The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Semen Cuscutae on phenylephrine(PE) and KCI induced contraction of isolated rat thoracic aorta. Contractile force was measured with force displacement transducer under 1.5 g loading tension. Contraction evoked by PE (ED_(50)) was relaxed significantly by Semen Cuscutae. The mean percent relaxing of PE induced contraction was 60.6% (p<0.01) after 300 ㎕/㎖ Semen Cuscutae, but the mean percent contraction of KCI induced contraction was 10.4% (p<0.05) after 300 ㎕/㎖ Semen Cuscutae. Vasorelaxation by Semen Cuscutae was significantly reduced after with and without endothelial cells. Pretreatment of aortic rings with L-NAME (100 μM), a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, indomethacin (3 μM), an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase, methylene blue (10 μM), guanylyl cyclase inhibitor, propranolol (1 μM), a β-adrenoceptor antagonist, atropine (1 μM), a muscarinic receptor antagonist and diltiazem (10 μM), a Ca^(2+)-channel blocker was recovered the effect aorta. These results indicate that Semen Cuscutae can relax EP induced contraction of isolated rat thoracic aorta and that this increasing contraction related to epithelium and various effect.

The reaction of 2, 6-dichoroquinoxaline with m-chloroperbenzoic acid gave 2, 6-dichloroquinoxaline 4-oxide, whose reaction with sodium azide provided 7-chlorotetrazolo[1, 5-a]quinoxaline 5-oxide and not the isomeric azide. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed on the basis of IR, ¹H-NMR, elemental analysis and mass spectral data.

“Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards” refer to regulations developed to monitor the systemic process and conditions under which tests are planned, executed, examined, recorded and reported at testing laboratories. Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) seeks after international harmonization on GLP management and relevant testing methods among its member countries. The analysis report on the current status of Korea’s non clinical pharmaceutical industry and training would be greatly helpful in understanding the GLP situation of Korea. Therefore, this paper has presented the result of analysis conducted on the testing and training situations of 16 GLP laboratories in Korea.
Farnesylcysteine Methyltransferase Activity and Ras Protein Expression in Human Stomach Tumor Tissue

The processing pathway of G-proteins and Ras family proteins includes the isoprenylation of the cysteine residue, followed by proteolysis of three terminal residues and .alpha.-carboxyl methyl esterification of the cysteine residue. Farnesylcysteine methyltransferase (FCMT) activity is responsible for the methylation reaction which play a role in the membrane attachment of a variety of cellular proteins. Four kinds of Ras protein (c-Ha-ras, c-N-Ras, c-Ki-Ras, pan-Ras) expression were detected in adenocarcinoma of human tissue by immunohistochemical method, and hematoxylin and eosin staining. The level of Ras protein in human stomach tumor tissues was much higher than in normal and peritumoral regions of the same biopsy samples. The FCMT activities of each cellular fractions were high in mitochondrial fraction followed by microsomal fraction, whole homogenate and cytosolic fraction. The inhibitory effect on FCMT activity on stomach tumor tissue was determined after treatment with 0.25 $\mu\textrm{M}$ of S-adenosyl-$_L$-homocysteine. S-adenosyl-$_L$-homocysteine inhibited FCMT activity from 11.2% to 30.5%. These results suggested that FCMT might be involved in Ras proteins activity.

A Low Dark Current CMOS Image Sensor Pixel with a Photodiode Structure Enclosed by P-well

A low dark current CMOS image sensor (CIS) pixel without any process modification is developed. Dark current is mainly generated at the interface region of shallow trench isolation (STI) structure. Proposed pixel reduces the dark current effectively by separating the STI region from the photodiode junction using simple layout modification. Test sensor array that has both proposed and conventional pixels is fabricated using 0.18 m CMOS process and the characteristics of the sensor are measured. The result shows that the dark current of the proposed pixel is 0.93fA/pixel that is two times lower than the conventional design.
