Deep-blue fluorescent materials are a key component in the development of organic light emitting diode(OLED). The synthesis of efficient deep-blue luminescent materials with narrowband emissions andstable OLED devices is important. Here, three new deep-blue fluorescent materials containing electrondonor as an indenocarbazole and p-bridge linkage as a pyrene moiety were designed and synthesized. They possessed high thermal decomposition temperature higher than 498 C. The three new fluorescentdopants, 1,6-DICP (1,6-bis(7,7-dimethylindeno[2,1–b] carbazol-5(7H)-yl)pyrene), 1,7-DICP (5,50-(pyrene-1,7-diyl)bis(7,7-dimethyl-5,7-dihydroindeno [2,1–b]carbazole)), and 1,6-DIC-3,8-DIP (5,50-(3,8-diisopropylpyrene-1,6-diyl)bis(7,7-dimethyl-5,7-dihydroindeno[2,1–b]carbazole)) were synthesized anddoped in 2-methyl-9,10-bis(naphthalen-2-yl)anthracene as a blue host for emitting layer. The devicesfabricated with these emitting materials showed deep-blue emission with peak wavelength (kem) at445, 445, and 446 nm [CIE (1931): (0.15, 0.09), (0.15, 0.09), and (0.149, 0.085)]. It also exhibited highcolor purity with narrow spectral width (FWHM: 59 nm). In addition, they showed high external quantumefficiencies (EQE) of 3.61, 4.97, and 8.34%, respectively. In particular, the 1,6-DIC-3,8-DIP-baseddevice exhibited high EQE and high current and power efficiencies, owing to the high photoluminescencequantum yield (PLQY) presumably due to a suppression of molecular aggregation by structural modificationto give a twisted structure with a high dihedral angle.

Malignant mesenchymalneoplasms of the gallbladder are extremely rare with only 105 cases of primary gallbladder sarcoma having been described. It has a very aggressive behavior and is usually diagnosed at advanced stages. Therefore, curative surgical management may not be possible. We performed a radical cholecystectomy (S4b + S5 segmentectomy), omentectomy and small bowel resection in a 54-year-old patient with locally invasive leiomyosarcoma of the gallbladder. Further studies are needed to confirm the benefit of aggressive treatment for patients with leiomyosarcoma of the gallbladder.
Prevalence and Kinetic Behavior of Escherichia coli in Smoked Duck at Changing Temperature

본 연구에서는 훈제오리 슬라이스에서 Escherichia coli 유통 중 생장 예측을 위한 dynamic model을 개발하였다. E. coli는 2개의 훈제 오리 시료(16.7%) 에서 1.23 log CFU/ g검출되었다. 10-30oC 보관에 따라 E. coli의 μmax는 0.05- 0.36 log CFU/g/h, LPD는 4.39-1.07h, h0 값은 0.24-0.51을 나타내었다. 개발된 모델의 검증은 15oC, 23oC에서 수행 하였다. 모델 검증 결과 RMSE값이 0.130으로 개발된 모델이 다른 온도에 적용하기에 적합하다고 판단하였다. 이 러한 결과는 E. coli로 개발된 모델은 훈제오리 슬라이스에서 E. coli의 변화하는 온도에 따른 생장을 예측하는 데 유용하다. The objective of this study was to develop dynamic model to describe the kinetic behavior of E. coli in sliced smoked duck. E. coli was detected in 2 sliced smoked duck samples (16.7%) at 1.23 log CFU/g. The maximum specific growth rate (μmax) of E. coli ranged from 0.05 to 0.36 log CFU/g/h, and lag phase duration (LPD) ranged from 4.39 to 1.07 h, depending on the storage at 10-30oC, and h0 value ranged from 0.24 to 0.51. The developed model was validated with observed values obtained at 13oC and 25oC. The model performance was appropriate with 0.130 of root mean squared error (RMSE), and the dynamic model also described properly kinetic behavior of E. coli in sliced smoked duck samples. These results indicate that E. coli can contaminate sliced smoked ducks and the models developed with the E. coli isolates are useful in describing the kinetic behavior of E. coli in sliced smoked duck.

PURPOSE: Social participation is essential for stroke survivors. Although participation restrictions are affected by several factors, a few studies have focused on the effects of living in a particular residential area (urban versus rural) on the participation restrictions after a stroke. This study examined the factors affecting participation restrictions in stroke survivors according to the residential area. METHODS: One hundred sixty-six stroke patients (including 130 living in urban areas and 36 living in rural areas) were recruited for this study. The Korean Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI) was used to assess the activities of daily living (ADL). The Korean Mini-Mental Examination Status (MMSE-K) was used to assess cognition. The motor function was evaluated using the Fugl-Meyer function assessment (FMA). Path analysis was used to test the hypothesized model of participation restriction. RESULTS: The proposed path model showed good fit indices. In rural and urban areas, the direct effects were significant between the ADL and participation restrictions (β = -.673 and -.457, respectively). For urban areas, the direct effects were significant between cognition and participation restrictions (β = -.252). In both area types, motor function and cognition had a significant direct effect on the ADL. CONCLUSION: For urban community-dwelling stroke survivors, the ADL and cognition had direct effects on participation restrictions. For rural area stroke survivors, the ADL had direct effects on participation restrictions. Activity level exercise programs help reduce the participation restrictions. Moreover, it is essential to address cognition training to improve participation in urban community-dwelling stroke survivors.
