The present trial aims to evaluate a supplementation of the olive leaf extract (OLE) in adjunct with a weight loss diet on anthropometric indices, glycemic indices, lipid profile, as well as the level of adipokines, and free fatty acid in obese women. We carried out an 8-week randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group, clinical trial. The participants were randomly stratified according to age and they were assigned to one of the two study groups: Standard weight loss diet (estimated daily energy requirements minus 500 kcal) + OLE supplementation (n = 35) in intervention group or Standard weight loss diet (estimated daily energy requirements minus 500 kcal) + placebo (n = 35) in placebo group. The study groups were homogeneous regarding the baseline age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumferences, married status, and physical activity levels (p > 0.05). The results of analysis of covariance presented significant decreases in BMI, fat mass, and body weight in the OLE group compared to those in the placebo group (p < 0.05). At the end of the study, the serum levels of fasting blood sugar, insulin, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, leptin, fatty free acid, and homeostasis model assessment–insulin resistance significantly decreased, and serum levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and adiponectin elevated in the intervention group (p < 0.05). Based on results it seems that the addition of OLE to a hypocaloric diet for 8-week compared with a hypocaloric diet alone may be more effective in modifying obesity and metabolic risk factors.
The Association between Sexual Self-Efficacy and the Quality of Life among Menopausal Women

Objectives: The present study aimed to determine the association between sexual self-efficacy (SSE) and quality of life (QOL) among menopausal women. Methods: In this analytical cross-sectional study, 558 menopausal women were enrolled. Consecutive and available sampling was performed for the sample collection. The instruments used for data collection included a three-part questionnaire consisting of demographic information, Menopausal-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire (MENQOL), and SSE questionnaire. Results: Overall, the maximum and minimum scores of SSE were related to sexual desire (2.88 ± 0.60) and orgasm (0.85 ± 0.17). The highest and lowest scores of QOL were related to psychosocial (4.14 ± 1.24) and sexual activity (3.03 ± 1.74) domains. A significant correlation was observed between the QOL and the domains of SSE (P < 0.001). The maximum and minimum correlation of QOL were related to sexual desire (P < 0.001, r = 0.030) and orgasm (P < 0.001, r = 0.108), respectively. Furthermore, a significant correlation was observed between the SSE score and all domains of QOL except for the vasomotor domain. With regard to the SSE score, the maximum association was found with the sexual activity score (P < 0.001, r = 0.466). Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, a significant direct correlation was observed between the QOL and SSE of menopausal women. Thus, further research and developing education and consultation as intervention programs for enhancing SSE can promote the QOL among women.
Finite element stress analysis of functionally graded dental implant of a premolar tooth

Tooth is one of the most important parts of the body in terms of beauty and eating and the use of implants is considered as the most familiar strategies to deal with being edentulous. Unfortunately, the implants may break and this brings secondary problems. The present study aims to determine the stress distribution in dentures through finite elements analysis. In order to reduce stress concentration in the implant, Functionally graded materials (FGM) that their mechanical properties change gradually and continuously, were used. These changes are made from hydroxyapatite to titanium. It is observed that the stress concentration is significantly reduced.

Background: CYP2E1 encodes an enzyme which is mainly involved in bioactivation of potential carcinogens such as N-nitrosamines. Polymorphisms in the gene have been reported to be associated with cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate genotype distributions and allele frequencies of five CYP2E1 polymorphisms in Iran Materials and Methods: Two hundred healthy individuals of an Iranian population from the southwest were included in this study. PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism and Tetra-ARMS PCR methods were applied for CYP2E1 genotyping. Results: The allele frequencies for $^*5B$, $^*6$, $^*7B$, $^*2$, and $^*3$ were calculated to be 1.5%, 16%, 28.5%, 0%, and 2.75% respectively. Results of this study showed that no significant differences in genotype and allele frequencies of five single nucleotide polymorphisms with respect to the gender and tribes. The chi-square test showed that the genotype frequencies of $CYP2E1^*5B$ were similar to Caucasians, but the distribution of $CYP2E1^*6$ genotypes was similar to Asians. The frequencies of $CYP2E1^*2$ (0%) and $CYP2E1^*3$ (2.75%) alleles were within the range for Caucasians and Orientals. In the case of $CYP2E1^*7B$, the data werelimited. Accordingly, the results were only compared with Europeans and the comparison showed significant differences. Conclusions: In conclusion, ethnic and geographic differences may explain discrepancies in the prevalence of CYP2E1 polymorphisms.
