Research on mechanism of gas leakage in microchannels of steel containment vessels for nuclear power plants

        He Min,Chen Yueyao,Wu Zhen,Hou Gangling,Wang Jialong,Li Zhuangfei,Wang Yuzhu,Li Hanze 한국원자력학회 2024 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.56 No.8

Steel containment vessels for nuclear power plants can experience gas leakage due to minute defects such as cracks, corrosion, and aging, leading to gas leakage. A gas leakage model for microchannels is established to elucidate the mechanism underlying gas leakage within microchannels caused by these defects, specifically addressing the issue of unidirectional gas flow. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and the UK R6 method are employed to calculate the gas leakage rate within microchannels. Furthermore, the characteristics of gas flow within microchannels are explored, including the factors affecting the gas leakage rate. Validation of the calculation results is verified experimentally. The results indicate that the gas mass flow rate exhibits a linear decrease with decreasing internal pressure and a non-linear decline as temperature increases. Additionally, the gas mass flow rate demonstrates a negative correlation with the microchannel length but a positive association to its hydraulic diameter. The primary influencing factors on gas leakage rates are hierarchically ranked as follows: pressure difference, microchannel cross-sectional area, temperature, microchannel length, and microchannel hydraulic diameter.

        Sialadenoma papilliferum에 대한 사례보고와 문헌고찰

        김보현,HE YUZHU,SUN QIAOCHU,김병국,김옥수,김영,김옥준 대한구강악안면병리학회 2019 대한구강악안면병리학회지 Vol.43 No.4

Sialadenoma papilliferum (SP) is a rare tumor that develops from salivary glands. First described by Abrams and Finck, the tumor shows a papillary form. The most frequent location of this tumor is the palate. In this case, we report a 63 year old man with a lesion located at the right retromolar of the mandible which might have caused bone resorption. Among with this case report, this paper discuss the feature of this rare tumor. The cases were searched from the pubmed website (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/) using the keyword ‘sialadenoma papilliferum’. Out of total 65 cases 41 patients were male and 19 patients were female. 4 patients were under the age of 20, 4 patients were between 21 and 40, 25 patients were between 41 and 60, 23 patients were between 61 and 80 and 4 patients were over 81 years old. The number of patients with the size of the lesion less than 1cm were 23, 16 patients had the size of 1cm to 2cm and 8 patients lesion were larger than 2cm. 22 lesions were located at the hard palate, 2 were at the soft palate, 6 were at the junction of hard and soft palate, 8 were at the buccal mucosa, 1 was at the upper lip mucosa, 3 were at the retromolar pad, 2 were at the tongue, 4 were at the parotid gland, 2 were at the floor of mouth, 1 was at the faucial pillar, 3 were at the bronchus, 1 was at the esophagus, 2 were at the nasopharynx, 1 was at the nasal septum, 1 was at the lung, 1was at the nasal cavity. In this case the lesion was found at an unusual location and although SP is known to be a benign tumor it may present bone resorption and have malignant characteristics.

Vol.42 No.6

Extranodal intraoral Hodgkin lymphoma is not common. We report the case of a 78-year-old male patient with ulcer of the mandibular oral mucosa that was not cured for about 3 weeks. In biopsy and histopathologic examination, it was found to be extranodal intraoral Hodgkin lymphoma. Early diagnosis of oral lesions led to early detection of lesions of the opposite neck lymph node in an additional PET-CT scan We report this case and review relevant literature

Investigations on seismic performance of nuclear power plants equipped with an optimal BIS-TMDI considering FSI effects

        Zhang Shuaijun,Hou Gangling,Yang Chengyu,Yue Zhihua,Wang Yuzhu,He Min,Sun Lele,Cai Xuesong 한국원자력학회 2024 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.56 No.7

This paper introduces a base isolation system-tuned mass damper inerter (BIS-TMDI) hybrid system to the AP1000 nuclear power plant (NPP), which reduces seismic damage potential of the NPP structure. The effects of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) caused by the passive containment cooling system water storage tank (PCCWST) on NPP’s seismic performance are investigated. The FSI of water tank theoretical model is considered based on the Housner’s model, and a series of time history analyses are performed to prove the rationality of the proposed model. Three single-objective optimization strategies are employed to minimize the relative displacement variance and absolute acceleration variance of the upper structure, as well as the filtered energy index (FEI). Furthermore, a multi-objective optimization strategy considering all these three indexes is proposed to obtain optimal parameters of vibration control. The influence of vibration control strategies on the relative deformation and acceleration of the upper structure is explored with various water level ratios. The analytical results indicate that the proposed BIS-TMDI strategy has significantly reduced the NPP structure’s seismic response. The effectiveness of the vibration control strategy is influenced by the water level ratio, emphasizing the significance of designing an appropriate water level ratio to reduce NPP structure’s seismic response.

      • Development of Novel Photosensitizer Using the Buddleja officinalis Extract for Head and Neck Cancer

        Cho, Hyejoung,Zheng, Hui,Sun, Qiaochu,Shi, Shuhan,He, YuZhu,Ahn, Kyuhyeon,Kim, Byunggook,Kim, Hye-Eun,Kim, Okjoon Hindawi 2018 Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medic Vol.2018 No.-

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is generally safer and less invasive than conventional strategies for head and neck cancer treatment. However, currently available photosensitizers have low selectivity for tumor cells, and the burden and side effects are so great that research is needed to develop safe photosensitizers. In this study, it was confirmed that the Buddleja officinalis (BO) extract, used in the treatment of inflammation and vascular diseases, shows fluorescence when activated by LED light, and, based on this, we aimed to develop a new photosensitive agent suitable for PDT. MTT, Diff-Quick® staining, and DCF-DA were performed to measure the effects of treating head and neck cancer cells with BO extract and 625 nm LED light (BO-PDT). Cell cycle, TUNEL, and western blot assays, as well as acridine orange staining, were performed to explore the mechanism of BO-PDT-induced cell death. We found that when the BO extract was irradiated with 625 nm LED light, it showed sufficient fluorescence and stronger intracellular toxicity and ROS effect than the currently commercially available hematoporphyrin. BO-PDT resulted in a decrease of mTOR activity that was correlated with an increase in the levels of ATG5, beclin-1, and LC3-II, which interfere with the formation of autophagosomes. In addition, BO-PDT induced the activation of PARP and led to an increase in the expression of proapoptotic protein Bax and a decrease in the expression of the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2. Moreover, BO-PDT has been shown to induce the autophagy pathway 4 h after treatment, while apoptosis was induced 16 h after treatment. Finally, we confirmed that BO-PDT caused cell death of head and neck cancer cells via the intrinsic pathway. Therefore, we suggest that BO extract can be used as a new photosensitizer in PDT of head and neck cancer.
