      • PHYLOGENY OF MADS-BOX GENES : ITS RELEVANCE FOR PLANT BREEDING AND THE EVOLUTION OF FLOWER DEVELOPMENT

        MADS-box genes (Schwarz-Sommer et al. 1990) contribute significantly to the development of inflorescences and flowers, e.g. by acting as floral meristem or organ identity genes (for recent reviews, see Thei?en and Saedler 1995; Thei?en et al. 1996;Riechmann and Meyerowitz 1997). Up to now, MADS-box genes have mainly been studied in the scientific context of developmental biology, and in eudicotyledonous model plants of little commercial value, such as Antirrhinum and Arabidopsis. The focus of our group is to apply our current knowledge about flower development to breeding research and evolutionary biology. Therefore, we are currently characterizing the MADS-box gene family in the important monocotyledonous crop plant maize (Zea mays ssp. mays), and in other phylogenetic informative taxa, such as the monocots lily (Lilium regale) and tulip (Tulipa gesneriana), the basal angiosperm Cabomba, and non-flowering plnats including the gymnosperm Gnetum gnemon and the ferns Ceratopteris and Ophioglossum.

      • HBsAg양성 원발성간암에 있어서 HBV-DNA표지자의 PCR성적

        목적 : HBV-DNA를 정성적 그리고 정량적으로 검출함으로써 강한 전염성과 높은 유병율로 인해 사회적으로 문제가 되는 B형 간염과 원발성간암의 연관성을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : B형 간염 표면항원(HBsAg)이 양성을 보이는 원발성간암 환자 38명을 대상으로 하였으며 HBV-DNA 중합효소연쇄반응법을 이용하여 정성적 검출 그리고 luminometry법을 이용하여 정량적 검출을 하였다. 결과 : HBV-DNA 중합효소연쇄반응법과 luminometry법의 양성율은 각각 57.9%, 39.5%를 보였다. 그리고 HBsAg과 HBeAg가 동시에 양성을 보인 11명에서는 HBV-DNA 양성율이 81.8%를 보였다. 결론: HBV-DNA 중합효소연쇄반응법의 양성율이 luminometry법에 의한 양성율보다 높은 결과를 보였고 HBV-DNA 검사는 B형 간염을 조기 발견하고 치료하여 만성간질환으로의 진행을 예방하고 특히 원발성간암의 병율을 낮추는데 많이 기여할 것으로 사료되었다. Background : Primary hepatocellular carcinoma(PHCC) is the most common malignant neoplasm in most countries of Asia and Africa. Hepatitis B virus is known to be strongly related to the pathogenesis of PHCC. HBV-DNA PCR and HBV-DNA quantitation assay were attempted to apply to 38 cases of HBsAg positive PHCC. Methods : The ordinary HBV markers(HBsAg, anti-HBs, anti-HBc(Ig-G and -M), HBeAg and anti-HBe) were examined with ELISA. Qualitative screening of HBV-DNA PCR and HBV-DNA quantitation-luminometric measurement were performed. Results : Among 38 cases of HBsAg positive PHCC, positive rates for HBV DNA-PCR and HBV DNA-quantitation were 57.9% and 39.5%, respectively. And 11 cases which were positive for both HBsAg and HBeAg showed 81.8% positive rate in HBV-DNA PCR. Conclusion : For 38 cases of HBsAg positive PHCC, the positive rate for HBV DNA-PCR was higher than HBV-DNA quantitation-luminometry. In HBV-DNA PCR, both HBsAg and HBeAg positive cases showed high positive rate.

      • 다기관 전향적 임상연구를 위한 웹 데이터베이스 시스템

        Because many centers jointly select the subject, multi-center clinical study can promptly recruit various patient groups into the research, thus being advantageous in terms of generalization. However, prospective clinical study has difficulties in implementation, because it takes a lot of efforts to trace a large scale of subjects. The purpose of this study is to develop a web database system suitable for multi-center prospective clinical study. This study has presented three basic strategies-accurate data input, easy data tracing, and real-time data verification-to supplement the demerits of prospective clinical study. The developed system has been applied in the clinical study proceeded by the study group for Respiratory failure which is affiliated to The Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases's Association for Research on Respiratory Failure and has been verified of its performance.

        The aim of this study is to introduce Marian Borkowski, modern Polish composer into Korea and make the audience approach to modern music easily. Through research of this piece. I found various technique of modern music. Limits is consist of arch form with 7 parts: A-B-Tr.1-C-D-Tr.2-AR including connecting parts. Each part has the harmony with the equal-step sonorities : diminished second and augmented second, and the non equal-step sonorities : diminished second+forth, diminished second+fifth, and diminished second+sixth. Its sonority becomes cluster, but its form can be divided accurately, and its tone color is delicate. The rhythms are related with the above closely, and the of form and the harmony of combination. I also found the unique expression of climax through diverse combnination of harmony, arrangement of musical instruments and modern performing methods. I concluded his creation of new technique and well harmonized structure of the form. and the rhythms through various experiments make the audience overcome the obscurity of modern music. And I hope this analysis devotes the audience to understand the modern music easily.

        응급실에서 succinylcholine을 이용한 기관내 삽관시 혈청 칼륨의 변화

        Succinylcholine is a depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent(NMB) and is used in induction of anesthesia. Succinylcholine-assisted endotracheal intubation has been routinely used in the operating room and rapid sequence intubation with NMB agent has been the method for airway management in emergency department(ED). Adverse effects of succinylcholine are hyperkalemia, malignant hyperthermia, transient hypotension, arrhythmia, and increased intracranial, intraocular and gastric pressure, etc. This study carried out the change of serum potassium as an adverse effects of succinylcholine during endotracheal intubation in ED. A prospective, noncontrolled design was used to study serial serum potassium levels in pre-and postendotracheal intubation(5min) from February 1996 to August 1996. Succinycholine was selectively used in patient with a ploblem of difficult endotracheal intubation (alert to drowsy mental status with intact gag reflex). The dose of succinylcholine was 1.5 mg/kg and injected into intravenous line during preoxygenation with bag-valve-mask device. Student's two-tailed t-test was used and p-value was<0.05. Among the total of 48 patients(male 27, female 21), the postintubation level of the serum potassium of 25 patients were increased and those of 21 persons were decreased compared with preintubation level. Two patient showed no change in amount. The average serum potassium indicated 3.7±0.8 mEq/L before the injection of the succinylcholine and 3.8±0.9 mEq/L 5 minutes after its injection. P-value showed more than 0.05 and as the result statistically there was no noteworthy difference. All patients were intubated within 30 sec and no patients were failed. We concluded that succinylcholine-assisted endotracheal intubation is a rapid and safe method as an endotracheal intubation practiced in ED and succinylcholin-induced hyperkalemia is miniimal and no adverse effect.

        화학공정 위험영향 평가기술에서의 다중요소분석기법을 이용한 사고시나리오 산정에 관한 전략

        현재 전세계적으로 공장내(on-site)뿐만 아니라 공장외지역(off-site)에 대한 사고영향평가의 필요성이 대두되고 있으며, 공장외지 역에 대한 영향평가 수행후 이에 대한 적절한 비상계획을 제출하도록 하고 있고, 국내에서도 종합적위험관리체계(IRMS ; Integrated Risk Management System)를 PSM이나 SMS와 더불어 시행 준비중에 있다. 그러나 공장외지 역에 대한 위험영향 평가시 가장 먼저 결정되어야할 가상시나리오에 대한 기준이 체계적으로 마련되어 있지 않아 사용자나 분석자에 따라 평가결과가 다양하게 나오며, 또한 공정에서 발생할 수 있는 사고의 이상원을 정확하게 파악하지 못한다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 가상시나리오를 결정하는데 필요한 공정요소를 분석한 후, 분석결과에 따라 발생 가능하고, 먼저 고려되어야 할 시나리오를 산정할 수 있도록 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 분석된 공정요소들은 요소에 따른 가중치를 부여하여 위험등급을 결정한 후 등급에 따른 위험영향 평가를 수행하도록 한다. 분석의 결과는 가상시나리오의 신뢰성을 향상시킴으로써 위험영향평가가 과대평가되는 것을 방지하고, 공정의 설계나 비상계획의 수립시 효과적이고 적절한 대책마련을 유도할 수 있다. This article proposes a strategy for producing accident scenarios in quantitative risk, which is performed in process design or operation steps. Present worldwide chemical processes need offsite risk assessment as well as on-site one. Most governments in the world require industrial companies to submit the proper emergency plans through off-site risk assessment. Korea is also preparing for executing Integrated Risk Management System along with PSM and SMS. However, there have been no systematic approaches and criteria for generating virtual accident scenarios, and it made impossible to get a unified or coherent assessment resell. Without the result, causes of accidents cannot be corralled precisely, To get over these shortcomings, this study analyzed process elements and then proposed a strategy for selecting and generating the accident scenario that is most likely to happen and should be foremost considered. The analyzed process elements are ranked and risk grades determined. According to the grades, risk assessment is performed. The result of analysis enhances the reliability of the generated risk scenario, and prevents some risks from being overestimated. The result should be helpful in process design and emergency planning.       • 석탄폐석의 흡착능 개발 및 흡착제로의 활용방안 연구

        본 연구는 폐기물의 형태로 현재 산과 계곡에 투기되어 있는 석탄페석을 이용하여 중금속 흡착과 난분해성 COD 및 색도제거 가능성을 검토하고, 간단한 열처리를 통한 흡착능 개발 실험을 위하여 수행되었다. 실험 결과 천연상태의 석탄폐석은 약 20∼30%의 중금속 흡착능을 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 탄화 공정인 간단한 열처리 만으로도 약 2 ∼ 5배의 흡착능 향상이 이루어졌다. 그리고 석탄폐석의 열처리 조건 변화에 따른 중금속 흡착능 실험에서는 500℃ 에서 6시간 반응시킨 것이 가장 우수하였다. 칼럼실험에 있어 기존의 입상활성탄 보다 처리효율이 저조하나 석탄폐석은 무가공 상태로도 약 30 ∼ 60%의 COD 및 색도를 제거할 수 있었다. 500℃에서 6시간 열처리된 폐석의 컬럼실험에서 생물학적 유출수의 색도 제거에 우수함을 알 수 있었으며, 중금속 및 COD제거에 있어서는 여과 속도에 따라 많은 차이를 보였다. 본 연구에서는 열처리 공정만 적용한 기초 실험이였으나, 석탄폐석의 흡착제 개발의 가능성을 알 수 있었으며, 활성화 공정을 적용할 경우 흡착능은 더욱 향상될 것으로 판단된다. This reaserch aims to remove the heavy metals, NBDCOD, and color using the coal waste. The expermental by heat treatment. was performed to advance the adsorption capacity. The results are as follows ; ⅰ) The coal waste had the adsorption capacity of heavy metals and the rates were in the range of 20 to 30 percents. ⅱ) The heat treatment was the optimum condition that the reaction time was 6 hours at 500 ℃. ⅲ) In the column experimental, non-treated coal waste removed the COD and color in the range of 20 to 60 percents. ⅳ) Heat-treated coal waste showed the high removal rate of the color in biological effluent, but heavy metal and COD removal rates were changed by the filteration rates.
