<P>Reactive oxygen species (ROS), generated by ionizing radiation, has been implicated in its effect on living tissues. We confirmed the changes in the oxidative stress markers upon irradiation. We characterized the changes in the proteome profile in rat liver after administering irradiation, and the affected proteins were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS and ESI-MS/MS. The identified proteins represent diverse sets of proteins participating in the cellular metabolism. Our results demonstrated that proteomics analysis is a useful method for characterization of a global proteome change caused by ionizing radiation to unravel the molecular mechanisms involved in the cellular responses to ionizing radiation.</P>

The boundary element elastostatic analysis of interface crack between the two dissimilar materials, was described. The method to determine parameter of fracture mechanics(stress intensity factor, energy release rate), was studied. The parameter of fracture mehanics for single bonded lap-joint analyzed by the present method and boundary element method(BEM), can be applied to confirm fracture criterion crack.

Leucaena is the common name for Leucaena leucocephala which is a tropical leguminous tree with a potential value as a source of wood production, high quality forage, and revegetation of hillslopes. In spite of the plant's value, both the differences of pod setting ratio among Leucaena species and the differences of flowering period limited breeding of high quality species of Leucaena plant. To overcome these problems this study was conducted to find the possibility of long term storage of Leucaena pollen by using vacuum and low temperatures. Pollen viability decreased after 1.5 days after storage at room temperature. The same trend was observed for the pollen stored at refrigerator (91℃). Pollen viability, however, was maintained longer with decreasing storage temperature to that of freezer (-17℃). Vacuum treatment also helped to maintain pollen viability either at room or refrigerator temperatures. The ratio of exploded pollen showed the same pattern as the percentage of normally germinated pollen stored under different conditions except the pollen stored at refrigerator. Average tube lengths of germinated pollens were 4.3 and 3.6 mm for the pollen stored at freezer and refrigerator with vacuum, respectively. In conclusion, the viability of Leucaena pollen could be extended by storing under vacuum at freezing temperatures.

It is not long time ago that we tried to put something into our graphic design or motion graphics. In late 1960s the 'Work' which is called special effects demanded huge amount of labor. Producers had to print every single frame and arrange to animate. Those kinds of works were real time consuming jobs. Furthermore, results were not even quite accurate. Since those kinds of reason, the effects could not catch the viewers interest effectively in terms of motion graphics design. As time goes on, both technology and sense of screen design have been changed dramatically. People in general realize that this is another type of possibility for industry.
광촉매 산화반응을 이용한 트리클로로에틸렌(TCE) 처리에 관한 연구

Photocatalyzed degradation of trace level trichloroethylene(TCE) and toluene in air were carried out over near UV illuminated titanium dioxide(anatase) pellet in a flow reactor. This study was investigated the effects of humidity and oxygen. Inlet concentrations for TCE was injected with the ranges of 10~100 ppm. TCE photooxidatino was very rapid under our experimental conditions, and ~100% conversion was achieved for TCE concentration examined up to 70 ppm as a single air contaminant. An important finding was that competitive adsorption between humidity and oxygen has a significant effect on the oxidation rate.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the growth elasticity of the tourism industry in Kangwon Province. In order to understand the resent growth of this industry in Kangwon area author tried to define newly the concept of tourism industry, categolizing the several tourism industries more systematically. The results was found from the analysis that the growth elasticity of the tourism industry is higher growing industry than any other one, such as the mining and the manufacturing industry. The growth elasticity of the tourism industry from 1988 to 1990 was found 0.9, and from 1990 to 1992 it jumped to 3.23. This means that an increase of 1% per capita income in Kwangwon Province gaines also the value added per capita in the tourism industry from 0.9% in 1990 to 3.23% in 1992. Therefore the tourism industry contributes greatly to the expansion of income of that local people. In conclusion, author would suggest that not only the central & local goverment but the enterprises should encourage to invest more to the tourism industry than any other one, and to allot resources efficiently in the tourism industry.

In this study, experiments were carried out to investigate the characteristics of grinding and wear process of diamond wheel for ceramic materials. Normal component of grinding resistance of AL_2O_3 was less than that of Si_3N_4 and ZrO_2. This seems to be the characteristics of ceramic tools on work pieces both of high hardness. For the case of Si_3N_4 and ZrO_2 as the mesh number of wheel increases, the surface roughness decreases. For the case of Al_2O_3, the surface roughness does not decreases. Specific grinding energy decreases as the material removal rate per unit time increases. For the case of Si_3N_4 and ZrO_2, grinding is carried out by grain shedding process due to brittle fracture.

Purpose : To determine the head position that the superior border of the mandibular canal as well as mental foramen can be more clearly visualized in panoramic radiography Materials and Methods : Ten dry mandibles were radiographed bilaterally using PM 2002 CC panoramic machine. A 20 mm thick aluminium filter was added to the slit collimator to obtain radiographs with acceptable density. The specimens were tilted by 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 degrees downward with and without radiopaque markers. Radiopaque markers were inserted into the mandibular canals and the mental canals of each side of the specimens to serve as reference image when assessing the radiographs. The visibility of the mandibular canal and the mental foramen was estimated by 4 observers on all radiographs. The obtained results were analyzed statistically. Results : Mandibular canals were significantly more clearly visible in the radiographs with 4 and 6 degree downward position on both sides (P〈0.05). Mental foramens were significantly more clearly visible in the radiographs with 4, 6, and 8 degree downward on right side and 6 degree downward on left side (P〈0.05). There was not significant difference between right and left sides. Conclusion : Panoramic radiographs with 4 to 6 degree downward tilting could be valuable in locating the mandibular canal as well as the mental foramen.
