In this study, I have attempted to present the teaching method of Chinese Language in the everyday environment, that would enable Korean university students to loam Chinese in a simple, direct, and accurate manner within the shortest possible time. The Korean people live in a culture greatly influenced by Chinese culture and Chinese language throughout its history and accordingly, they can team Chinese language much easier than those living in other parts of the world. Particularly, their ability to read Chinese is exceptionally good. Despite the fact that most Chinese words used in two countries are the same, some words are used differently creating confusion between the two. Accordingly, for the best results, the Chinese Language should be taught with the following points in mind. First, special emphasis should be given to Chinese characters that are used differently in each country even though they are written the same way. Therefore, comparative teaching is recommended Secondly, Chinese characters that have the same meanings but pronounced differently between the two should be taught in a comparative manner as well. Thirdly, those learning Chinese language should also team about Chinese culture for a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding. Lastly, many new words created everyday as China goes through a drastic social change after the opening of the country must be taught in the actually applied situations so that the students loaming these words can understand the changing Chinese society better. The teachers of Chinese Language should consider the above points or more effective teaching. It will also give students a better understanding of Chinese society and culture.

Previously, we have reported that substance P (SP) enhanced functional recovery from spinal cord injury (SCI) possibly by the anti-inflammatory modulation associated with the induction of M2-type macrophages at the injured lesion. In this study, we explored the cytokine expression profiles and apoptotic cell death in the lesion site of the SCI after an immediate intravenous injection of SP. SP injection increased the levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-6, and IL-10 at day 1 after the SCI approximately by 2-, 9-, and 10-folds when compared with the control SCI, respectively. On the basis of double immunofluorescence staining with IL-10 and CD11b, activated macrophages or microglia expressing IL-10 appeared in the margin of the lesion site at day 1 only after the SP injection. This SP-mediated alteration in the lesion microenvironment was shown to be associated with the lower cell death of neuronal cells at day 1 and oligodendrocytes at day 5 by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay, which was also accompanied by a decrease in caspase-3 activation. These findings suggest that SP may reduce the inflammation-induced secondary cell death, possibly through immune modulation at an early stage after the SCI.
Study on Scintillation Characteristics of BGSO Single Crystals

<P>This paper presents a report on the growth and scintillation characterization of Bi-4 (Ge1-xSix)(3)O-12 (BGSO) single crystals with x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.8, and 0.9. The scintillator is grown by using the Czochralski pulling method. By employing a suitable rotation and pulling rates, high quality BGSO single crystals have been grown. Photoluminescence and X-rays induced emission spectra show a broad emission band in the wavelength range from 350 to 700 nm. Light yield and decay time under gamma-ray excitation are studied for various values of x in BGSO. Light yield decreases with the increasing value of x. For all the grown samples, the decay time spectrum contained three components at room temperature. This report also includes the measurement of the temperature dependence of the scintillation light yield of BGSO crystal with x = 0.1. A change in the light yield is observed between 100 and 300 K. The light yield of BGSO at 100 K is observed eight times higher than that at 300 K.</P>
Does HBV Infection Increase Risk of Endometrial Carcinoma?

Objective: Connections between chronic inflammation and tumor development and progression are now generally accepted. Recent evidence indicates that hepatitis B is associated with several types of cancer, but whether endometrial carcinoma (EC) is included has not been reported. Methods: We analyzed HBV serum marker status in 398 patients with endometrial cancer, comparing them to 788 control women undergoing health examination. Results: The total prevalence of HBsAg tested positive in cancer group was significantly higher than the control group (12.8% vs 6.0%, P=0.001), while positive HBsAb was significantly lower (41.2% vs 68.5%, P=0.001). Hepatitis B carriers in endometrial cancer group were also more frequent than in the control group (9.3% vs 5.5%, P=0.013). Interestingly, in the endometrial cancer group, 147 cases were HBV serum marker negative, which was also higher than in the control group (36.9% vs 15.6%, P=0.001). Conclusion: There may be a correlation between HBV infection and endometrial carcinoma.

A new actinomycete strain NA4 was isolated from a deep-sea sediment collected from the South China Sea and showed promising antifungal activities against soilborne fungal pathogens. It was identified as Streptomyces cavourensis by morphological, physiological, and phylogenetic analyses based on its 16S rRNA gene sequence. The main antifungal components were isolated and identified from the fermentation culture as bafilomycins B1 and C1. These compounds exhibited significant antifungal activities and a broad antifungal spectrum. The results suggest that the Streptomyces cavourensis NA4 and bafilomycins B1 and C1 could be used as potential biocontrol agents for soilborne fungal diseases of plants.

A new ent-kaurane type diterpenoid glycoside, 17-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-16α-ent-kauran-19-oic acid (1), together with 17-hydroxy-16α-ent-kauran-19-oic acid (2), 16α,17-dihydroxyl-ent-kauran-19-oic acid (3), and 16α-hydroxy-17-acetoxy-ent- kauran-19-oic acid (4) were isolated from the aerial parts of Inula japonica Thunb. The structure of 1 was determined mainly by use of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic techniques including HSQC, 1H-1H COSY, HMBC, and NOESY. In addition, 4 exhibited significant inhibitory activity on NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells with IC50 value of 14.3 μg/mL.
Design of Smart Home Monitoring System Based on ARM and Power Line Carrier Communication

For the shortcoming of smart home monitoring system(SHMS), such as high spend of wiring, difficulty of maintenance, poor penetration using traditional communication etc.., designed a SHMS based on embedded system. By using LPC2000 series processor as a core, selecting power line carrier communication (PLCC) module for interior communication mode, GSM for remote communication mode, and then transplanting RTOS μC/OS-II, the system can monitor environment, security of home. The results indicate that SHMS has the advantages of convenient installation, low cost, easy to upgrade, can realize the local and remote control.

Wind cap partial blockages and agglomeration are two of the most common gas-solid flow faults that occur under the actual operations of circulating fluidized bed boilers. Using the method of measuring pressure fluctuations, for the characterization of fluid dynamics in fluidized beds, has a great advantage, due to its flexible adaptation to any operating conditions to monitor fluidization. This paper presents research into the use of measuring and analyzing pressure fluctuations in wind caps, for the analysis of the gas-solid fluidization characteristics in a fluidized bed with wind cap partial blockages or agglomeration fault. Partial blockages in a wind cap near feeding side and partial blockages in another wind cap near recycling side as well as agglomeration of different extents were simulated in a cold circulating fluidized bed. Pressure fluctuations in the inlets of several wind caps were measured at different primary air velocities under different fault conditions. They were then analyzed with the methods of statistical average, standard deviation, wavelet analysis and homogeneous index. Based on the calculated characteristic parameters, the effects of gas-solid flow faults on the gas-solid fluidization characteristics were analyzed. Results showed that variations of characteristic parameters of pressure fluctuations were related to variations of the gas-solid flow condition, which were caused by wind cap partial blockages or agglomerations. It is shown that the proposed method is practical.
