A longitudinal study was conducted to determine the physical maturity characteristics of athletes engaged in the following extracurricular sports activities over the three-year junior high school period : basketball(N=40), baseball(N=130), volleyball(N=54), soccer(N=86) and a non=athletic group(N=37) which did not participate in sports. Each athlete's maturity was determined from the age of maximum increment in height (MIA) of each individual. Longitudinal stature measurements were recorded annually in April for 12 years period from 6 to 18 years of age. The study yielded the following results : 1. The MIA distributions of all the sporting groups were distinctly larger than that of the non-athietic group, increasing with each chronoiogical age step on the distance curve and annual increase in height curve. The MIA mean value for the soccer group was significantly higher(P<.05) than those of the non-athletic and all the other sporting groups. 2. The soccer group was significantly slighter(p<.05) in stature than all the other sporting groups. 3. Subjects who played baseball throughout high school reached physical maturity earlier than those who only played throughout junior high school. However, those who continued to play soccer throughout high school reached maturity later than those who only played throughout junior high school.
The Control System Modeling and Experiment for the Tele-operated Unmanned Vehicle

The control system design and modeling of an unmanned vehicle by means of a new concept for better performance through a tele-operation system is suggested by sensor fusion. But. the control of a real vehicle is very difficult, because the system identification of the vehicle is hard to find the unknown factors and the disturbances of the experimental environment. For the longitudinal and lateral controls, the traction system and steering system models are set up and a tuning method to find the gain of the controller by experiments is presented. In this research, mechanical and electronic parts are implemented to operate the unmanned vehicle and data reconstruction method of information about the environment data coming from several sensors is presented by data plot for the vehicle navigation. This paper focuses on the integration of tele-operated unmanned vehicle. This vehicle mainly controlled lateral and longitudinal directions with actuators for controlling vehicle movement and sensors for the closed-loop controlled system.<br/>
Laser-Induced Formation and Disintegration of Gold Nanopeanuts and Nanowires

We report the laser-induced formation of peanut-shaped gold nanoparticles (Au nanopeanuts) and gold nanowires (AuNWs), and their morphological properties. Pulsed laser irradiation of citrate-capped gold nanoparticles at 532 nm induces fragmentation, spherical growth, the formation of Au nanopeanuts, and the formation of AuNWs, sequentially. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy images reveal that the Au nanopeanuts are formed by instantaneous fusion of spherical nanoparticles in random orientation by laser heating. Furthermore, Au nanopeanuts are bridged in a linear direction to form AuNWs by an amorphous accumulation of gold atoms in the junction. The laser-produced Au nanopeanuts and AuNWs slowly disintegrate, restoring the spherical shape of the original Au nanoparticles when the laser irradiation is stopped. The addition of citrate effectively prevents them from transforming back to the nanospheres.
