The dynamic fatigue-life equation is applied to the uniaxial tensile test. On this study, we show that the fatigue limit values can be extracted from the tensile testing data. Consequently, those experi-ments can be correlated and the fatigue limit can be found by the tensile test. The theory is verified by comparing the theoretical fatigue limit from tensile test to experimental fatigue limit from fatigue test. The results can be used to find the reliable fatigue limit by tensile test.

From 1988 to 1998, the authors experienced 5 cases of hypertelorism and have settled some principles of surgical correction. Our surgical principles are as follows; First, the surgical approach method is determined by severity of the deformity. The severity is classified as mild, moderate and severe cases according to the deviation from age and gender matched Korean standards obtained from axial CT scan. We performed soft tissue surgery, subcranial approach, and intracranial approach for mild, moderate and severe cases, respectively. Second, medial wall osteotomy is appropriate for the interorbital hypertelorism, which means increased interorbital distance(IOD) with normal lateral orbital distance(LOD). The technical details of the operation are as follows; First, for medial orbital osteotomy, paramedian resection is applied to Munro type A, B medial orbital deformities. Second, for lateral orbital osteotomy, sagittla splitting of the lateral orbital wall and anterior transposition of the temporalis muscle is performed to prevent temporal hollowing (hour glass deformity). Third, to eliminate the nasofrontal communication and resultant ascending infection, we applied a modification of four layer sealing technique' originally developed by the authors. One of the most difficult problems in correction of the orbital hypertelorism is the excessive skin of nasal dorsum after medialization of the orbit. To address this problem, we only augmented the nasal dorsum and glabella by onlay bone graft and did not excise the excessive skin. We expect that redraping of widely undermined skin over the augmented nasal skeleton, redistribution of the elastic skin of children, and later growth of the nasal skeleton will allow the excessive skin of nasal dorsum to be corrected without excision and extemal midline scarring. At least, small amount of skin excision at medial canthal area will be able to resolve the skin excess at the time of secondary medial canthopexy. We expect that secondary medial canthopexy - which is usually required due to postoperative medial canthal drift-and correction of the enophthalmos can be done through trimming of the excessive skin at medial canthal area, hopefully after 12 years of age. (after the growth of nasal skeleton).

Fine needle aspiration(FNA) cytology is considered as the diagnostic technique of choice in the assessment of swellen lymph nodes. The aim of this study is to determine the indication and diagnostic method of FNA of lymph node lesions performed at Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. The records of 16 patients which had undergone FNA during the study period were retrieved. The cytological results were classified as lymphadenitis, lymphoid hyperplasia and lymphoma. Lymphoma cases were classified as B-cell origin and T-cell by immunophenotyping. The result of the FNA cytological diagnosis showed that nine (56%) of the patients were lymphoma, five (31%) of the patients were lymphoid hyperplasia and two (13%) of the patients were lymphadenitis.
김치용 간절임 배추의 저장에 관한 연구 : Ⅱ. 젖산, Calcium Chloride, 저장온도가 저장중 간절임 배추의 품질에 미치는 영향

배추를 다듬기 하는데 발생한 폐기량은 7.5∼14% (w/w)이었고 10±2℃에서 30일간 방치한 경우 약 17∼25% 발생하였다. 간절임 배추의 pH값은 저장온도가 낮을수록, 염도가 높을수록 높았으나 calcium chloride 첨가가 절임배추의 pH값의 변화에는 영향을 주지 않았다. 유리당의 함량변화는 최소 약 4% 수준에서 산의 함량과는 반비례적으로 변화하여 저장 90일에는 소금농도가 낮고 저장온도가 높은 경우 적게 감소되었다. 균수변화에서 세균과 효모는 전 기간을 통해 증가한 반면, 곰팡이는 감소하였다. 한편 산의 첨가와 CaCl? 첨가시 소금으로만 절인 경우보다 세균과 효모는 낮은 속도로 증가했다. 저장중 경도는 온도가 낮고 염도가 높으며 젖산을 첨가한 경우 다소 높게 유지됐고, CaCl? 첨가의 경우 잎과 줄기에서 월등히 높았다. 휘발산과 불휘발산의 함량변화에서 온도가 낮고 염도가 높은경우 불휘발산의 함량이 낮았는데 특히 젖산 첨가시 불휘발산의 증가를 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. flavor score 는 저온과 고염도 젖산첨가시 유리하였다. This study was to investigate the effects of storage temperature, lactic acid and calcium chloride addition about the pH values, sugar content, firmness, volatile and nonvolatile acidity, microbial counts and flavor of the salted chinese cabbages during storage (90 days), and trim loss of chinese cabbages during the trimming of raw and storaged (30 days) chinese cabbages. The waste rate was in the course of trimming of raw chinese, cabbages was 7.5-14(w/w). The proportion of trim loss was highly correlated to sunshine duration, temperature, humidity and handling for the storage. Free sugar was decreased fast and much in the case of high temperature and low level sodium chloride in comp rison of low temperature and high sodium chloride, but ?? and lactic acid did not affect its changes. Time to reach the lowest pH values were fast in the case of high temperature and low salt content. Lactic acid affected inital pH value (4.38-4.57) and constant pH value in each case was increased at low salt content, at high temperature, and then the pH values were slowly increased when volatile acidity was increased. Firmness was high in the case of addition of lactic acid and calcium chloride, low temperature, high sodium chloride concentration. Especially, calcium chloride addition remarkably showed high firmness. Flavor score was high in the case of low storage temperature, high yeast counts were slowly increased in spite of low temperature and high salt content, but mold counts were slightly increased during all period Lactic acid, low temperature and high sodium chloride were effective to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Volatile and nonvolatile acidity was increased during all storage period ; however, lactic acid and low temperature storage inhibited their increase. To conclude, quality of salted chinese cabbages was effective at low temperature storage, lactic acid and calcium chloride addition, and high salt concentration.
항생제 다제내성균 Staphylococcus aureus SA2로부터 분리한 테트라사이클린 내성 플라스미드 pKH6의 염기서열

한국에서 임산균주로부터 분리한 테트라사이클린(Tc) 내성 플라스미드 pKH6의 전체 염기서열을 결정하여 가장 대표적인 Tc 내성 플라스미드인 pT181과 비교하였다. pKH6의 전체 길이는 4439bp로 pT181과 동일하게 나타났으며 염기서열은 7개의 염기에서 차이를 보였다. 전부 다 염기쌍이 치환된 형태로 나타났으며 그 중 3개는 coding 부위에서 일어났다. coding 부위에서 일어난 경우에도 1개는 동일한 아미노산을 coding 하였기 때문에 pT181과 차이가 없었으며 RepC와 Pre 단백질에 있어 각각 1개의 아미노산에서 차이를 나타내었다. The complete nucleotide sequence of pKH6, a tetracycline-resistance (Tc^r) plasmid isolated from multi-drug resistant Staphlococcus aureus SA2, has been determined and compared with that of the staphylococcal Tc^r plasmid pT181. The nucleotide sequences of the two plasmids are in agreement except for 7 nucleotides. All differences are caused by base pair substitutions. Among 6 substitutions, 3 occurred in coding regions. However, only tow base substitutions in coding regions resulted in changes of amino acid sequences in two different ORFs of repC and Pre proteins.
