The subfamily Prostemmatinae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cimicomorpha: Nabidae) is known as one of the predatory groups in true bugs, containing 5 genera and approximately 33 species in the Palaearctic region. All Prostemmatinae are ground-inhabiting (in litter layer, under stones, etc.), whereas most Nabinae are herbicolous and arboricolous. In Nabidae, most species are predators on various stages of insects (e.g., aphids, leafhoppers and lepidopteran eggs and young caterpillars), but several genera within the subfamily Prostemmatinae (e.g., Prostemma, Alloeorhynchus and Pagasa) are specialized predators of true bugs, especially of the family Lygaeidae. In this study the subfamily Prostemmatinae is revised from Korea. Among the four species recognized in this study, one species is a new record to Korean fauna, and Alloeorhynchus sp. nov. is described from the Chungcheongnam-do Province, South Korea. The morphological information such as description and diagnoses, and biological information for each species are provided.

The species of the genus Elasmostethus Fieber, 1860, belonging to the family Acanthosomatidae, occurring in the KoreanPeninsula are reviewed. Through this study, six species are recognized; the occurrence of four previously recorded species,including E. brevis Lindberg, 1934, E. humeralis Jakovlev, 1883, E. interstinctus (Linnaeus, 1758), and E. nubilus (Dallas,1851) are confirmed; two species, E. rotundus Yamamoto, 2003, and E. yunnanus Hsiao & Liu, 1977, are recorded forthe first time from the Korean Peninsula. The record of E. kansuensis Hsiao & Liu, 1977, is based on misidentificationof E. yunnanus. Therefore E. kansuensis is deleted from the Korean fauna. Photographs of habitus and genital segmentsof the two newly recorded species are included, and diagnoses and a key to the Korean species are provided.

The plant bug, Nesidiocoris tenuis (Reuter, 1895), is used as a biological control agent on various crops such as tomato and paprika. In this study, the egg and all the nymphal stages of N. tenuis are described and illustrated for the first time based on morphological characters. The main morphological characters of each instar are as follows: body shape, body size, development of wing pads, density of pubescent covered with abdomen, and colorations of antenna and legs, etc. Additionally, biological information such as feeding habits and mating are also provided with life cycle photographs.

Among them, 10 genera and approximately 130 species are distributed in the Palaearctic region. Most Nabidae are predators on various stages of insects (e.g., aphids, leafhoppers and lepidopteran eggs and young caterpillars), but several genera within the subfamily Prostemmatinae (e.g., Prostemma, Alloeorhynchus and Pagasa) are specialized predators of true bugs, especially of the family Lygaeidae. In this talk the family Nabidae is reviewed from Korea including two unrecorded species and one new species. <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We reviewed the Korean species belonging to the tribe Physorhinini of the subfamily Elaterinae. <I>Anchastelater shaanxiensis</I> Schimmel, 2007 is recorded for the first time in Korea. We provide diagnosis criteria for the species of the tribe Physorhinini and of the genus <I>Anchastelater</I>, as well as a description, and illustrations of the female <I>A. shaanxiensis</I>. The first Korean record of Physorhinini based on the male <I>Anchastus aquilis</I>[!] Candèze, 1873 was found to be a misidentification of <I>Neopsephus</I> sp. in the tribe Dicrepidiini and it is therefore proposed to exclude from the Korean fauna.</P>

<P>DNA barcoding is a useful molecular method for identification of certain animal groups. It uses partial DNA sequences of mitochondrial genes such as the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene. In this study, effectiveness of the COI barcoding as an identification tool for Nesidiocoris tenuis, which is used as a biological control agent, and for its allied species, was evaluated. All the species used in this study had a distinct COI barcode sequence, and the Neighbor Joining (NJ) tree based on COI sequences almost matched the morphological classification for most genera investigated in this study, except for the genus Cyrtopeltis. The average interspecific genetic distance between N. tenuis and its allied species was 111 times higher than the average intraspecific genetic distance. The tree showed shallow intraspecific divergences and deep interspecific divergences. Therefore, our results suggested that COI barcode for N. tenuis and its allied species can be used as an effective identification tool by entomologists, quarantine experts and other related researchers, and can provide directions to taxonomists for further taxonomic studies.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P> <I>Paradasynus spinosus</I> Hsiao, 1963 (Hemiptera:Coreidae:Dasynini), with its higher taxon, the tribe Dasynini, and the genus <I>Paradasynus</I>, is reported from the Korean Peninsula for the first time. The morphological information such as diagnosis and description of male/female genitalia and biological note are presented with photographs and illustrations, and the possibility of its spread in Korea as an insect pest is discussed under climate change.</P>

한반도 주둥이노린재과의 미기록속 Eocanthecona 속을 처음으로 확인하고 Eocanthecona japanicola (Esaki & Ishihara, 1950)의 한반도 분포를 보고한다. 성충표본과 생식기 사진 등의 형태학적 정보 및 생태학적 정보가 함께 제공된다. A genus, Eocanthecona Bergroth (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae: Asopinae), is reported from the Korean Peninsula for the first time based on the species of Eocanthecona japanicola (Esaki & Ishihara, 1950). The morphological information such as description and diagnosis, and biological information are provided.
