本研究では妖怪に焦点を当て、海外の妖怪と日本の妖怪に対するアジア地域の外国人留学生がもつイメージの差異を明らかにすることを目的としている。日本在住の留学生を対象としたアンケート調査の考察の結果、以下の3点を明らかにした。 母国の妖怪に対するイメージについては、妖怪が登場する映画や、アニメ、ゲーム等のポップカルチャーの多様性が影響していること ② 日本の妖怪に対するイメージについては、母国にある昔話や文化、宗教、習慣によって妖怪に対するイメージがすでにできあがっており、イメージが大きく変容することはないこと ③ 国によって妖怪のイメージや情報の入手手段、市場規模に違いや多様性があること The purpose of this study is to focus on YOKAI and clarify the difference in the images of foreign students in Asia with respect to overseas YOKAI and Japanese YOKAI. We examined the questionnaire survey of international students living in Japan and clarified the following three points. (1) Regarding the image of YOKAI in your home country, the diversity of pop culture such as movies, anime, and games in which YOKAI appear has an influence. (2) Regarding the image of Japanese YOKAI, the image of YOKAI has already been created by the old stories, culture, religion, and customs in your home country, and the image will not change significantly. (3) There are differences and diversity in the image of YOKAI, the means of obtaining information, and the market size depending on the country.

Hyperextension injuries of the ankylosed thoracolumbar spine, particularly those with preexisting kyphotic deformity, present significant therapeutic challenges. The authors viewed that such injuries without displacement or fractures of the posterior elements are reasonable candidates for standalone percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP). In such cases, the posterior tension band is spared; thus, fractures are unstable not in the lateral direction, which would lead to the translation of the fracture, but in the vertical direction. Such vertical instability of the fracture can be stabilized if the open mouth-type vertebral cleft is adequately filled with a sufficiently large amount of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cement. Our three patients receiving standalone PVP received injections of 12 mL, 16.5 mL, and 18 mL of PMMA cement. This minimally invasive surgical procedure achieved both short-term (immediate pain relief and mobilization) and long-term (fracture healing) goals.

We consider facility layout problems, where mn facility units are assigned into mn cells. These cells are arranged into a rectangular pattern with m rows and n columns. In order to solve this cell type facility layout problem, many approximation algorithms with improved local search methods were studied because it was quite difficult to find exact optimum of such problem in case of large size problem. In this paper, new algorithms based on Simulated Annealing (SA) method with two neighborhood generation methods are proposed. The new neighborhood generation method adopts the exchanging operation of facility units in accordance with adjacent preference. For evaluating the performance of the neighborhood generation method, three algorithms, previous SA algorithm with random 2-opt neighborhood generation method, the SA-based algorithm with the new neighborhood generation method (SA1) and the SA-based algorithm with probabilistic selection of random 2-opt and the new neighborhood generation method (SA2), are developed and compared by experiment of solving same example problem. In case of numeric examples with problem type 1 (the optimum layout is given), SA1 algorithm could find excellent layout than other algorithms. However, in case of problem type 2 (random-prepared and optimum-unknown problem), SA2 was excellent more than other algorithms.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Natural compound esculentoside B (EsB), (2S,4aR,6aR,6aS,6bR,8aR,9R,10R,11S,12aR,14bS)-11-hydroxy-9-(hydroxymethyl)-2 methoxycarbonyl-2,6a,6b,9,12a-pentamethyl-10-[(2<I>S</I>,3<I>R</I>,4<I>S</I>,5<I>R</I>)-3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl]oxy-1,3,4,5,6,6a,7,8,8a,10,11,12,13,14b-tetradecahydropicene-4a-carboxylic acid with molecular weight of 664.833, isolated from roots of <I>Phytolacca acinosa</I> Roxb has been widely used as a constituent of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). However, the anti-inflammatory capacity of EsB has not been reported yet. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate anti-inflammatory activities of EsB in LPS-treated macrophage RAW 264.7 cells. EsB could inhibit nitric oxide (NO) production. EsB also suppressed gene and protein expression levels of inducible isoform of NO synthase (NOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, EsB decreased gene expression and protein secretion levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-6. EsB remarkably suppressed nuclear translocation of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) from cytosolic space. Phosphorylation of IκB was also inhibited by EsB. Moreover, EsB specifically down-regulated phospho-c-Jun N-terminal kinase (p-JNK), but not p-p38 or phospho-extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (p-ERK1/2). Taken together, these results suggest that EsB has inhibitory effect on inflammatory response by inactivating NF-κB and p-JNK. Magnetic Silicone Rubber: Fabrication and Analysis with Applications

In this research, we fabricated magnetic silicone rubbers (MSR) by using magnetic powders of Feor Sr ferrite ( 3 - 5 um) and investigated the physical properties of the MSR, such as the elasticand the magnetic characteristics. MSR is a new approach to flexible magnetic actuators. If theMSR is to be solidified, the mixing ratio between a silicone elastomer and the magnetic powdersis important. In addition, the ratio determines the magnetic properties in a magnetic field. If softmagnetic powders are used in the MSR, magnetic force control is possible. We applied MSR to anelectromagnetic linear actuator to verify the capability of MSR based on Fe or Sr ferrite materials. In the linear actuator for inchworm motion, MSR improved the magnetic force and the velocity. MSR can provide a simple mechanism for robotic applications and magnetic artificial muscles.

For this study, we focus on autonomous locomotion based on visual landmarks that recognizes surrounding environments based on saliency characteristics. This paper presents a feature extraction method combined with saliency maps (SMs), histograms of oriented gradients (HOG) features, and accelerated KAZE (AKAZE) descriptors to describe image features as visual landmarks without removing human regions as dynamic objects. As semantic scene recognition, we used a method combined with self-organizing maps (SOMs) based on bag of features for creating codebooks as visual words and counter propagation networks (CPNs) based on topological learning of neighborhood and competition for creating a category maps (CMs) that converts input features into a low dimensional space. We used a mobile robot for obtaining clockwise datasets (CWDs) and counter CW datasets (CCWDs). The experimental obtained results revealed that recognition accuracies (RAs) for CWDs and CCWDs, were, respectively 70.76% for 26 categories and 72.24% for 25 categories. Based on this result as an original ground truth (GT) pattern, we change label patterns (LPs) of five types according to mapping results on CMs for selection.

For reducing construction cost, two-plate-girder bridges are getting popular in Japan. This type of bridge employs a PC slab, which is often cast-in-place. In such a case, concrete is not usually cast over the whole slab at one time: some portions are constructed earlier than the rest. Therefore, a construction joint is inevitably created. Due to the drying shrinkage of concrete, tension stress may occur in concrete slab. High tensile stress can be expected near the construction joint where concretes with different ages meet. Moreover, prestressing is not applied over the whole length of slab at one time. This may also serve as a source of tensile stress in the slab. Thus there is a chance that cast-in-place PC slab, especially near the construction joint, may be subjected to tensile cracking. In the present study, stress states near the construction joint in the cast-in-place PC slab of a two-plate-girder bridge are investigated numerically. The finite element method is employed and the three-dimensional analysis is conducted to see the influence of dry shrinkage and prestressing. The stress states in the PC slab thus obtained are discussed. The simplified model of a plate girder for this class of analysis is also proposed.
