Numerical Simulation of Semi-blunt Puncture Behaviors of Woven Fabrics Based on the Finite Element Method

        Fei-Fei Wang,Yan-Li Ma,Lan Xu,Ping Wang,Yan Zhang 한국섬유공학회 2018 Fibers and polymers Vol.19 No.11

This paper focuses on the semi-blunt puncture behavior of woven fabrics via finite element analysis (FEA) approaches. In these finite element (FE) models, main structure parameters, such as weave structure, warp density as well as friction coefficient, are systematically considered and calculated via FEA. These microstructure geometrical models are builtup with full consideration of interaction between warp and weft yarns. The theoretical results show that plain woven fabric has better puncture resistance compared with 2/1 twill and 5-harness satin fabrics. With the increase of warp density and friction coefficient, the puncture property of woven fabric will be dramatically improved. Finally, an energy consumption method is adopted to analyze the puncture damage process of woven fabric. The simulation results will benefit for the optimum design of woven fabric with excellent puncture performance.

Enhanced photocatalytic performance of TiO2 nanowires by substituting noble metal particles with reduced graphene oxide

        Fei Yuchen,Ye Xiaofang,Al-Baldawy Aseel Shaker,Wan Jing,Lan Jinshen,Zhao Jingtian,Wang Ziyun,Qu Shanzhi,Hong Rongdun,Guo Shengshi,Huang Shengli,Li Shuping,Kang Junyong 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.44 No.-

Noble metal particles have been embedded in semiconductors to improve photocatalysis efficiently, but the high cost made this approach difficult to apply widely in industry. Herein titanium dioxide/reduced graphene oxide (TiO2/rGO) nanowires in a core-shell structure were prepared. The physicochemical properties and photocatalytic performance of the specimen were characterized in comparison with TiO2 and TiO2/Pt nanowires. The rGO layer and Pt nanoparticles increased chemical states of the components, reduced bandgap energy of the nanowires, enhanced visible light absorption, improved conductance and capacitance significantly. The methylene blue as catalyzed by TiO2/Pt and TiO2/rGO nanowires was degraded to 7.9% and 8.4% in an hour, but retained 25.7% by the TiO2 nanowires. The properties and function of TiO2/rGO nanowires were close to those of TiO2/Pt nanowires, while the rGO price was much lower than that of Pt, which was of great significance for the photocatalytic application of TiO2 heterojunction materials in industry.

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens NAD+-dependent protein deacetylase: purification, crystallization and X-ray crystallographic analysis

        Fei Shang,Jinli Chen,Lulu Wang,Yuanyuan Chen,Jing Lan,Wei Liu,Liming Jin,하남철,Chunshan Quan,Yongbin Xu 한국구조생물학회 2019 Biodesign Vol.7 No.1

Sirtuins are NAD+-dependent deacetylase that are broadly conserved throughout bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes. Themembers of sirtuins are important in regulating diverse biological pathways, including gene silencing, DNA repair, genomestability, longevity, metabolism, and cell physiology. Sirtuin from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (BaSrtN) is a particularlyinteresting bacterial Sir2 homologue. In this study, to further understand the function and mechanisms of this protein,BaSrtN was successfully expressed and purified using Ni-NTA affinity, Q anion-exchange, and gel-filtration chromatography. Purified BaSrtN was crystallized and diffracted to the resolution of 1.45 Å. The preliminary crystallographic analysissuggested that BaSrtN crystal belongs to the trigonal space group P31 or P32, with unit-cell parameters of a = b = 90.115and c = 86.306 Å. Size-exclusion chromatography suggested that BaSrtN prefer to exit as monomers in solution.

      • Structural and functional analyses of the lipase CinB from <i>Enterobacter asburiae</i>

        Shang, Fei,Lan, Jing,Liu, Wei,Chen, Yuanyuan,Wang, Lulu,Zhao, Jing,Chen, Jinli,Gao, Peng,Ha, Nam-Chul,Quan, Chunshan,Nam, Ki Hyun,Xu, Yongbin Elsevier 2019 Biochemical and biophysical research communication Vol.519 No.2

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Lipases are widely present in various plants, animals and microorganisms, constituting a large category of enzymes. They have the ability to catalyze the cleavage of ester bonds. The lipase CinB from <I>Enterobacter asburiae</I> (<I>E. asburiae</I>) is an acetyl esterase. The primary amino acid sequence suggests that the EaCinB protein belongs to the α/β-hydrolase (ABH) superfamily of the esterase/lipase superfamily. However, its molecular functions have not yet been determined. Here, we report the crystal structure of <I>E. asburiae</I> CinB at a 1.45 Å resolution. EaCinB contains a signal peptide, cap domain and catalytic domain. The active site of EaCinB contains the catalytic triad (Ser180-His307-Asp277) on the catalytic domain. The oxyanion hole is composed of Gly106 and Gly107 within the conserved sequence motif HGGG (amino acid residues 106–109). The substrate is accessible between the α1 and α2 helices or the α1 helix and catalytic domain. Narrow substrate pockets are formed by the α2 helix of the cap domain. Site-directed mutagenesis showed that EaCinB-W208H exhibits a higher catalytic ability than EaCinB-WT by approximately nine times. Our results provide insight into the molecular function of EaCinB.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> EaCinB structure contains a signal peptide, cap domain and catalytic domain. </LI> <LI> The active site of EaCinB contains the catalytic triad (Ser180-His307-Asp277). </LI> <LI> The oxyanion hole is composed of Gly106 and Gly107. </LI> <LI> Substrate-binding mode of EaCinB are proposed. </LI> <LI> Site-directed mutagenesis showed that EaCinB-W208H exhibits a higher catalytic ability than EaCinB-WT. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Integrated Map-matching Algorithm Based on Fuzzy Logic and Dead Reckoning

        Yan-Lan Yang,Hua Ye,Shu-Min Fei 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10

Based on the concept of fuzzy logic, a new map-matching algorithm was proposed to reduce the GPS positioning error by means of position correction in use of the digital map. Firstly, three fuzzy rules are introduced in different aspects which may influent the credibility judgment of the best matching road. And the corresponding membership functions are defined in details separately for sub-evaluations of the direction consistency, the proximity and the track similarity against the original GPS position and its candidate road, where dead reckoning technique is referred. Secondly, the comprehensive evaluation performing as the unique basis for final judgment is made by doing simple addition of the results of these sub-evaluations with certain weights according to their contributions towards the credibility judgment. Finally, the original GPS position is revised by making a vertical projection onto the best matching road. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of this algorithm in improving the GPS positioning accuracy.

Effect of Non-Ionic Surfactant on Chemical Mechanical Planarization Performance in Alkaline Copper Slurry

Qinzhi Xu,Fei Yang,Lan Chen,He Cao 한국정밀공학회 2018 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.19 No.11

The role of non-ionic surfactant concentration in the planarization performance of copper wafer is investigated. The basic components of the slurry contain H2O2, a mixture of benzotriazole (BTA) and ammonium dodecyl sulfate (ADS), FA/O II (macromolecular organic complexing agent), and silica. The static performance of the alkaline slurry including the surface tension, viscosity, particle size distribution and zeta potentials is analyzed. The effect of AEO on material removal rate (MRR) profiles, within-wafer non-uniformity (WIWNU) and surface roughness is also discussed. The AEO in combination with a small amount of BTA and ADS has a large effect on the stability of abrasives, MRR, WIWNU and surface roughness. A new MRR model is proposed to elucidate the polishing mechanism, revealing that the inhibition properties of AEO can be characterized through the corrosion inhibition efficiency and adsorption behavior. An optimal choice of the AEO concentration can achieve a good stability of the slurry, high MRR, low WIWNU and planar surface. The surfactant concentration ranging from 0.1 wt% to 0.5 wt% would contribute to acquiring a good surface planarization performance. Therefore, this work provides a comprehensive understanding of the effect of AEO concentration on the surface planarity of copper CMP in alkaline slurries.

Aeromonas hydrophila cytosolic 5’-methylthioadenosine/S-adenosylhomocysteine nucleosidase MtaN-2

        Jinli Chen,Fei Shang,Lulu Wang,Wei Liu,Yuanyuan Chen,Jing Lan,Liming Jin,Nam-Chul Ha,Chunshan Quan,Yongbin Xu 한국구조생물학회 2018 Biodesign Vol.6 No.3

5’-methylthioadenosine/S-adenosylhomocysteine nucleosidase (MTAN) plays a critical role in diverse pathways in bacterial cells such as biological methylation, polyamine biosynthesis, methionine recycling, and bacterial quorum sensing. It has been known that MtaN catalyzes the hydrolysis of N-ribosidic bond of adenosine-based substrates such as S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine (SAH), S-methyl-5’-thioadenosine (MTA) and 5’-deoxyadenosine (5’-DOA). In Aeromonas hydrophila, there are two MtnN subfamily proteins: MtaN-1, a periplasmic protein with an N-terminal signal peptide; and MtaN-2, a cytosolic protein. In this study, MtaN-2 from A. hydrophila was successfully expressed and purified using Ni-NTA affinity, Q anion-exchange, and gel-filtration chromatography. We first crystallized apo MtaN-2 but it diffracted to a low resolution of 5.1 Å. New crystals suitable for diffraction were obtained by adding 2 mM adenosine, a substrate analog of MtaN-2 during purification process and the crystals diffracted to the resolution of 2.0 Å. The crystals belong to the trigonal space group P31 or P32, with unit-cell parameters of a = b = 74.94 Å and c = 185.21 Å. The asymmetric unit contains four complexes of MtaN-2 with hydrolysis products of adenosine.

      • Efficacy and Safety of Sorafenib for Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: a Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

        Wang, Wei-Lan,Tang, Zhi-Hui,Xie, Ting-Ting,Xiao, Bing-Kun,Zhang, Xin-Yu,Guo, Dai-Hong,Wang, Dong-Xiao,Pei, Fei,Si, Hai-Yan,Zhu, Man Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14

Background: Many clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate sorafenib for the treatment of advanced NSCLC, but the results for efficacy have been inconsistent. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sorafenib in patients with advanced NSCLC in more detail by meta-analysis. Methods: This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed after searching PubMed, EMBASE, ASCO Abstracts, ESMO Abstracts, and the proceedings of major conferences for relevant clinical trials. Two reviewers independently assessed the quality of the trials. Outcomes analysis were disease control rate (DCR), progression- free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) and major toxicity. Subgroup analysis was conducted according to sorafenib monotherapy, in combination with chemotherapy or EGFR-TKI to investigate the preferred therapy strategy. Results: Results reported from 6 RCTs involving 2, 748 patients were included in the analysis. Compared to sorafenib-free group, SBT was not associated with higher DCR (RR 1.31 (0.96- 1.79), p=0.09), PFS (HR 0.82 (0.66-1.02), p=0.07) and OS (HR 1.01 (0.92-1.12), p=0.77). In terms of subgroup results, sorafenib monotherapy was associated with significant superior DCR and longer PFS, but failed to show advantage with regard to OS. Grade 3 or greater sorafenib-related adverse events included fatigue, hypertension, diarrhea, oral mucositis, rash and HFSR. Conclusions: SBT was revealed to yield no improvement in DCR, PFS and OS. However, sorafenib as monotherapy showed some activity in NSCLC. Further evaluation may be considered in subsets of patients who may benefit from this treatment. Sorafenib combined inhibition therapy should be limited unless the choice of platinum-doublet regimen, administration sequence or identification of predictive biomarkers are considered to receive better anti-tumor activity and prevention of resistance mechanisms.

      • Interleukin-4 and -8 Gene Polymorphisms and Risk of Gastric Cancer in a Population in Southwestern China

        Pan, Xiong-Fei,Wen, Ying,Loh, Marie,Wen, Yuan-Yuan,Yang, Shu-Juan,Zhao, Zhi-Mei,Tian, Zhi,Huang, He,Lan, Hui,Chen, Feng,Soong, Richie,Yang, Chun-Xia Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7

Background: Gastric carcinogenesis is a complicated process that involves environmental and genetic factors like interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-8. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in their genes are associated with changed levels of gene expression. Here, we investigated the association between IL4-590 C>T and IL8-251T>A and gastric cancer (GC) risk in Sichuan of Southwestern China. Materials and Methods: We surveyed the research subjects using a self-designed questionnaire with questions on demographic factors and putative risk factors. Approximately 2-5ml of whole blood was collected after field survey to analyze IL4-590 C>T and IL8-251T>A genotypes using MALDI-TOF MS. Results: Our study recruited 308 pairs of GC patients and controls, including 224 (72.7%) men and 84 (27.3%) women in each group. There were 99 cardia and 176 noncardia GC patients in the case group. The case and control groups had an average age of $57.7{\pm}10.6$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) and $57.6{\pm}11.1$ years. GC patients reported a significantly greater proportion of family history of cancer (29.9% vs 10.7%, p<0.01) and drinking (54.6% vs 43.2%, p<0.01) than did controls. Variant genotypes of IL-4-590 C>T and IL-8-251 T>A were not associated with overall GC risk (adjusted OR, 0.89; 95%CI, 0.61-1.28 for CT or CC vs TT; adjusted OR, 1.14; 95%CI, 0.86-1.79 for TA or AA vs TT). Stratification analysis of two SNPs for risk by subsites only found that variant IL-8-251 TA or AA genotype was associated with increased noncardia GC risk (adjusted OR, 2.58; 95%CI, 1.19-5.57). We did not observe interactions between the IL-8-251 T>A genotype and smoking (adjusted OR, 0.38; 95%CI, 0.08-1.79) or drinking (adjusted OR, 0.36; 95%CI, 0.08-1.65) for risk of noncardia GC. Conclusions: Our data indicate no association between the two SNPs of IL-4-590 and IL-8-251 with overall GC risk, while the IL-8-251 TA or AA genotype conferred risk of cardia GC. Our findings contribute to the evidence body for risk of SNPs associated with the development of gastric cancer in this region.
