<P>Even though rain rate is notorious for its spatial and temporal intermittency, its effect on the second-order statistics of rain rate, especially the inter-station correlation coefficients, has not been intensively evaluated before. This study has derived and compared the inter-station correlation coefficient of rain rate for three cases of data: (1) only the positive measurements at both locations; (2) the positive measurements at either one or both locations; (3) all the measurements including zero measurement at both locations. For these three cases, the inter-station correlation coefficients are analytically derived by applying the mixed bivariate log-normal distribution. As an application example, the model parameters are estimated using the rain rate data collected at the Geum River basin, Korea, and the resulting inter-station correlation coefficients are evaluated and compared with those estimated by applying the Gaussian distribution. We could find that highly biased inter-station correlation coefficients are unavoidable when simply estimating them under the assumption of Gaussian distribution, or even when using the log-transformed rain rate data. <P>In this paper, we report contact properties of fully inkjet-printed organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) with various channel lengths and their improvement by introducing an organo-compatible interlayer between the organic channel and inkjet-printed metallic contacts. To realize all-inkjet-printed OTFTs, a highly conductive metal-organic precursor type silver ink, poly(4-vinylphenol), chlorosilane-terminated polystyrene (PS) and 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (TIPS pentacene) solutions were printed by using a commercial piezoelectric inkjet-printer for gate and source/drain (S/D) electrodes, a gate dielectric layer, an interface engineering layer, and a semiconductor layer, respectively. Especially, since the contact resistance more dominantly affects a carrier injection property as channel length gets short, a short-channel length of 7 mu m was formed by using 1 picoliter volume ink cartridge to investigate effects of the organo-compatible interlayer obviously. To evaluate contact properties of the inkjet-printed short-channel OTFTs, transmission line method and Y-function method analyses were used for various channel lengths and low drain-to-source voltage (V-DS) regime of -5 V, respectively. The contact properties between inkjet-printed silver S/D electrodes and TIPS pentacene semiconductor were drastically enhanced showing contact resistance lowered by an order of magnitude and a good linearity at low V-DS regime after inserting an end-functionalized PS layer.</P>

<P>Hybrid supercapacitors (battery-supercapacitor hybrid devices, HSCs) deliver high energy within seconds (excellent rate capability) with stable cyclability. One of the key limitations in developing high-performance HSCs is imbalance in power capability between the sluggish Faradaic lithium-intercalation anode and rapid non-Faradaic capacitive cathode. To solve this problem, we synthesize Nb2O5@carbon core-shell nanocyrstals (Nb2O5@C NCs) as high-power anode materials with controlled crystalline phases (orthorhombic (7) and pseudohexagonal (TT)) via a facile one-pot synthesis method based on a water-in-oil microemulsion system. The synthesis of ideal T-Nb2O5 for fast Li+ diffusion is simply achieved by controlling the microemulsion parameter (e.g., pH control). The T-Nb2O5@C NCs shows a reversible specific capacity of similar to 180 mA h g(-1) at 0.05 A g(-1) (1.1-3.0 V vs Li/Li+) with rapid rate capability compared to that of TT-Nb2O5@C and carbon shell-free Nb2O5 NCs, mainly due to synergistic effects of (i) the structural merit of T-Nb2O5 and (ii) the conductive carbon shell for high electron mobility. The highest energy (similar to 63 W h kg(-1)) and power (16 528 W kg(-1) achieved at similar to 5 W h kg(-1)) densities within the voltage range of 1.0-35 V of the HSC using T-Nb2O5@C anode and MSP-20 cathode are remarkable.</P>

Background: Diet and physical activity are key factors related to depressive mood. Previous studies have demon-strated the effects of diet and physical activity on depression. However, the effect of energy intake-expenditure bal-ance (EIEB) on mental health has not been fully evaluated. This study aimed to analyze the association between EIEB and depression.Methods: A total of 13,460 participants (5,660 men and 7,800 women) aged ≥19 years were obtained from the 2014, 2016, and 2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). EIEB was defined as the dif-ference between the daily energy intake and energy expenditure. Energy intake was calculated and provided by the KNHANES using a 24-hour recall survey. Energy expenditure was estimated as the sum of basal metabolic rate and physical activity. Logistic regression analyses were used to investigate the association between sex-specific quartile groups (Q1–Q4) of EIEB and depression after adjusting for socioeconomic status, body mass index, lifestyle factors, and underlying diseases.Results: Women in Q3 of EIEB (211–669 kcal) had a significantly lower risk of depression (odd ratio [OR], 0.78; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.67–0.92) than those in Q1 of EIEB (<-167 kcal). The adjusted ORs of depression were 0.87 (95% CI, 0.75–1.02) in Q2 and 0.86 (95% CI, 0.74–1.01) in Q4, with P for trend=0.030. There were no significant asso-ciations between the EIEB quartile groups and depression in men after adjusting for potential confounders (P for trend=0.564).Conclusion: Our results suggested that the EIEB is negatively associated with depression in Korean women.
