. As the deposition time increased, the density and size of the Volmer-Weber type self-assembled ZnO nanocrystals also increased; in addition, the Ostwald ripening effect was observed between the nearest neighbors in both the OMS and the FMS. We fitted the size distribution of ZnO nanocrystals to Lifshitz-Slyozov and Gaussian functions. Before the ZnO nanocrystals were in a coalescence process with neighboring crystallites, the size distribution was well-explained by the Gaussian function.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: We assessed the diagnostic performance of 2-phase 64-slice cardiac computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) for the detection of a cardiac source of embolism in stroke patients using transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) as the reference standard. METHODS: We selected 137 patients who had experienced a recent episode of stroke and had undergone both 2-phase 64-slice CCTA and TEE within a period of 5 days. A potential cardiac source of embolism detected at both CCTA and TEE was recorded, and echocardiographic findings were categorized into high- and medium-risk sources based on the TOAST (Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment) classification. RESULTS: Of 137 patients, 100 abnormal findings in 91 patients were found on TEE, and 46 patients had no abnormal finding on TEE. The overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of the 64-slice CCTA for detecting cardiac sources of embolism were 89% (95% CI, 82%, 95%), 100% (95% CI, 90%, 100%), 100% (95% CI, 95%, 100%), and 81% (95% CI, 70%, 92%), respectively. TEE detected a total of 47 high-risk sources of embolism, whereas CT detected 44 lesions. For medium-risk sources of cardiac embolic stroke, TEE detected a total of 53 abnormal findings, whereas CT detected 44 abnormal findings. Of 53 lesions, there were 8 false-negative results on CT (5 patent foramen ovale and 3 atrial septal aneurysm). CONCLUSIONS: Two-phase 64-slice CCTA is a noninvasive and useful modality for detecting high-risk cardiac sources of embolism in stroke patients.

In this paper, We discuss various types of sublattice of the lattice of intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups of a given group. We prove that a special class of intuitionistic fuzzy normal subgroups constitutes a modular sub lattice of the lattice of intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups. Moreover, we exhibit the relationship of the sublattices of the lattice of intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups.
Performance Evaluation of Seismic Isolation System by Installation Location in Lighthouse Structures
Hur, Moo-Won,Park, Tae-Won WILEY-INTERSCIENCE 2018 SHOCK AND VIBRATION Vol.2018 No.-

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the applicability of seismic isolation devices for marine accidents under seismic loads. The lighthouse structure is a very important facility when the ship approaches the port. However, it is necessary to reinforce the structure to protect it from earthquake. This study presents isolation technology as a method to enhance the seismic performance of lighthouse structures built before seismic design criteria were established. This paper analyzed improvement of seismic performance in three cases of seismic isolation by applying the proposed method of isolation technology. In Case 1, the entire lighthouse structure is isolated, and in Case 2, only the lighthouse lens, the most important component of the lighthouse structure, has been isolated to assure constructability and economy. In Case 3, isolation effect was analyzed by comparing Case 1 and Case 2 with lighthouse structures.
