        A Manufacturing/Remanufacturing System with the Consideration of Required Quality of End-of-used Products

        A manufacturing/remanufacturing system is investigated with the consideration of required minimum quality of end-of-used products. A constant demand is satisfied by remanufacturing end-of-used products and manufacturing raw materials outsourced from outside. It is assumed in this system that the buyback price and remanufacturing cost are related to the different quality level of end-of-used products. For remanufacturing, only the used products that satisfy a required minimum quality level will be recycled. Thus, the returning rate is a function of the required minimum quality level. Functions of returning rate, buyback price and remanufacturing cost, which are closely connected to the quality level of end-of-used products, are investigated here. Treating the required minimum quality level of end-of-used products, the length of a cycle, the number of manufacturing lots and remanufacturing lots in a cycle as decision variables, the mathematical models with the objective of minimizing the average total cost are constructed. Through construction of a solution process based on Tabu Search algorithm and calculating examples, the validity of the models is illustrated.

        Electroacupuncture-Modulated MiR106b-5p Expression Enhances Autophagy by Targeting Beclin-1 to Promote Motor Function Recovery After Spinal Cord Injury in Rats

        Objective: Electroacupuncture (EA) has a definite effect on the treatment of spinal cord injuries (SCIs), but its underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. Meanwhile, MiR-106b-5p is an autophagy- and apoptosis-related microribonucleic acid, but whether it regulates the progression of autophagy and apoptosis in SCIs is yet undetermined. As such, this study aimed to elucidate the involvement of miR-106b-5p in the EA treatment of an SCI. Methods: The miR-106b-5p level was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. In vitro, SH-SY5Y cells were transfected with miR-106b-5p mimics or inhibitors to regulate the miR-106b-5p expression, while in vivo, SCI rats were treated with EA for 7 days at the bilateral Zusanli (ST36) and Jiaji (EX-B2) acupoints. The motor function was evaluated using the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) criteria. Further, autophagic vacuoles, pathological damage, and neuronal cell morphology were observed by transmission electron microscopy, as well as by hematoxylin and eosin and Nissl staining, respectively. Results: The miR-106b-5p level, which can interact directly with Beclin-1 by influencing its expression, as well as the expressions of P62, Caspase-3, and Bax, was upregulated after an SCI, but it decreased after EA. Moreover, the ratio of LC3-II to LC3-I was upregulated after EA. EA can enhance autophagy, reduce neuronal apoptosis, and minimize motor dysfunction and histopathological deficits after an SCI. More importantly, however, all the above effects induced by EA can be reversed after an injection of miR-106-5p agomir to produce an overexpression of miR-106b-5p. Conclusion: EA treatment could downregulate miR-106b-5p to alleviate SCI-mediated injuries by promoting autophagy and inhibiting apoptosis.

        Finite-time Asymmetric Bipartite Consensus for Signed Networks of Dynamic Agents

        This paper addresses the finite-time asymmetric bipartite consensus problem for multi-agent systems(MAS) associated with signed graphs. Different from bipartite consensus in the previous literatures, asymmetricbipartite consensus means that the states of all agents will converge to two values with different signs and modulus. Two distinct nonlinear consensus control protocols are constructed for the considered system to achieve the finitetimeasymmetric bipartite consensus and the fixed-time asymmetric bipartite consensus, respectively. Under thefirst proposed protocol, it is shown that within a finite time, the considered system can realize asymmetric bipartiteconsensus. To strengthen the obtained result, the second protocol is proposed, which guarantees that all agentscould achieve the asymmetric bipartite consensus in fixed time, that is, the finite-time consensus can be reachedbefore a settling time which is irrelevant with the initial states of the agents. Finally, numerical simulations aregiven to verify effectiveness of the proposed consensus control protocols.

        A Novel Photonic Crystal Fiber Sensor with Three D-shaped Holes Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance

        A novel photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor with three D-shaped holes based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is analyzed in this paper. Three D-shaped holes are filled with the analyte, and the gold film is deposited on the side of three planes. The design of D-shaped holes with outward expansion can effectively solve the uniformity problem of metallized nano-coating, it is beneficial to the filling of the analyte and is convenient for real-time measurement of the analyte. Compared with the hexagonal lattice structure, the triangular arrangement of the clad air holes can significantly reduce the transmission loss of light and improve the sensitivity of the sensor. The influences of the air hole diameter, the distance between D-shaped holes and core, and the counterclockwise rotation angle of D-shaped holes on sensing performance are studied. The simulation results show that the wavelength sensitivity of the designed sensor can be as high as 10100 nm/RIU and the resolution can reach 9.9 × 10 -6 RIU.

        Analysis of a photonic crystal fiber sensor with reuleaux triangle

        The characteristics of a photonic crystal fiber sensor with reuleaux triangle are studied by using the finite element method. The wavelength sensitivity of the designed optical fiber sensor is related to the arc radius of the reuleaux triangle. Whether the core area is solid or liquid as well as the refractive index of the liquid core contributes to wavelength sensitivity. The simulation results show that larger arc radius leads to higher sensitivity. The sensitivity can be improved by introducing a liquid core, and higher wavelength sensitivity can be achieved with a lower refractive index liquid core. In addition, the specific channel plated with gold film is polished and then analyte is deposited on the film surface, in which case the position of the resonance peak is the same as that of the complete photonic crystal fiber with three analyte channels being filled with analyte. This means that filling process becomes convenient with equivalent performance of designed sensor. The maximum wavelength sensitivity of the sensor is 10200 nm/RIU and the resolution is 9.8 × 10 -6 RIU.

        Opportunities and Challenges of in vitro Synthetic Biosystem for Terpenoids Production

        Terpenoids are a large variety of natural products with remarkable diverse biological functions, and have a wide range of applications in flavors, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, pigments, and so on. However, limited production of terpenoids from natural resources constrains their use of bulk commodity products. In vivo synthetic biosystem, harnessing living organisms to produce terpenoids, has been broadly used and in-depth reviewed for terpenoids production, which has inherent weaknesses, such as slow reaction rate, low product yield, toxic intermediates, and high separation cost. In vitro synthetic biosystem, harboring numerous enzymes and/or coenzymes assembled into an in vitro enzymatic bioreactions, can obviate part of problems associated with in vivo style. In this review, the general design of in vitro synthetic biosystem is presented with seven supporting examples: mevalonate, isoprene, limonene, pinene, farnesene, amorpha-4,11-diene and taxadiene. The efforts for the large-scale implementation of in vitro synthetic biosystem have been addressed to enzymes engineering, computational modeling and cofactors recycle. The review also discusses the challenges and solutions for the largescale implementation of in vitro synthetic biosystem around enzymes stability and cofactors recycle. This review may suggest in vitro synthetic biosystems become a realistic option for the production of diverse valuable terpenoids, even expand to other commodity chemicals.
