Customer information is critical for hospitality and tourism companies to provide tailored service, but customers may be reluctant to disclose their personal information to the companies. Existing research finds that perceived control is positively related to willingness to disclose, but scant research studies scrutinize its sub-concepts and their relationship with information disclosure. This study decomposed perceived control with perceived cognitive and decisional control and examined their effect on willingness to disclose personal information. The results indicated that when a privacy mechanism was available, perceived cognitive control was more influential to customers’ willingness to disclose than perceived decisional control was. Findings suggest that hospitality and tourism companies that want to collect more customer data need to manipulate customers’ perceived control accordingly regardless of availability of privacy protection mechanisms. Since there have been very limited, if any, prior studies examining perceived control with decomposed cognitive and decisional controls, the model verified in this study serves as a guide for future research.

<P>An inverse agonist of estrogen-related receptor-γ (ERRγ), an orphan nuclear receptor encoded by E<I>srrg</I>, enhances sodium iodide symporter-mediated radioiodine uptake in anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) cells, thereby facilitating responsiveness to radioiodine therapy in vitro. We synthesized potent, selective, and orally bioavailable ERRγ-inverse agonists and evaluated their activity by analyzing in vitro pharmacology and absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity profiles. X-ray crystallographic analysis of the ligand and ERRγ complex showed that <B>35</B> completely binds to the target protein (PDB 6A6K). Our results showed improved radioiodine avidity in ATC cells through compound <B>35</B>-mediated upregulation of iodide-handling genes, leading to enhanced responsiveness to radioiodine therapy in vitro. Importantly, in vivo <SUP>124</SUP>I-positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging revealed that <B>35</B> increases radioiodine avidity in CAL62 tumors. Collectively, these results demonstrated that <B>35</B> can be developed as a promising treatment for ERRγ-related cancer in the future.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
DEVELOPING A DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR DESIGNING DISTRIBUTED DATABASES ON A LOCAL AREA NETWORK

This paper proposes a design methodology for distributed databases connected by a LAN. Two primary objectives of the methodology are (ⅰ) to allocate data files and workload among heterogeneous servers and (ⅱ) to determine the number of servers to satisfy the response time required for processing each transaction. The file and workload allocation decision is formulated as a nonlinear zero-one integer programming problem. This problem is proven to be NP-complete. A heuristic is developed to solve this problem cffectively. A decision support system is implemented and an example is solved to illustrate the practical usefulness of the system.

<P>The convergence of automobiles and ICT (information and communication technology) has become a new paradigm for the development of next-generation vehicles. In particular, connected cars represent the most in-demand automobile-ICT convergence technology. With the development of 5G technology, communication between vehicle and external device using autonomous driving and Internet of things (IoT) technology has been remarkably developed. Control of vehicles using smart phones has become a routine feature, and over 200 Android apps are in use. However, Android apps are easy to tamper by repackaging and allowing hackers to attack vehicles with using this vulnerability, which can lead to life-critical accidents. In this study, we analyze the vulnerabilities of connected car environments when connecting with IoT technologies and demonstrate the possibility of cyberattack by performing attack experiments using real cars and repackaging for commercial apps. Furthermore, we propose a realistic security technology as a countermeasure to attain safety against cyberattacks. To evaluate the safety of the proposed method, a security module is developed and a performance evaluation is conducted on an actual vehicle.</P>

<P>The complex formation between transcription factors (TFs) and coactivator proteins is required for transcriptional activity, and thus disruption of aberrantly activated TF/coactivator interactions could be an attractive therapeutic strategy. However, modulation of such protein–protein interactions (PPIs) has proven challenging. Here we report a cell-permeable, proteolytically stable, stapled helical peptide directly targeting nuclear receptor coactivator 1 (NCOA1), a coactivator required for the transcriptional activity of signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6). We demonstrate that this stapled peptide disrupts the NCOA1/STAT6 complex, thereby repressing STAT6-mediated transcription. Furthermore, we solved the first crystal structure of a stapled peptide in complex with NCOA1. <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Objective</B></P> <P>The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic significance of the cervical tumor uptake of fluorine-18-labeled FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose) measured as the SUVmax (maximum standardized uptake value) by PET (Positron Emission Tomography) in patients with early cervical cancer treated with surgery±adjuvant therapy.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>Forty-four patients (FIGO clinical stage IB to IIA) with biopsy-proven cervical cancer underwent PET before surgery. The SUVmax of the primary cervical tumor mass was obtained and compared with pathological prognostic factors after the initial treatment. In addition, we investigated the recurrence pattern according to the SUVmax and analyzed independent risk factors associated with the recurrence of disease.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>According to the tumor stage, the mean SUVmax significantly differed among groups (<I>P</I> =0.013). The SUVmax was significantly higher in patients with deep stromal invasion (≥1 cm, <I>P</I> =0.0208), LVSI (lymph-vascular space invasion) (<I>P</I> =0.0429) and a pathologically confirmed large tumor size of more than 4 cm (<I>P</I> =0.0074) when compared to controls. Patients with a high SUVmax (≥13.4) had a significantly reduced disease-free survival rate compared to patients with a low SUVmax (<I>P</I> =0.021). In addition, the SUVmax (≥13.4) was a significant independent predictor of recurrence of cervical cancer after treatment with surgery (±adjuvant therapy) (<I>P</I> =0.0207).</P> <P><B>Conclusion</B></P> <P>Patients with early cervical cancer showing a high SUVmax (≥13.4) of the cervical tumor should be considered at increased risk for disease recurrence after surgery and may need more aggressive multimodal treatment.</P>
