Well-dispersed silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized using a benign, one-pot process based on a low-cost wet chemistry technique. Monoethanolamine was used as a strong reducing agent and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) was used as a stabilizing agent. After the addition of these reagents to a reaction system, one-pot synthesis of AgNPs was completed in ~45min at 75 oC with a reaction efficiency of 92.4%. The average particle size of the aqueous dispersion of AgNPs was 14.83±5.96 nm, and the dispersion remained stable even after 14 months in an ambient dark environment, which may be due to the electrostatic repulsion of the carboxylate anions of the stabilizing agent. The role of PAA in the stabilization of the AgNPs was analyzed via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The highly stable AgNPs in the aqueous system showed high catalytic activity for the reduction of methylene blue and p-nitrophenol in the presence of sodium borohydride as the reducing agent based on pseudo-first-order kinetics

The synthesis and characterization of two series of biobased novel poly(1,4-cyclohexylenedimethyleneterephthalate-co-1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) copolyesters containingisosorbide (ISB) content (PCITN) ranging from 0 to 11 mol% relative to the total diol amount wascarried out in this study. The Novel PCITN was containing 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (NDA)content ranging from 0 to 100 mol% relative to the total diacid amount. The synthesized PCITN werethoroughly characterized for their actual chemical composition, molecular weight, thermal properties,thermal stability, dimensional stability, transmittance (%), and birefringence. All the copolyesters showedthe characteristics of random copolyesters and their composition and thermal properties could becontrolled by the molar feed ratio of diol and diacid moieties. Results indicate that ISB significantlyimproves the glass transition temperature (Tg) of resultant copolyesters. It was also found thatsynthesized copolyesters have a high Tg and wide processing window compared to conventionalhomopolyesters. Exceptional performance properties: such as high Tg, Tm, high thermal stability,dimensional stability, good moisture barrier, good transmittance, and low birefringence of fabricatedPCI6TN70 film, make it suitable for versatile industrial applications especially for biomedical, packaging,and optical applications.

Poly(1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate-co-1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) (PC#TN#) 폴리에스테르 공중합체를 안정제 및 금속 촉매를 넣지 않고 실온에서 단일 단계 용액 중합법으로 합성하였다. 얻어진 PC#TN# 폴리에스테르 공중합체의 화학 구조는 ¹H NMR로 규명하였고, 열특성은 TGA와 DSC로 확인하였다. 열적 특성은 diacid 부분의 나프탈렌 단위와 diol 부분의 cis/trans-1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol(CHDM) 이성질체의 비율을 변화시킴으로써 조절하였다. trans-CHDM의 증가된 함량은 유리 전이 온도(Tg) 및 용융 온도(Tm)를 증가시킬 수 있었다. 나프탈렌 단위의 함량을 증가시킴으로써 Tg는 선형적으로 증가하는 반면, Tm은 감소하다가 공융점(2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid 36 mole%)에 도달하면 증가하였다. 합성된 폴리에스테르 공중합체의 열적분해 거동은 나프탈렌 및 trans-CHDM 단위를 증가시킴으로써 상당히 개선되었다. In this work, two series of poly(1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate-co-1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) (PC#TN#) copolyesters were synthesized by a simple one-step solution polymerization method at room temperature without the use of stabilizer and metallic catalyst. Chemical compositions of obtained PC#TN# copolyesters were confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance (¹H NMR) spectroscopy. Thermal properties of synthesized copolyesters were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Thermal properties of synthesized PC#TN# were controlled by varying the ratio of naphthalene units in diacid part and cis/trans-1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) isomers in diol part. An increased content of trans-CHDM can increase glass transition temperature (Tg) and melting temperature (Tm) profoundly. By increasing the content of naphthalene units, Tg increases linearly while Tm is first decreased then it starts to increase once the eutectic point (2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid 36 mole%) is reached. Thermal degradation behavior of synthesized copolyesters was also significantly improved by increasing naphthalene and trans-CHDM units.

It is essential to predict the radioactivity distribution around the reactor cooling system (RCS) duringobligatory cyclic operation of AP-1000. A home-developed program CPA-AP1000 is upgraded to predictthe response of activated corrosion products (ACPs) in the RCS. The program is written in MATLAB and ituses state of the art MCNP as a subroutine for flux calculations. A pair of cyclic power profiles weresuperimposed after initial full power operation. The effect of cyclic operation is noticed to be moreprominent for in-core surfaces, followed by the primary coolant and out-of-core structures. The resultshave shown that specific activity trends of 56Mn and 24Na promptly follow the power variations,whereas, 59Fe, 58Co, 99Mo and 60Co exhibit a sluggish power-following response. The investigationspointed out that promptly power-following response of ACPs in the coolant is vital as an instantradioactivity source during leakage incidents. However, the ACPs with delayed power-following responsein the out-of-core components are perceived to cause a long-term activity. The present results are foundin good agreement with those for a reference PWR. The results are useful for source term monitoring andoptimization of work procedures for an innovative reactor design
Real Exchange Rate Misalignment in Pakistan: An Application of Regime Switching Modelㅎ

This study investigates the key determinants of exchange rate (RER) misalignment for the period 1991 to 2020. The BEER technique has been used to estimate the degree of the equilibrium exchange rate. To explore the actual exchange rate misalignment and to assess the behavior of variables that are different in different regimes of undervaluation and overvaluation, the nonlinear technique of Markov regime-switching (MSM) was applied. The mean and variance of each regime are highly significant and show that undervaluation episodes have a low mean (116.139) and more volatility (1.229) while overvaluation episodes have a high mean (126.732) with less volatility (0.871). The findings show that MSM accurately identifies exchange rate misalignment in both regimes as separate incidents of overvaluation and undervaluation. Results further depict that misalignment of the RER is affected by terms of trade, net foreign assets, interest differential, government investment, and consumption decision. Results recommend that if policymakers want to use the exchange rate as a policy tool, they must first consider the drivers of the equilibrium exchange rate. As a result, any deliberate actions to address exchange rate misalignment must focus on the underlying fundamentals that drive the exchange rate.
Fe/Co doped ZIF derived nitrogen doped nanoporous carbon as electrode material for supercapacitors

Nanoporous carbon (NPC) for electrochemical energy storage devices has gained much interest due to itshigh specific area and tunable porosity. Herein, Fe and Co co-doped NPC is synthesized by a simple coprecipitationmethod followed by carbonization of Fe and Co doped ZIF8 at 900 ℃ (Fe-Co/NPC-900). The structural, morphological, elemental, chemical bonding, surface area, and thermal degradation ofthe synthesized material have been evaluated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method,and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. The high surface area of 933 m2/g and nanoporous structureof Fe-Co/NPC-900 electrode results in a high specific capacitance of 900 F/g at a current density of5 A/g. The cycle performance of Fe-Co/NPC-900 was remarkable with 88% of the capacitance retentionafter 5000 cycles at a high current density of 30 A/g. The high electrochemical performance of Fe-Co/NPC-900 is attributed to the hybrid doping of Fe and Co in nitrogen doped carbon network which offersa synergic effect in reaction.

Male cattle calves(n=24), 9-12 months age, with an average body weight of 120±20kg were fed total mixed rations(TMR) for 120 days to determine their growth performance. Animals were divided into four groups(six of each breed): Crossbred (Friesian×Sahiwal), Dhanni, Lohani, and Cholistani. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance techniques under a completely randomized design. The average daily gain(ADG), feed efficiency(FE), and dressing percentage ranged from 639-892g/d, 0.105-0.155kg/kg, and 51.2-51.5%, respectively, in the different breeds. The ADG and FE did not differ between the Crossbred, Dhanni, and Lohani breeds, but these values were lower in Cholistani calves(P<0.05). The dressing percentage was similar in all breeds. The highest increase in body height was observed in Dhanni calves, but heart girth was obviously higher in Lohani calves. The feed cost per kg gain was higher for Cholistani calves but similar among Crossbred, Dhanni, and Lohani calves(P>0.05). In conclusion, Dhanni, Lohani, and Crossbred calves possess the promising potential for beef production under the rainfed(Barani) conditions of the Punjab.
