Lee, Young-June,Masami Hayashi Korean Society of Applied Entomology 2004 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.7 No.1
As the third part of the taxonomic review of Cicadidae (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha) from Taiwan, 18 species belonging to six genera in cicadine tribes, Dundubiini (two other genera of Cicadina) and Moganiini, and a tibicinine tribe, Huechysini, are treated in this paper. A new genus, Formocicada Lee and Hayashi, and two new species, Tanna infuscata Lee and Hayashi and Formocicada taiwana Lee and Hayashi, are described. Four species are synonymized: Tanna taikosana Kato, 1925 and Tanna horiensis Kato, 1926 with Tanna taipinensis (Matsumura, 1907), and Tanna horishana Kato, 1925 and Tanna tarowanensis (Matsumura, 1927) with Tanna viridis Kato, 1925. Cryptotympana facialis (Walker, 1858), Cosmopsaltria doryca (Boisduval, 1835), and Leptopsaltria tuberosa (Signoret, 1847) are newly considered as species erroneously recorded from Taiwan. Informations on the biology and male chirpings are also provided.
Landscape Management and Educational Programs for Citizens
Hayashi, Mayumi The Korean Institute of Landscape Architecture 2001 Journal of the Korean institute of landscape archi Vol.1 No.-
Regional development and community design has become very important these days. Especially in Hyogo Prefecture after the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, voluntary works have become more popular. With citizen participation, environmental circumstances change a lot. It is becoming very difficult for municipal governments alone to achieve every desirable project. NPOs made of professional members in the Hanshin area have conducted notable activities after the earthquake. At the same time it is necessary also to educate citizens for community design with greenery. These people will support their town design along with professionals. Awaji Landscape and Horticulture Planning Academy provides an excellent educational program, an introduction and examination of which should be valuable. The main concept of the education program is to foster the growth of local community design leaders. Students appreciated the programs very much even if initially they expected a more practical program about planting than programs that teach community design. Many people are active in their own towns to create better environments and communities. The network system "Alpha Green-Net" is functional to support graduates of the course. In the future these educational programs for citizens will becomes very important. Other cities are starting to have their own progrms, but they are still very short term. "Alpha Green-Net" is in the process of growing. Many members are very keen to develop their own abilities. In the future these NPOs should become independent. To help these NPOs become independent and active the educational programs should consider and teach about how to do this more in the future.
Guided Wave Calculation and Its Applications to NDE
Hayashi, Takahiro The Korean Society for Nondestructive Testing 2004 한국비파괴검사학회지 Vol.24 No.2
This paper describes the calculation technique for guided wave propagation with a semi-analytical finite element method (SAFEM) and shows some results of numerical calculation and guided wave simulation for plates, pipes and railway rails. The SAFEM calculation gives dispersion curves and wave structures for bar-like structures. Dispersion curve software for a pipe is introduced, and also dispersion corves for a rail are given and experimentally verified. The mode conversions in a plate with a defect and in a pipe with an elbow or a defect are shown as examples of our guided wave simulations.

The effect of porous matrix on thermal fatigue behavior of 3D-orthogonally woven SiC/SiC composite was evaluated in comparison with that having relatively dense matrix. The porous matrix yields open air passages through its thickness which can be utilized for transpiration cooling. On the other hand, the latter matrix is so dense that the air passages are sealed. A quantity of the matrix was varied by changing the number of repetition cycles of the polymer impregnation pyrolysis (PIP). Strength degradation of composites under thermal cycling conditions was evaluated by the $1200^{\circ}C$/RT thermal cycles with a combination of burner heating and air cooling for 200 cycles. It was found that the SiC/SiC composite with the porous matrix revealed little degradation in strength during the thermal cycles, while the other sample showed a 25% decrease in strength. Finally it was demonstrated that the porous structure in 3D-SiC/SiC composite improved the thermal fatigue durability.

High functional micro devices are demanded in a variety of fields. For realising such demands, development of high-precision micro-components installed in the devices are needed. To achieve high-precision in the mold processing of micro-components, the development of mold materials, i.e., the development of WC-Co hardmetal with higher hardness and fracture strength is essential, together with the developments of processing technology of high precision mold and mold-forming technology of high precision micro-components, etc. The role of development of the finer submicro-grained hardmetal in a NEDO national project aiming the integrated development of these all technologies and some results are mainly explained.
